Thread 34 may be no more;
Thread 35 is quite alive.

Let's make sure it stays that way.

This thread is here to expose the garageful of lies pedalled by multi level marketing (network marketing) schemes, i.e outrageous health claims, unlimited wealth and residual earnings, to name but a few.

I think it’s hard for many of us here to acknowledge that some people can & do have a positive experience with MLM. The fact that @Barnbot has seen both the good and the bad makes her experience very valuable in understanding what participants go through and how we can better help/support them and lobby for industry change.

@dora spot on! ❤

WellThatsATurnipForTheBooks · 05/02/2018 12:25

Thank you for sharing Dora and Tash .

It's interesting to get a true insight of what happens within an MLM at all levels and it's good to hear that you're happy now.

It makes a mockery of those high up posting about their "perfect life" again on fb. Not sure who they're trying to convince, their potential victims or themselves?!

ArbunneHun · 05/02/2018 12:34

On a different subject... crypto-currency crack downs.

Despite the best efforts of our crypto ‘King & Queen’, it looks like tighter controls on crypto currencies/crypto trading are happening everyday. This - plus the massive collapse in value in the past 2 months - must mean that these nasty ponzis will collapse sooner rather than later.

If you’re reading this & you have any money invested in USI, Mass Cryp, iCenter Lite Bot: try to get your money out NOW. If you can...

I cant really ask my sil much about forever, but I am happy that she is just selling the products and not trying to live the dream. She was told by the lady that recruited her that she only had to work 5 hours a week and she would soon be like castlebot. My hubby has always wanted to live in a castle and I remember her telling him about castlebot and how she owned a castle. I wasn't there at the time but I told him the truth. I think she now treats it like a bit of holiday money, which is fine. Her upline btw reached Manager about a year ago and has stayed the same. Reading between the lines I think she has suffered from depression but she still believes the bullshit that is spouted to her. Shame really I feel sorry for her but am so glad my sil has seen the light and treats it as a normal part time job. Maybe one day I will be able to ask her about her experience but not yet.Smile

Spongebobette · 05/02/2018 12:40

@Annie

I think this is one of the worst things about MLMs, they are so seductive to people who are vulnerable, like your SIL. The positivity and love bombing must feel wonderful if you are struggling with MH issues, but then eventually the reality hits

Annie65 · 05/02/2018 12:50

Yes the love bombing was high. She won a laptop at the beginning which was put all over fb, with the caption "forever are so generous ." I know the 2 uplines brought the laptop, nothing to do with forever.

Spongebobette · 05/02/2018 13:31

Something else which has occurred to me, when comparing these MLMs to cults, is the similarity with the way Scientology treats members who leave; they call them SPs (suppressive persons), they are shunned and denigrated by the cult, it’s really nasty
A form of this happens with MLMs such as Forever Living; when you are in, you are in, and when you are out you are a failure, a neghead, a bitter person

Spongebobette · 05/02/2018 13:33

I’ve nevet seen anyone leave a MLM and be wished good luck by others!

NatashaShingles · 05/02/2018 14:19

@sponge I was to be fair! By my team, my sponsor and my upline. They still help me now. This is rare though! I think I was incredibly lucky with the team I was part of xx

Spongebobette · 05/02/2018 15:15

You are definitely an outlier, in all sorts of ways, Natasha!

dickiedavisthunderthighs · 05/02/2018 18:13

The veneer of success is further rubbing off our favourite aloe peddlers. It would appear that Yawnbot's other half has very quietly gone and got himself a J.O.B.

WellThatsATurnipForTheBooks · 05/02/2018 18:29

oooh what's he doing? Hopefully not any health or wellbeing industry where he can push the dreaded aloe

PancakeInMaBelly · 05/02/2018 18:43

I’ve nevet seen anyone leave a MLM and be wished good luck by others!

Oh they are though
The move from the up/downline list back into the prospect list.

It's one of the activities/tasks. Send a friendly message to your ex bots to try to get them to reactivate. Phrase it as a friendly enquiry about what they're up to now and pounce on any hint of a complaint about their current venture

Spongebobette · 05/02/2018 18:44

So you are never really free of the tentacles 😱

dickiedavisthunderthighs · 05/02/2018 19:22

Turnip broadband/computer networking. Might explain why they're not off to Dallas as a family this year; someone's got to pay the mortgage.

ArbunneHun · 05/02/2018 20:10

When times are tough, I can be honest with my friends and family. I don’t care if they see me struggling because then they can offer love, compassion & advice.

Imagine never being able to let your guard down and talk about your money worries or any other cracks in the facade of your life.

It must be a living hell.

WellThatsATurnipForTheBooks · 05/02/2018 20:15

aaah yes DickieDavis so he is.

Interesting that the business seems to be owned by the husband of Yawn's bestie (despite the fact he is apparently also in the aloe business with his wife).

So we have 2 FL "power couples" who "work their business together" ...only they don't as the husbands quietly have J.O.B.s

It annoyed me to see a FL top bot banging on about how the opportunity will create a residual income for your future. That's quite clearly not true and it shouldn't be billed as something on offer!

Eddierussett · 05/02/2018 21:37

What does it mean when someone in FL is 'is sponsored into xxx country' and can now sponsor people there? Are there restrictions on where bots are allowed to recruit in the beginning? (Because that would further suggest that bots really aren't entrepreneurs and business owners)

Toobusytowee · 05/02/2018 21:55

I’m afraid I have to disagree with Tasha. MLMs can never be made to be morally acceptable. They certainly cannot be morally acceptable in their present form. People can only make money in MLM if they have a team under them and most (if not all) end up losing money. Products are essentially unsalable because if the massive markup in price, etc etc.

Please do not be fooled into thinking MLM can be ok under some circumstances. It can’t.
