So how much of a % pay rise did you get this year?

I’ve just heard one of my friends got a “60%” payrise. she’s in a industry that has grown rapidly during the pandemic (online retail)

I had a £500 increase. An increase of 2% which tbh I was incredibly grateful for. I’m just glad I have a job! (Catering company)

If anyone else fancies sharing, please feel free and your thoughts about it

0% and I didn't expect one.
It's been a tough year though. My dept took on all the work from furloughed colleagues.

greyinganddecaying · 13/12/2020 20:21

Nothing. Not had a pay rise in years. But I am moving jobs next year, so hopefully will get an increase then.

Mamagotskills · 13/12/2020 20:25

Zero. Big corporate, froze all payrise as snd promotions

Oblomov20 · 13/12/2020 20:25

Nothing.
I haven't had one in years. Angry
Dh gets 3% every year.

theemmadilemma · 13/12/2020 20:25

0 this year.

GeorgiaGirl52 · 13/12/2020 20:27

1.3% cost of living raise -- based on social security (pension) for retired workers. So, the larger your pension the larger your raise.

AgeLikeWine · 13/12/2020 20:29

My salary, like that of the overwhelming majority of people in my industry which has been decimated by the pandemic, has been cut by 20% this year, as I have spend much of it on furlough.

I’m not complaining, though, because it currently looks like I may still have a job when this nightmare is over, unlike so many of my colleagues.

hopefulhalf · 13/12/2020 20:29

7% NHS

KitKat1985 · 13/12/2020 20:29

NHS nurse here. 0% payrise this year.

RoyaleMum · 13/12/2020 20:33

I got 7% in april from the job i had done for 6 years and then moved jobs which boosted me by another 5% in September

Private sector both financial sector roles.

Alarae · 13/12/2020 20:36

0%. I am on maternity leave at the moment however so I haven't been affected by any mandated reduced hours in my company (however my team has actually been busier than ever).

The company isn't doing any pay rises this year from what I can tell, however as profits are better than expected they will be topping up people who lost pay in 2020 by having to take reduced hours. Which is fair enough.

missanony · 13/12/2020 20:37

@GaryTheDemon teachers don’t automatically move up the scale anymore. In fact, schools have no money and set impossible targets and as a result, many have been on the same salary point for years.

I got a bonus but no pay rise. Private sector.

Longdistance · 13/12/2020 20:40

1% which equates to £130 pa. Not too bothered as I’ve seen many friends lose their jobs 😔 I did help with furlough. My manger commented that I didn’t fuss, but I’m surprised other people have. They topped us up to 100%, so we didn’t lose out. I just got on with it.

tinselvestsparklepants · 13/12/2020 20:40

HE, no pay rise, "3 extra days holiday at Christmas" but no reduction in workload so there's no way we can take the holiday. Plus lots of staff taking voluntary redundancy and won't be replaced, so next year will be even tougher.

Fishfingersandwichplease · 13/12/2020 20:43

2.75% only been there a year so am v grateful

FanSpamTastic · 13/12/2020 20:44

We had no pay rise and senior management took a 10% pay cut from March until the end of June. We had minimal furloughed staff and have had no redundancies so far.

Alexandernevermind · 13/12/2020 20:48

DH owns the company I work pt for. He and I took a 40% pay cut so that we could keep our staff on their usual pay rate. A couple still asked for a pay rise, and they have asked about Christmas bonuses. :-(

JustCallMeGriffin · 13/12/2020 20:50

Zero. My pay is frozen until 2025 at the earliest and I'm losing a week of holidays from 2021.

Whilst it's shit, I have a final salary pension, job security for at least 2 years (part of the contract change negotiations) and able to work from home flexibly. I'm incredibly conscious that places me in the more fortunate ones at present.

chesterfuckingdraws · 13/12/2020 20:51

Nothing. We've had a pay freeze for a number of years and is been confirmed that will continue for the foreseeable.

I fully expect to be told my allowances are going to be cut and I'll be working for peanuts.

roarfeckingroarr · 13/12/2020 20:52

Private sector. No pay rise (non management did get one) and a pitiful bonus.

Lemming20 · 13/12/2020 20:53

Private sector. 10% paycut. Not happy at all but grateful I wasn’t entirely cut during the recent redundancy rounds.

ThreeTwoOneGoo · 13/12/2020 20:54

0%. Public sector been on frozen pay for 8 years now.

Keratinsmooth · 13/12/2020 20:56

I’m hoping for 5% but I’m sick of the misogyny and pressure in my company so I’m going elsewhere for a £9.5k increase

MrsWooster · 13/12/2020 20:57

-50% self employed.

frenchtoast88 · 13/12/2020 20:57

I came back from mat leave to work 0.55 of FT. Then took a 5% pay cut cos covid which was promised to be reinstated after Christmas but now isn't. So a neat 48% pay cut altogether. Appreciate that the reduced hours is part of it but I was heavily encouraged to come back at even less than those hours to suit to the business.
