Hi everyone. I’d like to join please as the summer holidays are costing me a fortune and I need the cash! I’m a teacher so have got some time over the next few weeks to get some things going. I’m currently part-time but think I’ll need to go back full-time next year as things stand so would love to be able to make £600 per month or so to make up the difference.

I’ve been on Prolific for a while now but haven’t done it actively for a while. I have really gone for it today and have earned £11. Sure this won’t last though.

I’m hoping for transcription work so have submitted the tests for Rev and another one which I can’t remember. I’ve got a good typing speed and am an English graduate so this would be right up my street if I can get enough work. Is anyone doing well with transcription or copy writing at the moment?

I’ve signed up for Appen but don’t really understand it. Need to spend some time working everything out I think.

Any tips for Englishy type work gratefully received.

Snowballs1 · 02/08/2021 19:00

I find it distracting, there isn't a pinned message about it on slack, just hoping it's not a permanent change.

Rgy3250999 · 02/08/2021 19:20

@Chickoletta I passed everything for Rev but it’s hard going. My metrics were very good on what I have done but trying to find short, clear files is difficult to say the least. I’m a quick typist but having to keep listening to each line over and over again is time consuming.

Maybe it’s just me but a 27 minute file netted me around $18 and yet it took me over 4 hours to finish it. I started thinking any money earned was better than nothing, but when you then convert it to £, it wasn’t giving up my evenings for. Hope you have more success than me 😊

Buster27 · 02/08/2021 19:23

@Chickoletta I've found most of the appen transcription projects I've done to be very good earners. Maybe not to begin with as you have to get to grips with the tool and guidelines, but once you know what you're doing it can be very nice earners if you're fast (and I've found the guidelines are similar so it doesn't take as long to get fast on subsequent projects). It does depend on the audio quality - which varies a lot between projects - but overall I've found them good. It's generally pay per item so the faster you are the more you can earn, so it's well suited to fast typers. If you have a high accuracy score you can sometimes get on the quality checking side too which is even better earning potential. They are usually short term unfortunately, so I try to hammer them when they're available Grin

I've done a bit of Rev too but not enough to say if it's really worthwhile! I quite like it but at the moment I'm only using it if I have no other work on as Appen pays better for me at the moment.

@Snowballs1 I'm not a big fan of the highlight either!

Lifeisforalimitedperiodonly · 02/08/2021 19:32

Evening all. Just checking in. I haven't peeled any potatoes this month so I think it will be the big boot soon.

Need to read up on Rev and get going really.

AdaShelby · 02/08/2021 20:09

I like the highlighted words on crisp. It makes me much faster when deciding.

orangepeelsz · 02/08/2021 20:09

I'm intrigued what is potato?! Grin

TheLolaMontez · 02/08/2021 20:16

I don't like the highlighted words either - there have been a few people asking for it to be taken off on slack but no response yet from the head potatoes.

OP posts:
TheLolaMontez · 02/08/2021 20:16

Well, they said they would ask the people in charge, but no report back yet

OP posts:
TheLolaMontez · 02/08/2021 20:18

Anyone check am" yet? 👀

OP posts:
Mancbee · 02/08/2021 20:29

@TheLolaMontez I'm checking, nothing for me so far.

AdaShelby · 02/08/2021 20:45

My sister has items on her Am££ but none here yet.

Snowballs1 · 02/08/2021 20:46

@TheLolaMontez that's interesting, didn't see any of that, no reponse so far doesn't sound very promising. I wouldn't mind so much if it was a lighter colour, it reduces the contrast between the word and the background

TheLolaMontez · 02/08/2021 20:49

It was the other day that that response was given, maybe 2-3 days ago (?) I find it really off putting, I wonder if it's intended to slow us down and read things properly. I feel like I can't grasp the context of the item very well some how. I'm sure I'll get used to it if it doesn't change.

No am"s so far for me either yet

YonderTweek · 02/08/2021 21:08

I have items on A**r and the first one is a scam page. Classic. Grin

TheHumanFund · 02/08/2021 21:22

I have Am** items too and my first also looks like a scam Grin

AdaShelby · 02/08/2021 21:29

I have 7 and first is a scam too Grin

LoLo2020 · 02/08/2021 21:30

Once my Appen invoice is approved for July which is half of June's , I'll be lucky if I earn £5 a week based on the surveys I'm doing :(

TheHumanFund · 02/08/2021 21:35

Do you all skip the scams? I skipped one last month because I found negative reviews but I did order from two others because I couldn't find any evidence to skip. And one of the items did arrive 😂

TheLolaMontez · 02/08/2021 21:42

I did a scam one last month, I was meant to be buying a large portable clothes ironing dryer type thing, it was about the size of a wardrobe. I think it cost £12 and I received a pair of fake apple AirPods 🤣 ridiculous

OP posts:
Buster27 · 02/08/2021 21:45

6 products for me. I don't seem to be able to purchase the first one, just message the seller, so I guess I'll be stuck on the first one for a bit. And it's something crappy obviously Grin

TheLolaMontez · 02/08/2021 21:52

I've not got anything on mine so far. I'm gonna stop looking though cos if I keep checking I might scare it off Grin

Baby89 · 02/08/2021 21:52

Hi all. Is the scam on amr the fund ju*.

Lifeisforalimitedperiodonly · 02/08/2021 22:27

Oh yikes, I only just noticed the stuff for Am*r. Think I will leave the excitement for tomorrow!

dancingdolphinsagain · 03/08/2021 06:21

I am stupidly happy that I've got back on to Am** this month after not being picked for a while. Can't wait to see what shit I have to buy Grin
