I’ve just heard one of my friends got a “60%” payrise. she’s in a industry that has grown rapidly during the pandemic (online retail)

I had a £500 increase. An increase of 2% which tbh I was incredibly grateful for. I’m just glad I have a job! (Catering company)

If anyone else fancies sharing, please feel free and your thoughts about it

I got a monthly increase of £5.Doesn't even cover the printer ink I've used whilst teleworking

MedusasBadHairDay · 15/12/2020 10:30

Nothing. Understandably, things were tough going during the first lockdown, quite a few furloughs and massive decrease in our usual revenue streams. Apparently they are hopeful that we'll get out bonuses though.

God knows what will happen next year though, as brexit could fuck it up further.

I think at this point we're all just grateful there's been no need for redundancies.

Gufo · 15/12/2020 12:53

None; I work for a uni.

Honeyroar · 15/12/2020 12:58

I was offered 70% of my salary for 20% more hours and a new contract that allowed them to give me 8 weeks unpaid leave a year if they wanted to and ripped up most of my terms and conditions I’d had for two decades. So I took voluntary redundancy. I got another job, nowhere near as well paid, but for a company that appreciates me. I won’t be getting a pay rise. I’ll be pleased if the business is standing by Spring.

Charcol · 16/12/2020 16:02

Key worker here, within Private sector.
We had no pay rise and senior management took a 10% pay cut from March until the end of June.
For working through the pandemic.. we did get a one off payment of £500 in August.

Fortunately we had minimal redundancies.

all in all, cant complain toooo much! Given the state of things out there.

CouldBeOuting · 17/12/2020 09:16

I got a 1% increase on my hourly rate but my hours have been cut so I earn less than I used to.

This is due to funding cuts plus extra costs in the education sector.

Eaumyword · 18/12/2020 19:56

No pay rise in 7yrs and they cut my hours in September so I'm now on 20% less than before. Admin in a school.

christmasathomeagain · 18/12/2020 20:26

2.75% public sector so nothing next year.

60% is insane!

Asdf12345 · 18/12/2020 20:34

I got an increment on a pay scale worth about 5%, but have seen another source of income dry up completely due to covid. Fortunately the other half got about 20% at the start f covid and is negotiating for another 10%.

HearMeSnore · 18/12/2020 22:00

@Mooey89
Same. Except I didn't get a mug. I got some free hand cream so that I could keep working when all the hand-washing started flaying the skin off my hands.
Got a badge, too.

CarolinaWeeper · 20/12/2020 17:54

Zero. But there have been a number of redundancies or staff having to take a cut in their hours so I count myself lucky to still have a job.

TravellingSpoon · 20/12/2020 21:12

Our Union managed to get us a pay increase of about 30p per hour.

CatherineCawood · 20/12/2020 21:28

Private sector. We've worked very hard and have come through it and made a reasonable profit. 2%

MiddleClassMother · 20/12/2020 21:58

5% which surprised me as the industry isn't in the greatest shape lately.

ShyAmy333 · 21/12/2020 16:07

I used to have a high paid job in banking and regularly had pay rises well above inflation. But they didnt compensate for the stress the long hours and the constant pressure to meet targets.

I transitioned to female 3 years ago and now I work in retail on a fraction of my previous earnings, pay rises are minimal but my well being is such an improvement. I dont worry about pay rises anymore everything is relative.

Hoppinggreen · 24/12/2020 12:05

Over 50% but that was by changing jobs

unmarkedbythat · 24/12/2020 12:10

Hahahahahaha. Ha.

I'm not sure, I have blanked the tiny percentage out from my mind because it was genuinely insulting and message announcing it was of the "get down and scrape in gratitude peasants" vein so I pretended it hadn't happened.

Shadowboy · 24/12/2020 12:21

Teacher here- we got nothing.

BrieAndChilli · 24/12/2020 12:26

I’ve lost a third as my hours have been cut by the amount going forward.

unmarkedbythat · 24/12/2020 12:38

How did that work, Shadowboy? Do you work for an academy or something?

Shadowboy · 24/12/2020 12:41

@unmarkedbythat yes an academy where they can set their own pay

unmarkedbythat · 24/12/2020 12:42

It's such a race to the bottom isn't it?

Helloyouthere · 24/12/2020 12:47

Have worked throughout. Account management £0 payrise.

54321GoGoGo · 24/12/2020 17:51

Nothing, will be tough this year.

I took a paycut with new job after redundancy, r u expecting one?
