Tax credit - anyone got a date for the £500 payment yet?

I see a lot of tax credit recipients will be getting a £500 lump sum rather than the £20 a week - but has anyone had it yet or had a date for it? I get a small amount of tax credits and can't figure out if I'm eligible for the £500

@YesIDoLoveCrisps

When I sign into my tax credits account I can see all my future payments (not on the app just on my laptop). There’s no £500 payment shown so I guess that means I don’t get it.
I believe HMRC have confirmed that it won't show in the app because it's a one-off payment. The only reliable measure currently is receiving a text or letter to say you're getting it, and even then it's based on other factors like whether you were in receipt of CTC and WTC in March of this year (I think?).

I've had the text but it's not showing in the app so am just going to hang tight and hope for the best.

I think this should be a lot less complicated than it is, it’s been a difficult year for a lot of people and £500 could really help out a lot. Stressing over if you get it or not isn’t good. Plus it seems that a lot of people who really need it don’t seem to be entitled to it.

myusernamewastakenbyme · 09/04/2021 08:46

Still no text here but im sure im entitled to it.

Hotpinkangel19 · 09/04/2021 10:23

No letter or text here but i have this on my award letter, does this mean we may be eligible?

JamesMiddletonsMarshmallows · 09/04/2021 10:28

@Hotpinkangel19 yes, that's being entitled to WTC but not actually receiving any because of your income

Thank you. I also was allowed to open a help to save account too thanks to this thread! I would have never known about it otherwise!

No text here yet. I did get the uplift last year and now my tax credits have gone back down. Hopefully this means I'm entitled to it

TalesTheCat · 10/04/2021 02:15

Just checked, mobile wasn't listed but my.home phone twice. This will be why I haven't received a text. Fingers crossed for a letter

CaesarsDream · 10/04/2021 07:28

I get WTC and have not yet received a letter or text message. Does this mean I'm not eligible? Does anyone know what the criteria is for eligibility?

Were you receiving any payments on the 2nd of March?

This if from Martin Lewis MSE

Martin said anyone who received working tax credits prior to the Budget will receive the £500 boost.
"If you were getting working tax credits on March 2, you will get the £500," Lewis responded."

CaesarsDream · 10/04/2021 08:15

Thank you @RigaBalsam I get CTC too, which includes a tiny childcare element. I wonder if you eligible if you only receive/were receiving wtc?

It's a bit unclear.

MyDcAreMarvel · 10/04/2021 12:29

@CaesarsDream ctc is irrelevant makes no difference if you get it or not that’s why it’s not mentioned.
If you had an entitlement to wtc on March 2nd even if your wtc payments were reduced to zero due to income you will get the £500.

karen2402 · 12/04/2021 10:17

Has anyone had their payment yet??

perfectpizza124 · 12/04/2021 10:54

@karen2402
Not yet, I check every morning Smile

karen2402 · 12/04/2021 10:56

I'm the same Grin fingers crossed its soon x

SpideyMom · 12/04/2021 11:15

@Reiningitin did you ever find out if that payment going in was to do with this or something else?

mrselizabethdarcy · 12/04/2021 11:23

Not yet...I'm also checking every morning Grin

JamesMiddletonsMarshmallows · 12/04/2021 11:52

I know from work that BACS payments take 3 working days from sending. The earliest date they would have sent the payments would have been Friday 9th as we had to update bank details by the 8th. So I doubt anyone will have their payment before Wednesday this week.

My bank tells me about incoming payments the day before they're deposited, nothing today but I'll keep checking

Hotpinkangel19 · 12/04/2021 13:35

No letter or text here but from the criteria we should qualify 🤔

Reiningitin · 12/04/2021 16:09

@SpideyMom I think it was just a one off payment I was lucky to receive to make my tax credits correct at the end of the tax year, it never appeared on my app but it was on my award letter about a week later as a one off correcting payment. So definitely not the £500 we are all watching and waiting for.

lollipoprainbow · 12/04/2021 16:13

Has anyone receive the £500 yet ?! I could really do with it this week.

EvilOnion · 12/04/2021 16:38

AFAIK from other threads they've only just started processing the first batch of payments today.

It's worth noting that it's not extra money, regular weekly/monthly TC are being cut so it's a lump sum to cover the short fall in-line with UC top ups.

Bill2017 · 13/04/2021 16:30

Hi, is this your most upto date aware as its 2019-2020? I've being trying to find my award for 20/21. Is it this award period of entitlement to be eligible? Confused
