Murinae · 05/01/2021 21:40

2x£25 for me

Parky04 · 05/01/2021 21:44

2 x 25 for me.

ginislife · 05/01/2021 22:08

Nothing on £20k holding this month. That's 2 months running !

Ratbagcatbag · 05/01/2021 22:13

@MummytoCSJH there is some belief that if you have all the bonds in one block then it stands more chance than in smaller blocks of bonds. :)

Untangled87 · 05/01/2021 23:14

Each £1 bond has a 34,500:1 chance of winning a prize, so it makes no difference whether you hold them in one big block or lots of little blocks. Someone won £10,000 this month from a £10 block, others won big prizes (including £100,000) from £25 blocks.

Cabincrewclare · 06/01/2021 07:05

Hubby and I both have £50k each so maxed out, this months draw we won £1050 between us :-)

qwert9873 · 06/01/2021 07:24

Can anyone explain the 'blocks' of bonds to me? Sorry new to this Blush

RaspberryCoulis · 06/01/2021 07:31

I think they just mean the manner in which you've bought them. So if you have £5000 in bonds it doesn't matter whether you've bought them in one go - so the numbers run sequentially - or you've had a couple since you were a kid, and have bought in dribs and drabs over months or years. The chances of winning are just the same.

Can anybody tell me when they stop issuing paper cheques in the post?
Congratulations to all the winners! ✨

@abouquetofsharpenedpencils

Why pay for the postage, the ink, the paper, when it can be transferred for free?

Pretty obvious answer tbh lol

BarbaraofSeville · 06/01/2021 07:54

I thought they still issued the cheques, due to the outcry when they tried to stop. Premium bonds are especially popular with older savers, who as a group have lower take up of online banking.

Which is a shame, because it's all so much easier and no chance of your winning cheque getting lost in the post.

LuckyHedgehog · 06/01/2021 07:56

abouquet According to this, they'll start phasing out the cheques in spring 2021.

@qwert9873 blocks equal the purchase amount, it could be a £25 block or £25,306 and any other amount bought in one go up to and including £50,000

Each £1 no matter how big or small the block, in each block is worth 1 ticket (allocated number)

MummytoCSJH · 06/01/2021 18:38

Well good luck with yours whatever you decide to do @Ratbagcatbag !

clary · 06/01/2021 20:06

Loving this thread! I have the max holding as it was sitting earning no interest in a deposit AC.

Bought them end July, so far won £225. This is the first month I've not won! Pretty good return I reckon (deposit AC was paying 0.005% or something).

RuthTopp · 06/01/2021 22:39

abersinas · 06/01/2021 23:05

ArtfulPuss · 07/01/2021 11:50

@yellowstoneranch

I've just found some very old (70's & 80's) premiumBonds that my now late Nan bought for me when I was growing up.

Online can't verify the numbers, possibly too old?? How else do I get them checked & updated to my current address ? Is there a form or ring a number?

My mum recently gave me some old yellow slips from the 70's and 80's for bonds that my dad took out for me – no idea of the value, probably not very much, but I can't add them to my holding as am already at the max, so tweeted them on @nsandihelp and they replied straightaway with a v. helpful answer and a link to a form to cash them in.

When I asked how to find out the value and actual bond numbers (as slips, prob same as yours as similar age, just have a Holder's Number at the top) they said: 'The only way to that would be to write to us at NS&I, Sunderland SR43 2SB along with your current and former details and explain the situation, and ask us for an updated Bond Record of your older holding.' HTH!
