MLM Bot Watch 40 - Forever Living is 40! Yet still 99% of people in all MLM's lose money

Not making money with Forever Living?

Not making money with any MLM?

How to make money with Forever Living?
How to make money with MLM?

Maybe this report done for the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) by Jon M. Taylor, MBA, Ph.D., of the Consumer Awareness Institute may have the reason why.

www.ftc.gov/sites/default/files/documents/public_comments/trade-regulation-rule-disclosure-requirements-and-prohibitions-concerning-business-opportunities-ftc.r511993-00008%C2%A0/00008-57281.pdf

When someone urges you to join an MLM in their downline with tales of the riches you can earn, all they are trying to do is use you to earn themselves more money. They know the stats, they know you won't make money and you will lose money, and friends.

They will lovebomb you, be your best friend, be all over you and then drop you like a stone.

Look at the person who is your uplines facebook. See how the people who were tagged in her statuses a year ago the same way you are tagged now are doing. Are they still with the company? Many won't be. Those who are will still not be doing well, exactly the same as a year ago, or two years ago.

If you are in Forever living, check facebook for the global rally cheques of your upline, notice how they have been going down year on year? The market reached saturation point in 2015, it's downhill since then and things will get worse, not better.

Most MLM's in the UK are at the same point, we are not a huge country and MLM's have reached saturation point.

Mielabel - Doterra famously had to be told not to claim their products cured Ebola:-

Just watching Broke's latest live. Advertising the universal benefits of CBD oil while constantly disclaiming that he's making any health claims.

dadandmum · 04/06/2018 18:05

Did anyone else notice that Yawn was waving around old £10 notes on that photo?

Ladiva1971 · 04/06/2018 18:08

Yeah and she has £130...…...

Twentytwentyhindsight · 04/06/2018 18:12

Having to use stock photos 'cos she can't scrape the money together these days.

Paddy1234 · 04/06/2018 18:52

Not sure that PhD bot's Sisu system is really taking off with the number of likes it has generated. Bit of copy and paste going on unless she is now working in dollars.
Wtf is sisu anyway and what skills has she got that can product launch?!?!?
These guys are certified barking

Paddy1234 · 04/06/2018 19:20

It would be easy to see how FL/other Mlm's screw and mess with your life.
Take a normal popular mother and track Facebook status's over course of year.
To see the downward trend when others stop interacting with them is actually heartbreaking.
I have just looked at one and on previous posts, all her family posts had 100 likes at the beginning. Six months later 30/40 and indispersed with FL posts getting a couple of likes.
Slowly but surely sucked into the cult ......

Dogjustguffed · 04/06/2018 19:26

Comments from Yawn’s post. It actually makes me quite sad- the bot has been trying to save money for her wedding. FLP was supposed to help her do that. Instead she’s spent a fortune “being the product”, and is now being pressured into signing up for a course. We all know that this course won’t change anything and I hope this bot doesn’t throw away more money.

It just shows how manipulative it is. Awful.

I have a serious question about mental health. I see a fair number of bots at all levels (including quite senior leaders) posting about their stress, depression & anxiety, some of them even stepping away from social media/their MLM because of it.

Firstly, surely the constant pressure of recruiting/selling/hitting targets/making that bonus/getting that promotion MUST be a contributing factor to their mental health state.

Secondly, how does this square with all of the ‘choose happiness’/‘eliminate negativity’ mindset bollocks? Surely if mindset training is as effective as they claim when they charge you £40 for a 20 min sessions, you’d just ‘choose’ not to be unwell?

This is absolutely not me having a pop at anyone suffering from any kind of mental illness, just pointing out what an utterly toxic and destructive environment MLM is for anyone who is brought low by it.

cozietoesie · 04/06/2018 19:48

It's not genuinely geared to individuals. Is it?

Jonsey32 · 04/06/2018 20:12

Dogjustguffed

I really want to message that bot and just tell her to give it all up now. It’s just so sad.

Dogjustguffed · 04/06/2018 20:52

@ArbunneHun you are spot on. The MLM tendency is to prey on the vulnerable, and blame the victim bot rather than the flawed system they operate in. Not exactly good for mental health Angry in fact exactly the opposite. That’s what they rely on to retain bots and keep them spending, I guess.

Jonsey, I know, me too. The number of times I have seen that particular bot trying so hard to get friends to buy that overpriced crap...

Toobusytowee · 04/06/2018 22:38

Milabel, if you are ever looking for information on an MLM, have a look at the database of MLMs on Botwatch.blog. I have put a lot of information on there about hundreds of MLMs. DoTERRA is there.

Natasha, I understand that you like your successful team member but from where I’m standing she is not so great. To be successful and have a large team and a big income, many, many people will have lost money. Lots of people will have tried the ‘business’ and failed, blaming themselves.

Either a high up person will have no idea what is going on beneath them, or they choose to ignore it.

Then we need to consider just how successful she really is. Look at the top people in your ex-company and see how badly they are doing. It’s all smoke and mirrors.

