MLM Bot Watch 60: It takes a village to sink an island.

Continued chat exposing things such as the lies peddled and the bankruptcies hidden from view.

For those interested, the Lifetime channel is airing a documentary series called Cults & Extreme Belief. I have seen two episodes so far (FLDS, aired yesterday, and Twelve Tribes, aired last week). This coming Sunday is the first part of The Survivors Speak. So far it has been very interesting to see the similarities to MLM brainwashing. The way that active FLDS members still view Warren Jeffs as a prophet rather than a paedophile is remarkably similar to how Young Living customers view their late leader Gary Young.

In other news: I'm thinking about starting a tinfoil MLM as there seems to be a rather strong market amongst huns.

Yawn has just posted two stories showing two of her downline getting sashes and pins (I shall be talking to my boss as to why I don’t get these in my J.O.B - guess I’ll just have to make do with a regular salary, sick pay, holiday pay...)

ANYWAY, the first one looks utterly thrilled(!) which isn’t the greatest advert but the second it saying Nurse has an annual income of £6000 per year! Cleverly it doesn’t say profit and we know she’s her own best customer but crikey, how can she get away with posting that?!

Whiterangey · 04/06/2020 16:43

I've been watching a bit of Keeping up Appearances. Yawn is MLM'S answer to Hyacinth Bucket, sorry, Bouquet.

Introducing her sofas in vintage mustard. They are brown. Perfect for guests to sit on at one of her candlelight suppers though, with added sales technique bonus.

A colleague has left these Essenes product lists at work. The prices are eye watering, especially the cleaning products!
Interesting that they make direct perfume comparisons. I thought Essens say they don’t do that?
Some of the leaflets were personalised so this bizness will be costing my colleague money Hmm

£48.50 for a diffuser??? That you can't even smell before you buy? Who the fuck even buys this shit? Apart from the bot obviously.

JasperRising · 04/06/2020 19:33

Those prices Shock I buy 'eco' brand cleaning products and they cost less than that... A litre of flash multi-purpose will set you back 2 quid. Who has the money to spend that much on cleaning products?? And if they have that much money why are they spending it on Essens?

If you can afford £12.50 on a litre of multipurpose cleaner, you can probably afford genuine Armani or Chanel perfume.

AntiBotics · 04/06/2020 19:46

Good point Jasper, why you buy cheap perfume but aspire to buy expensive cleaning products or a £50 diffuser! The USP seems pretty mixed up.

grumpytoddler1 · 04/06/2020 19:50

A diffuser from the white company costs about £27 and they often have discount codes. Why would I buy this random weird one for 50 quid!

oralengineer · 04/06/2020 21:23

Wouldn’t Mr & Mrs Yawn have to declare their loan from business when applying for a mortgage to pay it back, I assume that is what they are being forced to do. Mortgage lenders are hypersensitive at the moment. You have to submit all your accounts and basically bare your soul. Or perhaps mortgage valuer is MLM speak for estate agent. One of my secret indulgences is property porn so will report back if a certain house appears on the market. Unfortunately Yawn is fairly local.

DownThePan · 04/06/2020 21:25

Those Essens prices are ludicrous. A tenner for “toilet bowl cleaner”. Could they not have made it sound fancier?!

acatcalledjohn · 04/06/2020 23:28

If it is a mortgage advisor they may be looking at releasing some equity?

@DownThePan you’re very lavatorial! Grin
How about Eau d’Ordure de Toilette?

dickiedavisthunderthighs · 05/06/2020 09:53

Uber's sister has received her yoga mat through the post this morning, just over £7K. Interesting that she didn't reveal at the time but now she is. I wonder if Uber will do the same?

CompleteBarstool · 05/06/2020 10:11

Did she give a (lame) reason at the time for not revealing it?

Also what amount did she get last year (IIRC) when we had that comedy gold moment caught on camera where she was not impressed by the amount and the smiley persona slipped?

fromdownwest · 05/06/2020 10:55

I have had genuine businesses declined left right and center at the minute. Restricted loan to values, and self employed account being looked at with a fine tooth comb.

Once again, the bots in la la land, believe that they can do as they please, and it gets done. Sadly the real world does not work that way.

With directors loans that large, I assume that the 'income' is minimal, enough to obtain stamp. The rest is just additional borrowing.

In addition, there is a back log of about 6 weeks for valuers, with all pipeline cases taking priority.

Me thinks she means an appraiser, or Estate Agent.

Norma27 · 05/06/2020 12:44

Just reported a hun trying to get people to join her Juice plus team. Post only up for 5 mins. Result.

fromdownwest · 05/06/2020 13:21

JP seem to be quite vocal on their income this month. Top bot is 'literally' on fire.

BangingOn · 05/06/2020 13:37

Iron Bot is taking JP to Romania, for which I am sure they are extremely grateful.

acatcalledjohn · 05/06/2020 13:57

I can't imagine why Broke is single... Hmm

Thank you @bsintolerant

Since Woman’s Hour the other day I have been listening to more of the esteemed leader of the Direct Scamming Assoc. here are some quotes from the podcast I’m listening to:

“The Direct Scamming Assoc is a governing body”
“We regulate“
“We have a Code of Conduct“ (well I’ve searched and searched your website but I can’t see it or mention of it. It’s the very document which should be freely and clearly available)“
“The ONLY way for a distributor to get paid is to sell product to a (real) customer”
“I’d like the term “multilevel marketing” to be banished into myRoom 101 because it totally misdescribes our simple direct sales to customers”.

She’s very careful to only really talk about UK MLMs who have a high street presence. I think she either didn’t read her job description or is being purposefully selective.

Read a wonderful comment on an r/antimlm post today describing MLM's.

"It's like scientology for the working classes"

I'd also like to recommend 2 recent videos on YouTube. Firstly a hilarious takedown on Vemma by Tommy Lee Bones and then a fascinating video by 'Not the good girl' on why she quit the industry when she was in the top 1% of the pyramid.

YouokHun · 05/06/2020 20:15

Ooo, thanks for the recommendation @9dartfinish2nd ... will go and have a look.

Hunbot · 05/06/2020 22:21

As a mortgage advisor I can confirm that with limited company directors lenders are looking at accounts, tax assessments and tax year overviews plus 3 latest months business bank statements. Lenders also really don't like additional borrowing for tax purposes.
