Easyjet woes

I wonder if anyone can help - my outbound flight was cancelled, and I have applied for refund online. However my return flight (back from Spain) is still operating, and I can't seem to figure out how to get a refund. Are they required to refund it if the outbound one was cancelled?
Thanks

PS - have been trying to call them to enquire but been unable to get through so far.

We currently have the same situation. Our outbound flight was cancelled. My partner applied for a refund assuming it was for both parts of the journey. But we now have to wait till the return journey is cancelled to apply for the refund for that. My partner says there’s an easyJet refund Facebook group if you do social media.

Justjoinedforthis · 02/07/2020 10:00

Thanks for the reply! Sorry you are going through the same. So if the flight is never cancelled, do you think we just lose the money? My insurance are being typically crap and saying they will not pay! Not on FB but thanks for the tip

I waited until the return flight was cancelled too (7 days later in my case) - given that they only cancel flights a week before departure you might just have to wait a few days.

Powerplant · 02/07/2020 10:03

We didn’t cancel but moved the flights forward to next year, is this a possibility for you?

Justjoinedforthis · 02/07/2020 10:07

@powerplant - maybe, but I sort of don't want to let the bastards get away with it that easily : )
Also have no ideas when we will be able to get annual leave that matches up again so not sure when it will be possible to go away again

I’m really not sure what happens if the flight is not cancelled. May have to cross that bridge when we come to it!

Embracelife · 02/07/2020 10:10

Same waiting to know about the return portion...I think You need to wait for two weeks before the return then you will get email with options. If it s cancelled.
If not cancelled you can ask for voucher I think

AQuietC0ffee20 · 02/07/2020 13:33

They cancelled return flightß beginning of June
Yet to receive refund

BarbaraofSeville · 02/07/2020 14:24

This has been covered by Moneysavingexpert.

The problem arises because technically, you haven't bought a return ticket, you've bought singles, and Easyjet and Ryanair are disingenous enough to state that your return still stands and if they cancel your outbound flight, it's up to you to make your own way to your destination so you present yourself at the airport for the return flight Hmm, which is obviously ridiculous.

Hopefully if they're not playing ball, you'll be able to get help elsewhere (insurance, credit card?). Luckily for us, Jet2 were more sensible about this because we had flights from something like 26/4 to 2/5 when all flights were cancelled to the end of April and they refunded both legs without question.

Still waiting for refund for flights cancelled at end of May

tootyfruitypickle · 02/07/2020 19:50

That Facebook page js great and has lots of info, including a phone no you can get through on! I asked this question of EJ yesterday and they said if one leg cancelled but both on same booking you get full refund of the entire booking even if one leg goes

tootyfruitypickle · 02/07/2020 19:51

Also a good email I think it’s John Leighton at easyjet. Emailed yesterday about May flights and had email by return with refund promised in my account 3-5 days. Worth its weight in gold that Facebook page!

AMEXY · 02/07/2020 23:05

I have the same problem, they have refunded the outbound flight but not the return leg. But when I login to my account it does say pending refund. If both flights are under the same booking I don't see how they can only refund one part of it. I have reported the issue to the credit card company who say they will sort it. Still waiting for an outcome. Very disappointed that I have not been able to contact easyJet about it. If you paid by bank card see if your bank can issue a chargeback. If they can you just need to complete a form which is sent by post.

Thanks for the replies, don’t have FB but will look up this Leighton chap, great tip!!

Put in subject booking no / date(like 03072020 but for flight booking date / EN

I was in the same position with RyanAir, outbound flight cancelled. We were offered a refund or vouchers, I accepted the vouchers (thinking I would have to write the return flight off) and received them for both outbound and inbound flights! - within 24hrs. We've just used them to book for next year.

tootyfruitypickle · 03/07/2020 06:52

If they cancel even one flight they legally have to refund for both. You don’t have to accept vouchers but they will push them at you !

tootyfruitypickle · 03/07/2020 06:53

That includes if they change your flight time and give you a new flight number as that is due to a cancelled flight. They’re being very duplicitous but the law is the law and you will get a refund if flight is cancelled

FabulouslyGlamourousFerret · 03/07/2020 07:17

Do they? Even if not booked at the same time or not part of a package?

justdontatme · 03/07/2020 07:26

Still waiting for refund from flights they cancelled at the end of March...

vazza · 03/07/2020 07:26

I had this problem yesterday. I called them and they refunded both with no issue. However, I was on hold for 3 hours and 20 minutes.

tootyfruitypickle · 03/07/2020 07:51

@FabulouslyGlamourousFerret if they’re part of the same booking number (as I understand it )

DustyD2 · 03/07/2020 09:03

You are entitled to a refund for both logs of journey. We had this with BA, they cancelled outbound and refunded both. Don't take a voucher or you then can't ask for a refund
