Anyone up for an earn £10 a day challenge this year?

Otterses · 02/01/2019 08:06

I was wondering if anyone would like to join me Smile truth be told I really need the support!

Having DS has reduced my savings, and ability to save now that I'm paying for childcare. So my aim this year is to make £3650, or £10 a day which sounds far less terrifying.

I just thought this would be a great idea to share ideas for earning extra money and cheering each other on. Way better than just staring at a spreadsheet.

Soooooo here it goes.

Day One - £33.37/3650

£22.87 matched betting, and £10.61 Leapforce.

Anyone worked out how to withdraw/cash in the share? I’m really confused.

stiltonontoast · 22/01/2019 16:02

I got my share on 212 Trading! £19 - happy with that. Can't seem to sell it yet though, it says locked until Friday!? anyone else get that?

Also made £14.20 on Prolific today. I got one £5 survey!

stiltonontoast · 22/01/2019 16:03

@SplitEndsBushyEyebrows You have to choose the X at the end of the share at the bottom of the screen, it will say "are you sure you want to close this market" or something along those lines.

Otterses · 22/01/2019 16:09

I'm so confused 😂 WHAT IS GOING ON? What is stock? How does it work?

Debating withdrawing now at £49.58. I'm not sure if I even own anything. The mobile app isn't too good for me! May need to look properly later online.

My account value is going up 😂 so yes, I do appear to own shares.

Is anyone going to hang onto theirs? Or sell up right away?

NewYearNewSocks · 22/01/2019 16:15

The ts and cs say you have to own the shares for three days until you can withdraw them. Had a quick read through.

Mummabear2212 · 22/01/2019 16:25

My Trading 212 link if anyone wants it

Do you want to get a free stock share worth up to £100?

Create a Trading212Invest account using this link www.trading212.com/ref/3ifskt8 and we both get a free share!

stiltonontoast · 22/01/2019 16:25

@NewYearNewSocks AHHHAAA thank you. That makes sense.

@Otterses Its so confusing right!? my money seems to be going up though.. so obviously I'm a natural 😂

stiltonontoast · 22/01/2019 16:26

ChakiraChakra · 22/01/2019 16:32

Omg that Trading212 account is hilarious! Eventually got a person on chat for second time today, got password changed, pressed allllll the buttons and am none the wiser about how to withdraw my share 😂 I do however seem to have managed to withdraw my £1 sooo shrugs

ChakiraChakra · 22/01/2019 16:35

@NewYearNewSocks OHHH that would be why, thanks! Good job somebody here is switched on 😂

Mines going down, might be nothing left in 3 days time 😂😂

BelladonnaKebab · 22/01/2019 16:37

Is everyone clicking on these links on their phones or laptop? Have tried to use a couple of referal links but just opens a blank screen on my phone? Also, do you actually need to know stuff about stocks and shares? My entire knowledge about stockmarkets is just what they have shown so far on that Sheridan Smith drama cleaning up! 🙈😁

namechangedforanon · 22/01/2019 16:42

Did you use mine Mumma bear? I'm hoping someone did as I'd like a surprise share haha

namechangedforanon · 22/01/2019 16:43

Bella- I think to be safe use the ref on your laptop.

I did mine via mobile app and the same happened so not sure if it worked :/

margaritasbythesea · 22/01/2019 16:54

Still nothing for me from PA since the first day. I've deleted most of my info. As it seems that others are getting surveys, I'm considering deleting it all. Bit Angry

Otterses · 22/01/2019 17:07

@stiltonontoast I keep losing and gaining 20p 😂 I'm clearly less of a natural.

3 days aye? I think I'll withdraw half ... then maybe see what happens to the rest! As long as my pound investment is covered I'm happy Grin

Where do we stand on paying tax/NI on these earnings? I just looked through the prolific T&C and its not mentioned. Or I missed something

BelladonnaKebab · 22/01/2019 17:13

Thanks @namechangedforanon I'll have a look on the laptop later!

Otterses · 22/01/2019 17:18

@CheesyWeez with the exception of matched betting (which counts as winnings) any extra income over £1000 needs to be declared. Easiest way is to declare yourself as self employed which is what I've done in the past with Leapforce.

OP posts:
SpockPaperScissorsLizardRock · 22/01/2019 17:41

I already do a tax return for income from property so i was just planning on including other income on that.

ChakiraChakra · 22/01/2019 17:50

What's the deal with matched betting not being taxable? I presume "winnings" includes casino and free spin stuff?

I'm feeling clever tonight because my free matched bet came through - a bit nervewracking when your liability is £68 but it worked and has meant that all my funds have ended up together on betfair with a very obvious £18.66 profit Grin if I take into account everything I've paid out for all this, casino, quidco qualifying purchases, oddsmonkey subscription etc, and only count income I've actually received then I'm net -£10.00, if they all pay out as expected I'm +£68. Happy with that 😁

I'm definitely recommending oddsmonkey to everybody who wants to matched bet.

Otterses · 22/01/2019 17:58

@ChakiraChakra I should be clear, it's tax free in the U.K. gambling winnings are exempt from tax (currently). Not sure why they're exempt, but hey ho!

Well done, it's always lovely to win into the exchange Grin it makes it all seem so obvious doesn't it? I'm glad matched betting is working for you.

NewYearNewSocks · 22/01/2019 18:00

@chakirachakra cynical side of me says that’s what they are hoping will happen haha
