Anyone up for an earn £10 a day challenge this year?

Otterses · 02/01/2019 08:06

I was wondering if anyone would like to join me Smile truth be told I really need the support!

Having DS has reduced my savings, and ability to save now that I'm paying for childcare. So my aim this year is to make £3650, or £10 a day which sounds far less terrifying.

I just thought this would be a great idea to share ideas for earning extra money and cheering each other on. Way better than just staring at a spreadsheet.

Soooooo here it goes.

Day One - £33.37/3650

£22.87 matched betting, and £10.61 Leapforce.

When selling clothes on eBay is it best to do an auction or buy it now?

ememem84 · 27/01/2019 13:23

I’ve just listed some baby clothes and have done both auction and buy it now. Give options. I usually set the buy it now for the minimum id accept.

Eg just listed a 0-3 month pramsuit. Was a gift. Auction started at 2.50. Buy it now 6.

It’s a good brand but we just need it gone.

Otterses · 27/01/2019 13:48

@margaritasbythesea my issue on eBay is I just seem to attract CF's and odd balls Grin either they claim an item hasn't arrived, never show up to collect things, or just have bloody weird requests.

Maybe everyone's eBay success stories will inspire me to give it another go.

margaritasbythesea · 27/01/2019 13:49

If I can do both without being charged for the but it now, I do both.

IntentsAndPorpoises · 27/01/2019 15:26

I've just sold some clothes on ebay. I now always do signed for second class. To avoid cheeky feckers saying stuff hasn't arrived.

I've got £10 pending on prolific, so about £12 altogether. I've made £2 on Google rewards. I buy ebooks on there, so can now get two 99p ones!

I've signed up to do some testing for software for the exam board I mark for (ex-teacher).

startingafresh1 · 27/01/2019 16:03

Intents if you do proof of posting on eBay do the cheeky fuckers who claim non-receipt still get away with it. I thought proof of postage was sufficient evidence that you'd sent it, but I'm maybe incorrect?

startingafresh1 · 27/01/2019 16:08

I wonder if more men get studies on prolific. I apologise for generalising but I feel it's likely that they have a higher proportion of women than men signed up.

I'm assuming researchers try to get a representative sample for most studies so more women get screened out.....

IntentsAndPorpoises · 27/01/2019 16:16

Possibly. But then you'd have to refund and make a claim through Royal mail if they claim it didn't turn up.

ChakiraChakra · 27/01/2019 16:43

@startingafresh1 as far as I understand it, with proof of posting they can still say they haven't received it and you're still liable, but you're insured up to I think £50 with royal mail. However, I wouldn't like to have to claim for something that isn't as new with a receipt from when you purchased it.

Recorded delivery both insures it AND somebody at the destination has to sign for it. Nothing is completely watertight, but it's difficult to claim you didn't receive if you've signed for it Wink

IntentsAndPorpoises · 27/01/2019 16:50

I have claimed for some second hand boots I sold on ebay that didn't arrive. Royal mail did pay, but it was a faff to claim.

Reaa · 27/01/2019 17:01

Trading212 do everyone else upload ID?
Bit nervous about doing this bit as I have already given NI number.

Otterses · 27/01/2019 17:03

@Reaa no ID from me, and just been emailed to say my withdrawal was successful Smile

OP posts:
Reaa · 27/01/2019 17:09

@Otterses it won't let me buy any shares unless I upload ID.

boringlyboring · 27/01/2019 17:22

@FrontRowSeat not sure if you’ve sorted it but I’m on the app too.

Press the search/magnifyer at the bottom, click on your share name at the top and it should bring up a sell/buy shares screen for the company.

Thanks for the tips margaritasbythesea.

I don't know if it's been mentioned on this thread yet but I've been using an app called Cleo for about a year. Now and then they bring back paid referrals, when you refer somebody that joins the app you both get £5 (withdrawable immediately). I've used it since March last year so know it's 100% safe. It's a budgeting app btw, and they have weekly competitions to win cash or gift cards

I've made £95 through referrals the past 2 months just by posting about it on FB groups. Hope it's okay to post my link :)

Does anyone know of any good websites that explain stock investing / trading 212? I have no clue what I'm doing

SpockPaperScissorsLizardRock · 27/01/2019 19:58

Well, i haven't heard from Appen so i logged on and they wanted me to sign (electronically) some stuff and then i got to pick a project!

I picked Nile, waiting to hear back now!

Bbub · 27/01/2019 19:59

when i followed a link to the trade thingy it just sent me to the app store, no mention of sign up for a free share or anything like that?
Is it supposed to be like that?

GruffalosOldTrousers · 27/01/2019 21:37

Evening all! I hope today has been profitable.

I have made a stupid error on William Hill and missed putting the promo code in so didn't get my free bets. Arrggh!

@Sprock that's good news about Appen. Have you applied to Lionbridge too, or just Appen?

Sounds like there's some good ebaying going on. I too am a bit of a selling failure. I put 2 skirts on last week but neither sold and I have a playpen on gumtree but no interest.

Hi all question for you if you sign up to do these surveys and mystery shopping would it affect your tax credits? As I do they have to be declared as an income? TIA x

rosybell · 27/01/2019 21:52

Gruffalo - if you go onto William Hill live chat and explain you forgot the promo code they should give you the free bets .

GruffalosOldTrousers · 27/01/2019 22:08

@rosybell, thanks for the tip! I now have my free bets Smile

Bbub · 27/01/2019 22:40

Free £5 just withdrawn from Cleo!!

I only signed up today and got it straight away! It's a budgeting app and seems well verified someone mentioned it up thread.

Here is my referral code where we both get a fiver if you use it. U can withdraw to your bank straight away.

Good luck all

@Bhub . It was doing that when I clicked on the links too so I had to just go to the actual website to sign up and not use a link :)
