Thread 34 may be no more;
Thread 35 is quite alive.

Let's make sure it stays that way.

This thread is here to expose the garageful of lies pedalled by multi level marketing (network marketing) schemes, i.e outrageous health claims, unlimited wealth and residual earnings, to name but a few.

Well done to all who were involved with the programme, everyone was awesome.

Ariiiiiiix bot made an income statement, her last years accounts on companies house don't agree with that income statement. Although i'm not sure i'm interpreting the information correctly, and they are micro-entity accounts and i'm not sure exactly what the difference is. Her company nearly got dissolved so that might have something to do with it. Just search for her full name on companies house and there they are.

I'm not saying that I doubted a bot who was making an income claim to convince people that MLM isn't a big scam, actually that is exactly what i'm saying.

cozietoesie · 15/02/2018 00:33

Yes. Well done all involved with the programme.

Out of interest, do any of the higher-ups give out details of their monthly/ annual income to their downlines?

cozietoesie · 15/02/2018 00:34

As in written details? Smile

Whiterangey · 15/02/2018 04:47

I doubt it, then they would have to tell the truth. If they do then it would be income only, not what they actually have after they have paid expenses and bought a garage full of product.

Does anyone know when the cut off is for the FL bonus cheques? At what point does any sales and recruiting they do stop being counted towards their bonus cheque?

On the subject of fl qualifying has anyone seen that Uber bot qualified at 7.5k this year; I’m sure she was a 15k qualifier at least last year! I can’t wait to see the bonus cheques they are going to be so much lower!

Spongebobette · 15/02/2018 09:08

Ah I’m sure the Forever Living bot’s have their excuses ready

I took this year off because I had a baby (funny that you never stopped posting and going to events, taking tiny baby with you )

I was focusing on renovating my house (no you weren’t)

Spongebobette · 15/02/2018 09:09

How do you know at what level people qualified, @myuser?

TizzleBizzle · 15/02/2018 09:20

I think Ariiix bot shows her true colours in last night's posts. Her "some women go out to work to get a break from the kids" line and "if a woman earns £1,000 per month but spends £800 on childcare surely it's better to earn £200 from home" both so wholeheartedly miss the point of why woman work, the benefits of childcare, the fact a woman who works is no less of a mum and most importantly that mlm does not provide a living wage for the vast majority of participants and for those it does it is at the expense of the people below them.

Yes, the working mother shaming makes me so angry. It’s nasty emotional manipulation.

It’s true that childcare is way too expensive and that opportunities for fulfilling, flexible, part-time work for parents are far too limited. But MLMs are not the solution. Equality & change is needed.

Thanks for posting the link to Victoria D! I missed it yesterday.

Helen Hayes did a great job - really clear when she got into her stride, especially about what needs to change. She must’ve been well-briefed... Wink

Avon is closing operations in Australia and New Zealand. Their representatives found out when everyone else did, many by it being posted on facebook by others.

So much for it being your own business.

ArbunneHun · 15/02/2018 12:33

Wow, that’s big news! Any detail on what’s behind the decision? Profits tailing off, I’m assuming.

puffyisgood · 15/02/2018 12:38

I'm not sure piggybot makes a great advocate for mlm... Something at the way her eyes bulge when she's preaching hint at real depths of anger/insanity not far below the surface.

A 'business' of that size wouldn't be required to report on profit and loss.

The one who really cracks me up though is the ex juice plus muscle mary who's supposedly the top dog in arriixx, the house he poses for photos in is just so stupidly large and opulent that it couldn't sensibly have been bought by almost anyone with such a new 'business', least of all an absurd startup pyramid scheme. I suppose he's either the janitor or it belongs to an employer or similar.

ArbunneHun · 15/02/2018 12:55

@puffyisgood just because someone lives in a house, it doesn’t mean that they own it. Many/most of these enormous, showy houses are rented and most of them are in relatively cheap parts of the country - Rochdale, rural N. Ireland, Wales etc. You can rent a McMansion for the price of renting a one bed flat in London/S East in some parts of the country.

But a big flashy house with a big flashy car on the drive gives a great impression. Even if you are paying every month just to borrow them.

Whiterangey · 15/02/2018 12:56

"As part of the company’s strategy to return Avon to long-term sustainable profitable growth, the focus will be on markets with the greatest potential for future growth to support its vision of becoming the world’s leading social beauty company.

In line with this, after a thorough deliberation on our performance, the direct selling conditions in the market, and potential for growth, we have considered all options for the business and it is with much sadness that we are announcing our decision to exit the Australia and New Zealand markets.”

'Business owners' obviously aren't pulling in enough money for them. It must be absolutely horrible to find out something like that on facebook.

puffyisgood · 15/02/2018 13:07

Avon used to be respectable back in the day, didn't it? I mean, I half suspect the reps used to get milked a little, buying testers and whatnot, but, still, there was no focus (or even way to earn via?) on recruitment; reps were given discrete exclusive territories; the products in a few cases (e.g. Sun lotion) stacked up perfectly well against high street alternatives.

But now...

ArbunneHun · 15/02/2018 13:15

Avon has been massively hit by the move of sales from the street to social media (no protected territories any more) and the fact that online shopping has become a way of life. You don’t need a rep sitting in your kitchen taking an order, you just do it over your phone... catalogue sales is becoming anachronistic.

puffyisgood · 15/02/2018 13:23

Yeah, in the US Avon's big 2009 Superbowl tv ad slot was seen as a watershed, for the first time they were trumpeting about 'income opportunities' rather than the product. I guess the old business model had been hammered so badly that they faced a choice between closing and using the old brand recognition to do something slightly different, namely a pyramid scheme.
