Anti MLM/ Network marketing thread NUMBER 43!!

Spongebobette · 29/09/2018 18:17

This is the 43rd thread in a long series about the dangers of network marketing/ MLMs such as Forever Living, Ariix, NuSkin, Arbonne, Younique, TS Life, and MANY MANY more!
Posts here will give examples of the lies told by 'top bots' who portray luxury lifestyles in order to lure in new victims and of the other techniques and brainwashing used by MLMs
Over 90% of people who join an MLM end up LOSING money. Always bear that in mind when considering paying money to join!

...or possibly it was the bizarre MLM social media network they mentioned once or maybe twice? That must’ve done it.

Unless it was the car thing...?

hoopdeloop · 22/10/2018 22:12

Hi all, wondering if you wise ones can help. My friend’s sister has seemingly become involved in an MLM but we can’t figure out what the company is called or anything about it. She’s posted about fake tan, lip plumping stuff and other bits and bobs but there are no brand details unlike the usual younique crap. Anyone any the wiser on what this new one is?

Electrascoffee · 22/10/2018 22:56

Sounds like Nu Skin

hoopdeloop · 23/10/2018 08:50

Thank you, had a look at their website and it seems to be them. Any reason as to why the brand name is covered up on all their posts (aside from obviously not wanting to show it’s mlm shite)

SSDGM · 23/10/2018 09:17

Because if you google it, you may find out it’s actually cheap crap and the reviews are awful.

Also, the bots think it opens dialogue.they can PM you, Hun!

Happypuppy · 23/10/2018 10:02

I use the Plum app to save money and am in their Facebook group.

It’s been spammed galore today by these posts? Sounds a bit dodgy/MLM?

This is a new currency and payment network built by ex-PayPal guys, called Initiative Q. The Q currency is currently being allocated for free if you are invited by an existing member.
The idea is that if millions of people join, Q could become a leading payment network, and, according to well-known economic models, that means the value of the reward would be around $130,000.
The amount you reserve decreases every day, and each member has a limited number of invites. You can use my invite link here:
(Removed)
(Don’t worry. No funny stuff. You just need to give your name and email and your spot is reserved).

Norma27 · 23/10/2018 10:29

I would say that sounds very dodgy!

Spongebobette · 23/10/2018 11:02

Oh great way to harvest lots of emails

Funny how even with all the supplements forever living bots and their families take, how ill they constantly are.

ArbunneHun · 23/10/2018 11:12

Post-natal bot claims the drinking gel has speeded up the healing process following her c-section! ‘tis magical stuff indeed, that aloe gloop!

Sign me up, FL huns! Chairman’s Bonus here I come!

ArbunneHun · 23/10/2018 11:15

Bloody hell - sounds like Broke’s Ex has joined yet another MLM. After announcing her return to the V Sisterhood a couple of weeks ago, she’s now bragging about being in the ‘founders’ group’ of something new and implying that it just paid for her trip to Dubai.

Anyone got any clue as to what it is?

ArbunneHun · 23/10/2018 11:23

Also - rant warning - how manipulative, desperate and botted-up do you have to be to use your child’s illness to promote your business? If I see one more post about “my business lets me drop everything and snuggle on the sofa with my sick child”/ “love being my own boss because I can be a real mum to my sick kids”/ “I don’t need to call in sick, I can just concentrate on my sick baby” + filtered pic of bot grinning with sick child promoted over their social media in an obvious attempt to guilt-trip working parents or propose a solution to someone struggling to find childcare... I’m sorry, I think that is not only unsisterly towards other women but also a deliberate, calculated means of using your own child’s sickness to try to make yourself richer.

Not having a go at one person in particular here: I’ve seen it over and over again and it disgusts me.

SSDGM · 23/10/2018 11:36

Travel agent friends of mine have been in discussion with the BBC about Inteletravel, who’s bots are still insisting they are in the process of getting ABTA and ATOL certification. It’s been 3 years since I encountered my first Inteletravel bot and they were “in the process” back then too.

A group of agents wrecked a bots page of offers a few days ago which was hilarious to watch. The bot reckoned she had a hotel deal £3000 cheaper than booking.com.

The booking offer was a 2 bedroom suite for s family of 4 on a refundable rate, the Inteletravel offer was 2 adults in a standard garden view room on a full cancellation policy. Her husband finally piped up and called the agents “a bunch of negative m*ngs”.

So that’s nice.

legocardsagain · 23/10/2018 11:55

I've been lurking for a long while. I have a dilemma. A very good friend of mine is hosting a Tropic party, the bot is a friend of my friends sister.

