MLM Bot Watch 40 - Forever Living is 40! Yet still 99% of people in all MLM's lose money

Not making money with Forever Living?

Not making money with any MLM?

How to make money with Forever Living?
How to make money with MLM?

Maybe this report done for the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) by Jon M. Taylor, MBA, Ph.D., of the Consumer Awareness Institute may have the reason why.

www.ftc.gov/sites/default/files/documents/public_comments/trade-regulation-rule-disclosure-requirements-and-prohibitions-concerning-business-opportunities-ftc.r511993-00008%C2%A0/00008-57281.pdf

When someone urges you to join an MLM in their downline with tales of the riches you can earn, all they are trying to do is use you to earn themselves more money. They know the stats, they know you won't make money and you will lose money, and friends.

They will lovebomb you, be your best friend, be all over you and then drop you like a stone.

Look at the person who is your uplines facebook. See how the people who were tagged in her statuses a year ago the same way you are tagged now are doing. Are they still with the company? Many won't be. Those who are will still not be doing well, exactly the same as a year ago, or two years ago.

If you are in Forever living, check facebook for the global rally cheques of your upline, notice how they have been going down year on year? The market reached saturation point in 2015, it's downhill since then and things will get worse, not better.

Most MLM's in the UK are at the same point, we are not a huge country and MLM's have reached saturation point.

@Lebranic - It is incredibly hard to give them a 'polite' brush-off.

MLM bots are so used to being fed the line that everyone around them is a 'prospect' to be worked on relentlessly until they see the light that it would take punching them in the throat repeatedly while shouting "I would rather drown in a bucket of cold vomit!" for them to shift you onto their "not at the moment" list.

Good luck.

Lebranic · 03/06/2018 21:33

I feel like she is holding the class as a carrot, so I should probably forget about it.
I don't know why the details of this exciting business can only be divulged face to face!
OK I may just ignore her message then. Thanks

Twentytwentyhindsight · 03/06/2018 21:47

It is the sort of manipulative behaviour MLMers do resort to.

The idea is that you will find it harder to refuse a proposition face-to-face, and you're more likely to be jumped into a snap decision.

The secrecy over the 'opportunity' is the same. You will not have been able to carry out your research and find anything negative, putting you at a disadvantage.

The twisted thing is, she has probably been conditioned to believe that she is actually doing you a favour and that this blackmailing behaviour is perfectly acceptable.

Lebranic · 03/06/2018 21:58

My arbonne friend did once somehow convince me to spend a lot of money that I didn't really have on their very average products. She drove me to her uplines house and they both badgered me until I bought this gold bag full of various unnecessary potions, as I felt they would not let me leave until I gave in! I never felt the same about her after that and have distanced myself from her, and I am completely against mlms now.

cozietoesie · 03/06/2018 22:03

....I don't know why the details of this exciting business can only be divulged face to face!....

Because they're ......advised that it's way more effective. Get someone over a cup of coffee and they're more likely to say Yes. (It's more difficult to say No someone you know in your own kitchen or living room.)

Paddy1234 · 03/06/2018 22:38

Ooh look what's come up on my timeline from a friend and no bots have defended it

@lebranic why not say you’ve got a lot on at mo so let’s sort the class out etc then once you’ve got that done you’ll have a bit more time to have a chat with her! Then if you must have the chat just look interested tell her you’ll go home and have a think about it and politely message a few days later and say it’s just not for you but you wish her lots of luck 👍🏼👍🏼

NatashaShingles · 03/06/2018 22:50

@paddy That ingredient is also in Colgate. In fairness, FLP products are as regulated as any other products sold in UK.

cozietoesie · 03/06/2018 22:51

How would you have behaved if you'd received that message, Natasha?

NatashaShingles · 03/06/2018 23:11

@cozie I would show people and let them decide! But then I wasn’t a pushy sales wanker! I always had the theory it won’t be for everyone and I was cool with that. Hence why my team was 300 in 3 years and not 5000 strong! I recruited 49 frontline in my 3 years, 19 of which were only ever customers who wanted a discount and had no intention of using it as an income! So 30 people that I personally recruited to help build an income. 10 a year. 3 of which became frontline managers. Was never about mass recruiting for us. We were always taught to build on retail. Most of my recruits were people who came to me I never really had to go looking.

Paddy1234 · 03/06/2018 23:12

Agree - but I wish they would get there facts right - just checked the stick and they look identical

Roomie Bot's at it again. She's been preaching to "over 1000 customers" from her sunbed.

She's learning, though - this time she didn't post a screenshot of the live showing a grand total of 9 viewers.

cozietoesie · 04/06/2018 00:55

You were fortunate, Natasha^^ A bit unusual as well. Smile

NatashaShingles · 04/06/2018 01:16

@paddy1234 the picture may be of old stock. I know many products were revised to have ingredients taken out a few years ago. It may be that there’s still old stock being sold.

NatashaShingles · 04/06/2018 01:22

@cozie this is why I came on here defending MLM originally. My experience of it at that time wasn’t how I was seeing it portrayed at all. I’ve always said, after stepping away and seeing the wider picture since, I realise now just how fortunate I was to be sponsored into a team that didn’t behave the way I’ve seen so many others behave. I recently publicly congratulated my Flp sponsor on her latest promotion because she deserves it. She was incredible at retailing, she was incredible at getting the best out of people and still continues to do so. There’s not a bad bone in her body and she has the biggest heart. We never knew if she was working towards promotions or incentives as she wouldn’t tell us! She never made us feel like we were working for her and her ethics carried down through the team. Do I think that’s rare in MLM? Absolutely! But I assumed back then everyone had the same, that MLM was that way for all. Sadly we know this isn’t the case

Nakedavenger74 · 04/06/2018 09:44

I can't believe Roomie keeps boasting about that 'garden'. It looks like a back yard in Coronation Street littered with loads of junk. Horrible corrugated plastic fence and some distressed wooden plaques with twee beach related missives.

ArbunneHun · 04/06/2018 10:21

Utility Warehouse is being investigated by Ofgem for possibly breaching the rules in the way that it manages vulnerable customers who are in debt. This includes them not offering appropriate repayment plans and installing pre-payment meters.

I bet the business model has a lot to do with this... just saying.

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 04/06/2018 12:22

I think Roomie is going to need help folks.

#101uses (for an aloe bottle)

How about:
A few cases of them could (and probably are) prop the garage door open?

BSintolerant · 04/06/2018 12:47

They'll be holding up the garage roof too.

Mielabel · 04/06/2018 14:20

Any specific info on Doterra? I have someone pushing it quite hard and insisting I have an open mind so cold hard facts against it would be useful.

Whiterangey · 04/06/2018 14:35

Doterra is essential oils isn't it?

They make really wild claims about what the oils can cure. There was a screenshot on one of the facebook anti-mlm pages a couple of weeks ago from someone who has a very sick parent in a coma in hospital, and someone suggested essential oils. They were either from Doterra or Young Living I believe. I'm still gobsmacked over that one.

I am really worried that Yawn won't be getting another huge cheque next year. Her new recruit has gone to 4cc recognition and is number 3 and 5 in her team. Surely that level of downline must be worrying.

ArbunneHun · 04/06/2018 15:16

Don’t worry @Paddy - she has this year’s cheque to fall back on!

Twentytwentyhindsight · 04/06/2018 15:35

It'll be bigger even than this years, a whole extra zero bigger.

Whiterangey · 04/06/2018 16:09

Isn't Roomie in her downline?

Roomie who is absolutely smashing it?

Why isn't she on the list?