Your friend would do well to drop out and put her skills to good use in a real business. Congratulating her and supporting her will only serve to keep her (and her downtrodden downlines) in the scheme for longer.

entrepeneur · 04/06/2018 23:16

Brokebot has given up coffee apparently. Organo must have left a bad taste in his mouth! Having said that, CBD oil tastes pretty bad too.

Whiterangey · 05/06/2018 02:01

I agree with @Toobusytowee over 99% of all those underneath her will have lost money, self respect, friends, and basically made to feel shitty about themselves because they failed.

When she brings someone new onboard and they are about to pay £200 for their business in a box does she tell them they have over a 99% chance of losing money?

Have you told her the statistics? Maybe show her the article that is linked in the first post of this thread. Tell her that if she has say 100 people in her downline, only 1 of those will be making a profit, likely only a small one as well.

@Mielabel. Yes there are some far-fetched claims made by DoTerra as well as bad advice given about consuming essential oils.
Then of course there’s the simple fact that it’s an MLM and inherently a rip off NO MATTER WHAT THEIR PRODUCT IS!
SERIOUSLY !!!! That is ALL THE INFORMATION YOU NEED.. However if you want more....
They will tell you the quality is better than others- HELLO! They are ESSENTIAL oils. Meaning the essence of specific plants. This is a product that originated thousands of years ago in ancient Egypt. The methods of extracting essential oils from plants are fundamentally much the same today as they have been for most of history, therefore the only claim that might be made about quality comes from the source of the plants themselves. Organic or wild being the only distinctions. There are many other brands of essential oils which are of at least equal quality and practically all of them are cheaper!
Just another product being used to obscure a fraudulent pyramid scheme scam.

sshuga · 05/06/2018 04:51

Agree toobusytowee

NatashaShingles · 05/06/2018 10:30

That’s the point though. Not everyone lies about their situation and not everyone forces people into debt. She has helped her team make money, she doesn’t push for people to do 4cc, she doesn’t promise riches, she doesn’t make her team work when they give birth, I’m all for calling out th big players for underhanded bullshit but there really are exceptional people in there too whether you agree with it or not. When the BBC documentary came out she was the first to message and tell me how proud she was. She had always encouraged me to be myself, never made me feel I had to tow a line. Everyone who has worked with her learns how to sell product not garage stock. If anything both my upline told me off when I moved to the big house, told me to save etc rather than spend. Ok maybe that behaviour is rare but it doesn’t mean it’s non existent. After 4 years of knowing her, 3 of which were spent working closely with her I can hand on heart say she is absolutely nothing like your typical MLM leaders. She’s not a big name, she hasn’t got a huge team, she’s not about flashy lifestyle and I would imagine it would be hard to find many people from her down line old and new who would say different.

smiinky · 05/06/2018 11:06

Hey Botwatchers, very long time since I posted! Been busy with my genuine #laptoplifestyle #workfromhomeopportunity Thought of you all as I have the hump, having just been messaged by a total stranger after being in a local news group for just two days. Sigh. Just wondering if FB's revised ads policy is now affecting the likes of browbot. Eg, vague lifestyle/riches posts are no longer permitted and it sounds as if you may be prevented from boosting them. didn't a lot of the top bots rely on boosting posts? I raged at a boosted post (from Castle bot) that appeared on my FB feed last year. I then received an angry direct message from her brother, threatening me with the police. Lovely folk aren't they? I wonder if she is still able to boost her vague riches/lifestyle posts or no? Lots of interesting stuff in the q and a sections on FB if you search for mlm advertising on Facebook. www.facebook.com/business/help/community/question/?id=10154812919997980

Paddy1234 · 05/06/2018 11:08

Natasha - I do get your point.
However the point is, that the business model in FL is so flawed that inadvertently however professional someone tries to be there will always be downlines that cannot succeed and therefore get into debt because of promised riches - most likely not from the person you have worked under but by others. I just think that she would succeed so much more in a traditional ethical business model with those skills.
I have just read a thread of bots discussing the global rally next year and bots wanting to be a part of and thinking of getting there own flights and an Airbnb. That is just so wrong and you know that they will have been directed that way from the higher bots.

smiinky · 05/06/2018 11:14

I recognise that hotel where the global rally will be - I stayed there for a work conference 20 years ago. For free. Fully expensed (including days out and spa treatments).

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 05/06/2018 11:24

Dora or someone in the know please can you explain......how can a bot have already qualified for next years global rally?

The bot in question BTW is Castle's BFF who had twins about 6 months ago. Has she not spent anytime with her kids and worked her butt off in the last few months or is there something odd going on?

I wonder if Yawn has already NOT qualified Wink

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 05/06/2018 11:36

Realistically though how much work does this entail for her?

Do they usually announce qualifiers this early on, they've only just got back from this year's rally. I don't remember it happening before

Norma27 · 05/06/2018 12:53

Loving yawn’s advice to ‘stay humble’. Ha ha!
Her posts seem so desperate now. As she has been so happy to see others lose money, I might raise a toast when her empire collapses.
