TSB Clusterfuck

Undercoverbanana · 28/04/2018 07:28

Does anyone else bank with TSB?

I haven’t been online to look at my account since this disaster started because there seems little point. I’m very fortunate that I haven’t needed to.

Obviously I’m concerned for my finances and security and also very sorry to hear that front line staff in call centres and branches have been getting awful abuse for something that is nothing to do with the,.

What are the experiences of others and how are you feeling about it?

I’m still unable to transfer money out of account and 50% of the time it tells me my password is wrong but accepts it again 5 minutes later.
I’ve had to take time off work on Monday morning to go into branch to make a transfer.
The site itself is very poor even without the above issues imo.

Undercoverbanana · 28/04/2018 07:38

It’s a PR disaster for sure.

I wonder if I ought to look? But if there are things wrong it doesn’t sound like they can put things right at the moment.

I am only assuming that my salary has gone in as per normal and that my dds are going out.

I seem to be able to buy shopping with my card ok.

I had a potentially embarrassing moment at supermarket when doing a big shop and card declined Shock at a very busy checkout, tried again and it seemed to accept it second attempt. Phew, I had no other cards nor much cash as alternative. Nightmare.

Going to pop in to branch today to find out what position is and get cash out.

Undercoverbanana · 28/04/2018 07:51

HagueBlue2018 - Thank you - I was reading that this morning. It doesn’t read well does it?

GoldenKelpie - Not good. I don’t even know if I have a branch anywhere near me. I have become totally reliant on online banking. Actually online everything!

OP posts:
Undercoverbanana · 28/04/2018 10:48

Ok - I got brave.

I logged on and it’s all there. Salary in, dds out. I didn’t try to do any transactions but I may try a transfer later.

I wonder who is responsible for this debacle? Whoever it is, you can get they have protected themselves with massive contractual pay-offs.

I’m still getting a message saying there’s too many people trying to log on. Even at 5am. I’m in NI and there’s no branches here :/ thankfully it’s used as a savings account rather than bills.

specialsubject · 28/04/2018 12:31

i have tsb accounts but fortunately only for savings. this blunder is unbelievable. house sales have fallen through, people have been unabl e to buy food etc. they warned about onlin e banking outage but not that basic functions would be wrecked.

leave as soon as you can

i also hope that all on mn who laugh at people who have cash have learned something. the defence is to have at least two accounts with two completely different banking licences and always have some cash.

excu se spaces, mn cant write code eithe r.

ragged · 28/04/2018 12:41

Anyone looking back with amusement at recent MN threads about how great it is to live cash-free? I wonder how those folk are getting on this week.

Good news coverage this week about how TSB tested their new system on 70,000 people, but still not enough. And every other bank is just as behind in upgrading their systems to how they'd like. So more clusterfucks on horizon for sure.

Undercoverbanana · 28/04/2018 14:23

There are going to be small businesses in all sorts of trouble. They can’t pay staff, suppliers, they can’t check incoming money.

House sales falling through? How the hell are TSB going to compensate for that?

I feel so bad for the front line staff on the phones. Apparently they are getting so much abuse.

The other banks are going to be upgrading too apparently. I read an article that said high street banks’ systems are held together by sticking plaster and they will all need saving. I hope they learn from this.

I’ve managed to get into my online banking now and it seems fine. I had to go into the branch to pay my credit card bill which was also fine, they did say it might not clear right away but it does seem to have cleared.

The problem I have is my broadband charges to my credit card and when they tried to put it through last week it bounced, so they’ve tried again and it’s been rejected again. I don’t understand it as I paid my road tax online last Sunday night and it has gone through on my credit card fine. I went to the bank today and they couldn’t see any reason why it would have bounced and then not gone through a second time. All very odd and quite annoying.

Undercoverbanana · 29/04/2018 06:49

Tried to buy something online and the payment failed.

Perhaps I do have a problem, after all.