I won't buy anything.

Is it wrong to go anyway, to support my friend? Or is it more wrong to go, knowing I will be taking up their time and sampling products the bot has to pay for?

And if I don't go, should I tell friend the real reason? Or is it a bit of a dick move to say I'm not coming to your party because I don't agree with the unsustainable business model?

Norma27 · 23/10/2018 12:24

I got invited to a tropic party last week too! I replied saying sorry I can’t go as I don’t go to mlm parties and do not approve of the way mlms operate.

ArbunneHun · 23/10/2018 12:25

I’d be very interested to know how the Inteletravel bots are communicating/funding the enhanced protections that came into law in July: the Enhanced Package Protections and the Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations. Basically, if you buy two or more elements of a holiday (say a hotel booking and car hire) from one provider (say an Inteletravel bot) you now have ABTA level protections. If you know an MLM travel bot, do ask them about these regs and how the company is communicating them? ABTA or no ABTA, that’s the law now and I’d love to know how they are insuring themselves to offer these protections.

Twentytwentyhindsight · 23/10/2018 12:56

Is there yet any evidence of Inteletravel bots actually selling any holidays here?

Even Brokebot came to the conclusion that it was a Ponzi scheme, with the rewards coming from recruiting other wannabe 'independent travel agents".

The point of liability is probably immaterial if this is the case.

If an Inteletravel bot, by some weird fluke, did manage to flog a holiday, I am sure they are completely unaware of their responsibility and potential liability should anything go wrong, as the 'training' provided seems to be validated if you can point North out on a map in the online test.

Once again, the liability issue would probably be immaterial, as the bots are unlikely to have any assets that could cover their liability if the shit hit the fan.

Very much a caveat emptor situation, although I would contend that anyone purchasing a holiday from those clowns is asking for trouble.

Spongebobette · 23/10/2018 13:04

@legocardsagain

I sympathise, it’s so hard when a friend puts you in this situation, she’ll be holding the party to ‘support’ her friend and then you feel you should go to ‘support’ her

Your friend might end up buying something and so will others at the party, because they don’t want to appear unsupportive

Then the bot gets a false sense of how easy it is to be in ‘business’

And this is how they get you

legocardsagain · 23/10/2018 13:12

@Spongebobette

You're so right! It's all about the support. I run my own business (a proper one!) and my friends have been massively supportive of me. It feels really rude to refuse to go. But equally, don't want poor tropic bot to use products, that she has to pay for, to give me free skincare treatments when I know full well I won't buy anything.

I need some big girl pants, don't I?

SSDGM · 23/10/2018 15:03

I have heard from agent friends that they have lost bookings to Inteletravel, Plus the story about the bot not giving correct info regarding Cuban visas/ arrival cards that cost a customer £100s and Inteletravel are refusing to compensate.
There’s also an email out there where one bot says you can get by with not selling holidays and just recruiting.
There was a page set up by angry ex bots detailing the awful practices not too long ago but it was zucc’d and the page owner banned from FB. During that time the new ATOL regulations came into force and bots were told by a mega bot that they had to book each component of the holiday over 24 hours after the last one to circumvent the rules. There’s also a post on an Inteletravel page where it’s admitted they’ve “suspended” selling flights until they have the right licenses.

Twentytwentyhindsight · 23/10/2018 15:34

@SSDGM - I'm gobsmacked that anyone in their right mind would spend on such a big ticket item as a holiday with those clowns. Looking at their profiles and websites, I would not trust them to book a table at my local curry house.

Interesting though that the company is actively telling bots how to swerve the package holiday protection rules- what a bunch of shysters...

Sunshineandshowers81 · 23/10/2018 16:27

Bbl bot is in hospital with sepsis. Awful and wouldn't wish it on anyone but she is still constantly updating her social media with I'll pictures of herself. how horrible to be in an industry where you can't even rest in hospital without having to promote it

fitgirl26 · 23/10/2018 16:33

@ArbunneHun - judging by her comments on her mate Welshbot's posts Broke's Ex is now in the travel business. Welshbot seems to have passed 11 modules on "online university" in a week and is now a fully qualified travel agent...

Whiterangey · 23/10/2018 17:05

Don't know who Bbl bot is but I hope she fully recovers. Sepsis is a horrible horrible thing.

It's very sad she feels she still has to be 'working' while so terribly ill.

BangingOn · 23/10/2018 18:58

I notice Yawn has resurrected her business page again and is on a recruitment drive. Was Yawn also called Brow once upon a time?
