MLMs/ Network Marketing: Thread 45

Spongebobette · 05/12/2018 12:24

This is the 45th thread in a long series about the dangers of network marketing/ MLMs such as Forever Living, Ariix, NuSkin, Arbonne, Younique, Valentus, TS Life, Monat, Stella and Dot, Tropic, various slimroast/weight loss coffee MLMs and MANY MANY more!
Posts here will give examples of the lies told by 'top bots' who portray luxury lifestyles in order to lure in new victims and of the other techniques and brainwashing used by MLMs.
The reality is that 97% of people who join an MLM end up LOSING money. Always bear that in mind when considering paying money to join!

I hope you don’t get flamed louiseaaa.

Do you mind sharing how much profit the mlm aspect of your job makes? And how long you’ve been doing it for?

Are any of your upline ever mentioned on here?

louiseaaa · 19/01/2019 09:54

Nope

Firstly I've been personally using the products for 30 + years

In my last self employed tax return it was 20% of turnover - I'm sure that most of what I sell is pure profit because I'm not in the party business, and my overheads are part of the main business

None of my upline are on here and tbh the business model here - the only bit I recognise is the recruitment part - but even then - there are no rewards for recruiting, really . Only if they go on and sell and the recruits don't have to put a life changing amount of money down. The pack they get is well discounted too, so they're not contributing to sales volume unless they start selling, IYSWIM.

BSintolerant · 19/01/2019 10:45

Are you a beautician louiseaaa?

I've come across beauty therapists who use Neals Yard products and never try to recruit or push sales on their clients. Even so I'd never set foot in their salons because the whole MLM industry is rotten to the core.

notsurewhatshappening · 19/01/2019 11:36

I have to agree, seeing mlm products in a salon would really put me off booking a treatment. Can you tell us what company you are with Louisa?

notsurewhatshappening · 19/01/2019 11:37

And do you think it is possible to make a living from mlm alone, based on your experience?

thenextsmallthing · 19/01/2019 17:56

Ha I changed salons too recently as they started stocking a MLM range (bet you
can guess which). Shame as I did love the haircuts I got there.

WrenNatsworthy · 20/01/2019 10:31

I'm a massage therapist and I'm also a Neals Yard consultant.
I haven't found that my being a Neals Yard Consultant has had any negative effect on my business at all - the products are undeniably good and the sourcing is impeccable.
Even if the MLM side of the business closed I'd still use the products in my treatments, my clients love them.
I am always fully booked.
I think you may be talking about Doterra, who advise that people take essential oils internally. As a qualified aromatherapist I have always thought this dangerous, and I find the whole company worrying.
I appreciate that you people on this thread would probably avoid me and call me a bot, but I'd still get clients because I'm good at what I do.

Hunbot · 20/01/2019 11:32

Anyone know anything about flamingo papiere. A friend has joined and went to a training thing yesterday. Looked at their stuff but doesn't seem overpriced at £2 a card. The distributors appear to make 20% commission so 40p a card. How on earth can they sell enough to make any money?

Spongebobette · 20/01/2019 12:08

@WrenNatsworthy I really like Neal's yard and stock up a few times a year when Waitrose has the products at 2/3 the normal price.

Good for you @Spongebobette

I've got customers who only buy from me when there's a sale on too.

Twentytwentyhindsight · 20/01/2019 20:18

Wig'n' Sleaze's latest Ponzi scheme is going to "end World poverty", apparently.

SSDGM · 21/01/2019 05:57

They’re still recycling the same Dubai holiday pics from 2 years ago when they did twelve whole flights in a year. Strangely enough since then they don’t seem to have gone much further than a cheap hotel in Oldbury.

9dartfinish2nd · 21/01/2019 12:57

As it's now been posted on MLM Lies Exposed on FB, I'm comfortable mentioning on here that the BBC are investigating FLP, Nu Skin and Younique for an upcoming documentary and are still looking to speak to people with a story to tell.

CurlsandCurves · 21/01/2019 13:06

Wow, they’re going after FLP amongst others? Thought no one ever dared get into anything with them because of their legal team.

This could be verrrrry interesting.

SassitudeandSparkle · 21/01/2019 13:11

Hunbot Flamingo is the new name for Phoenix Cards - they have some lovely stuff IME (MLM in nice-and-useful items shocker!) but I don't think it's a high profit one, no.

Twentytwentyhindsight · 21/01/2019 13:13

@9dartfinish2nd - it seems they are targeting a fairly narrow segment - direct personal involvement and aged 18 to 'mid-thirties'...

9dartfinish2nd · 21/01/2019 13:21

@Twentytwentyhindsight - Think it may reflect the increase in young women, particularly SAHM's and also university students who have been increasingly targeted in recent times.

I just hope the documentary goes in a bit harder that the BBC stories piece from last year that covered FLP and Valentus.

Hunbot · 21/01/2019 14:46

I thought she had some nice stuff and I do pay £2 for birthday cards at Christmas. Slight dilemma here. I don't support mlm's but actually her stuff isn't overpriced like most of them so would it be wrong to buy from her? Tricky tricky

Just so, Sponge. Smile

Paddy1234 · 21/01/2019 20:24

Huge cash flow problem for her
She has put all her money into her pop up shop to the extent that she cannot fulfil any online orders as there is no stock.
Smoke and mirrors
That bloody family

Whiterangey · 21/01/2019 21:15

Her company lost 100k last year.

So 8 × -100000 is the number you need to work out.

Whiterangey · 21/01/2019 21:17

She also recently sold off her online stock at a reduced price, I'm guessing because she desperately needed the money.

Her chairman's bonus cheque last year was less than 10k.

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 21/01/2019 21:24

Maybe this is why her house is on the market...