I am fortunate to have an alternative account with another bank for emergencies. I wonder if lots of other people haven’t? And it’s still rumbling on!

OP posts:
PenApple · 29/04/2018 06:54

I have no alternative bank, I’ve not had a problem paying online or in shops yet, although I haven’t been able to log on to check balance since this started. Getting more pissed off the more I try and fail.

Oweeeee · 30/04/2018 18:26

Huge issue today with TSB, won’t bore you all with the issue but the final balance was due for my holiday this afternoon. TSB computer issue meant I didn’t have the funds to pay despite actually having the funds in my accounts.

Spent almost 3 hours in branch with a lovely advisor and equally lovely bank manager who finally got things sorted after trying everything in their power.

Everyone in branch was pissed off today, all 3 ladies seeing to customers were clearly shattered, at one point I thought one would cry. She said they’d begged head office to publicly state that branches were having the same issues as online/telephony teams.

After they’d helped me I popped back with some flowers for the extra lovely advisor and son chocs for her to share with the others. She was really taken aback. I really really felt for them all.

I plan on emailing head office to compliment the team and will tweet also.

Maybe the bonus I’ve read about for the big boss could be shared amongst the front line staff? They certainly deserve it

Undercoverbanana · 30/04/2018 19:11

I wonder what communication is being made to staff by the big bosses. I wonder what support they are getting. I think I know the answer.

OP posts:
Undercoverbanana · 30/04/2018 19:14

Oweeeee - that was really kind of you. I bet they’ve had all sorts of abuse from some people. I think they need to know that the customers understand it is not their fault and don’t blame them. They are just trying to pay for their rent and food like the rest of us and have no power or control over these things.

OP posts:
MarshaBradyo · 30/04/2018 19:17

My card was declined the other day. Luckily she paid but it was a faff. Worrying to think some may have it as only source of funds

MarshaBradyo · 30/04/2018 19:18

Dh paid I mean

Oweeeee · 30/04/2018 19:35

They couldn’t have done more for me today, I didn’t have to stress my situation whatsoever, they apologized over and over again. If it weren’t for the service I’d received today I would be making moves to leave as we speak. It’s people like those who helped me today who should be rewarded.

When I spoke to the manager he said he had just been on a national teleconference and he had stressed that TSB needed to do more for branch staff and manage customer expectation better with more comms.

He was genuinely v concerned about the stress his staff were under but he himself worked a 70 hour week last week so imagine he’s feeling it too.

I hope they do go home feeling a tiny bit better for the chocs and flowers, was the least I could do and she seemed very touched

specialsubject · 30/04/2018 22:57

destroying the system that the branches use with what was supposed to be just a change to online and mobile services indicates an unbelievable level of incompetence and manqgement lies. i was having problems with them before the disaster weekend but I have now lost all faith.

my accounts have survived and they are just savings, so no urgency for me - but the constant management lies are unforgiva ble. trouble is that the bank is effectively uncontactable, so any problem you are totally stuffed.

i cannot see how this bank can continue.

Undercoverbanana · 01/05/2018 06:39

Is anyone else getting a lot of scam emails claiming to be from TSB at the moment? I think the scammers are using the vulnerability.

OP posts:
specialsubject · 01/05/2018 11:59

those on twitter are pointing out that as TSB are currently uncontactable, any contact is a scam by definition!

Undercoverbanana · 02/05/2018 07:29

I’m hearing on the radio that the boss of TSB is going to have a meeting with MPs today. What are MPs going to do about it? Isn’t it just a case of a company making a massive cock-up? If a crime is suspected, shouldn’t it be police dealing with it?

OP posts:
Undercoverbanana · 02/05/2018 07:42

I’ve just read that this bloke earns £4 million a year.

OP posts:
Oweeeee · 02/05/2018 08:15

I filled out a feedback form online praising their branch staff, I’m doubtful it will actually be feedback to them though.

I can’t see how Paul Pester can stay on after this, he was due a huge bonus too
