Thread 34 may be no more;
Thread 35 is quite alive.

Let's make sure it stays that way.

This thread is here to expose the garageful of lies pedalled by multi level marketing (network marketing) schemes, i.e outrageous health claims, unlimited wealth and residual earnings, to name but a few.

The BBC report, not showing on 'Catch Up' but on their website:

www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/stories-43049230/hun-this-could-be-your-opportunity-to-get-rich

Mielabel · 14/02/2018 12:13

I loved the first programme and thought it was a good intro for discussion but the live debate felt incredibly rushed and think it was a huge missed opportunity. I bet the MLM woman was pleased she didn't travel all that way for 5 mins like the other two did. Anyone know who the chap was who ran an anti MLM page?

fusspot66 · 14/02/2018 12:20

I just shared that BBC article to my school Mum who invited me to her 'new business venture'. (GLOW VIP ?Younique?)
We might just have saved one. Her response was friendly and encouraging.

Spongebobette · 14/02/2018 12:37

Yes well done!

Shame it wasn’t a longer programme with time to examine the false health claims though, I’d like to have seen them show examples of what bots have been claiming on FB posts that Aloe Vera goop can do! And the fact that Valentus weight loss claims are illegal

It’s brought some bots out of the woodwork in the comments though, great MLM bingo!

It’s not a pyramid scheme
Forever LIving has investors in people award
Not all MLMs are the same
Why can’t you leave people alone who just want to make a bit of income for their kids
There’s no pressure to recruit

PS was the ex FL now Ariiiix bot sitting on the toilet to do her interview?

ArbunneHun · 14/02/2018 13:35

I haven’t watched the programme yet, but big thanks to all who told their stories - you are brave and brilliant xxxx

ArbunneHun · 14/02/2018 14:11

I’ve just emailed Natalie Truswell at the BBC to thank her for all the time & commitment she put into creating that film. She did a really good job and was passionate about giving women the opportunity to speak out.

Annie65 · 14/02/2018 14:23

Just watched it. A huge well done to everyone involved, maybe the message is finally getting through.Smile

CheekySmile · 14/02/2018 17:02

Mielabel it was John Evans who runs the Juice Plus/MLM Lies Facebook page

Is tropic skincare an mlm? I've had an invite to a party. Not intending to go, but just wanted to know if it was one, so I can completely avoid it.
Tia

PancakeInMaBelly · 14/02/2018 19:18

Tropic = shite make up in aging dated palets.

Some poor lady sold out to Lord Sugar who turned her homemade lotion company into an mlm and she looks likes shes gonna cry at each "glammies" event.

"My" tropic rep tells you that its the only "natural" vegan brand thats really natural and vegan and other natural vegan brands are actually full of dreadful chemicals that'll give you cancer (not the companys official line Im sure but what my rep said. Sir Alan if you wanna sue I have pm screenshots!)

Huge expense to buy demo stock so you can do "pamper evenings" (shit hand/foot massages)

NatashaShingles · 14/02/2018 19:56

Soldiers going to war are brave, Im just an outspoken pain in the arse 😂😂😂 but thank you! Well done to everyone! X

ArbunneHun · 14/02/2018 20:07

That Timeless Vie hun reminded me of Danniiiiiii...

Can’t think why Grin

mycelialnetwork · 14/02/2018 20:19

Thanks pancake I was hoping it wasn't, but guessed it was. My poor friend. Hope she doesn't lose too much money, or too many friends!

PancakeInMaBelly · 14/02/2018 20:28

Tropic is "good" in that it doesnt have utah roots.

It has a rubbish comp plan though and requires reps to carry a lot of demo stock.

Tropic is VERY time consuming. Driving to peoples houses to spend an hour demoing only for them to spend maybe £5

The make up is horrible. The body care smells nice but nothing special. She wont get a lot of repeat orders

She'll probably lose money, but maybe not as much as with some other companies

BSintolerant · 14/02/2018 20:34

Thank you to everyone who took part in the BBC programme. Smile

Is there anywhere we can watch a replay of the debate?

OP posts:
acatcalledjohn · 14/02/2018 21:01

I'd love to see the debate as I only caught the tail end of it (and it's not on the Victoria Derbyshire FB page). Just watched the main film, and am very impressed with the reporting (just not a certain bot who implies that MLM is a better option than a regular job; she is clearly still a lying rasher).

Fab work to everyone involved. Obviously mentioning Natasha and Jenny, but especially those brave ladies who shared their stories on how they got in to debt and the strain it put on their relationships. You are a wonderfully brave bunch. Even "Ellie", who was represented by an actor.

You are amazingly strong women, all of you.

As for the shill bots who continue to advertise MLM and its 'opportunities': You are nothing compared to those brave women. Nothing.

ReformedBot · 14/02/2018 21:12

Castlebot has appeared in the mainstream media today but is there any mention of it? Nope! Not in team pages or her personal page! I guess FLP will be trying to ignore this. I doubt it will make it into their 'FLP in the media's section...

ArbunneHun · 14/02/2018 21:26

Yes, I’d LOVE to know what ‘leaders’ in FLP & Valentus are saying in their private groups.

If anyone has any insight, #PMmehun as I’ve promised to let the BBC know. I hope we’ve rattled a few people.

SSDGM · 14/02/2018 22:04

..... And amidst all that, our favourite manhun with a manbun, Brokebot, has paid £23 for a training course and is not now an independent travel agent! That’s nice, int it?

Tw1nsetAndPearls · 14/02/2018 22:13

The bot featured had written about the programme on her timeline and answered points that she felt she didn't get across.

Sacked arixx box has claimed that the programme is karma for getting her sacked.

Castlebot has been silent despite being featured.

Tw1nsetAndPearls · 14/02/2018 22:18

I love the fact that brokebot can qualify as a travel agent by getting 1/3 of the required information wrong, I don't want him planning my holiday.

He is saying that it isn't an MLM. Loads of bots are doing travel things now.

Tw1nsetAndPearls · 14/02/2018 22:46

Actually brokebot hasn't denied that the travel company is MLM, it just isn't certain MLMs.
