Tax credit - anyone got a date for the £500 payment yet?

I see a lot of tax credit recipients will be getting a £500 lump sum rather than the £20 a week - but has anyone had it yet or had a date for it? I get a small amount of tax credits and can't figure out if I'm eligible for the £500

I have opened a savings scheme account does this mean I'm eligible for the £500 in april. Get ctc but earn to much for WTC payments

EvilOnion · 13/04/2021 18:08

Re eligibility, taken from HMRC site.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 13/04/2021 18:49

Didn't mean to write nothing 😂😂 I do get ctc and wtc
Reiningitin · 13/04/2021 22:45

@Bill2017 it sounds to me as if you are eligible definitely

myusernamewastakenbyme · 14/04/2021 06:51

Has anyone had the £500 yet?

EvilOnion · 14/04/2021 07:06

No. I'm not counting on it until it's in my bank account either - we don't usually get anything so fully expecting to miss out on a loophole 🤣

They might not go out until next week I suppose. This week could be processing payments.

Alwaysandforeverhere · 14/04/2021 07:21

Apparently they are not sending people letters till Monday so I reckon a few lucky might get payment before but likely to be end next week.

Hotpinkangel19 · 14/04/2021 09:48

I saw a post on Twitter which said the payments will be from tomorrow -23rd.

Bill2017 · 14/04/2021 10:46

It's a waiting game! Any body know if you are still eligible even though they are paying back an overpayment? Thanks x

SpideyMom · 14/04/2021 11:34

Payments are by the 23rd April arent they? So it's going to be over the next week I guess. Fingers crossed for everyone.

I still can't get over the differences between the two systems. UC claimants will still be getting this right? I'm sure I read that due to the way the systems work UC will run on for 6 months whereas TC will be a lump sum. I get it completely but lots of people on TCs payments drop as soon as the new tax year hits so straight away we lose. But not only that. I am one of the ones who would struggle massively on UC if I had to move over. The difference between the two systems with the exact same circumstances is absolutely huge. Its well over half of what I'm getting now. I earn under 14k and am a single parent. I dont understand why the difference is so huge.

Anyway I will stop venting. Fingers crossed for everyone with the one off Payments. The next battle....renewal Sad

Fontella · 14/04/2021 11:39

I got a text on 31st March but no payment as yet.

perfectpizza124 · 14/04/2021 11:57

Has anyone had renewal for 20/21?

Parentof3girlshelplol · 14/04/2021 12:04

I spoke with tax credits live chat today and they informed me my payment was issued to and should be in my account by 23rd. I never received a text or a letter. So maybe worth speaking to them there live chat online if you still haven’t heard anything.

NoProblem123 · 14/04/2021 12:34

I’ve also just done the webchat - I get CTC but no WTC as income too high.
They asked me to confirm mobile number as communication would be sent letter today, and was I employed on 2/3 (I was).
I qualify and will get payment before 23/4 Grin

LastRoloIsMine · 14/04/2021 14:17

I just asked on the website chat and I will be getting a payment.

If it helps my circumstances are:

Single mum 4 DC all on the claim.
Work full time.
Receive CTC but not WTC as I earn £26,000 pa but I am eligible for WCT but receive nil award after they deduct my wages.

perfectpizza124 · 14/04/2021 15:34

@LastRoloIsMine
Thanks that's really helpful as I'm similar but earn 24,000 with 3 dc.

Bill2017 · 14/04/2021 15:56

I have had a webchat and I should receive payment. Single mum of 2 work full time. Receive ctc but earn to high for WTC payments.

myusernamewastakenbyme · 14/04/2021 16:18

Apologies for another stupid question but where is this live chat you are all using please.

Youmakemyheartgogiddyup · 14/04/2021 16:25

I use live chat on the hmrc app, you may be able to do it from the gov.uk website too. Type in "tax credit live chat" on Google if you don't have the app.

Samcj02 · 14/04/2021 16:52

I saw on the Facebook hmrc page that some payments have been issued today and are expected to reach bank accounts between 16-23rd April x

Hotpinkangel19 · 14/04/2021 17:19

I just asked too, we qualify! It was issued today so should be with us by the 23rd 😊

Samcj02 · 14/04/2021 18:34

@Hotpinkangel19 did you receive the text? I received it on April 1 but im unsure if we actually qualify x

Hotpinkangel19 · 14/04/2021 19:15

No I haven't received anything at all! I asked on the HRMC web chat and they said i will be getting it.
