Thread 34 may be no more;
Thread 35 is quite alive.

Let's make sure it stays that way.

This thread is here to expose the garageful of lies pedalled by multi level marketing (network marketing) schemes, i.e outrageous health claims, unlimited wealth and residual earnings, to name but a few.

U OK FLP HUN?

I was wondering about the ‘giving away’ of the plus one - I don’t remember that last year? Is it because so few qualified, so big leaders are using it as a consolation prize/to keep downlines engaged?

It’s all looking rather desperate.

acatcalledjohn · 30/01/2018 22:45

Sounds like Herbalife are setting themselves up for another almighty bollocking and matching fine, after they got one from the FDA a few years ago for false claims.

I for one would pop some corn to see that happen again.

rayofhope2 · 30/01/2018 22:59

Gaz (Geordie shore) has now started promoting Herbalife on his snapchat. I saw that coming a mile away........

Tupperwarelid · 31/01/2018 07:35

When my ex fl bot went on a couple of these trips she always took a team member. Her husband stayed at home and looked after the children. All part of the Love bombing, look where you could be next year if you work hard enough syndrome

Mielabel · 31/01/2018 17:58

I feel like I'm missing something obvious, but why would top MLM bots be now into business networking groups? One top FLP bot has even changed where she works on Facebook to be as a leader of a networking group rather than her MLM business page (which has disappeared).

I just think there may be more to it than simply networking for extra recruits in this climate. If I was in her position I would see the signs and be thinking of doing something new. Could it be a career change on the horizon? I'm not sure how these networking franchises work.

cozietoesie · 31/01/2018 18:19

As always. Follow the money. Smile

BecomingAdultly · 31/01/2018 18:29

Anyone know the deal with scentsy(?)

An old school friend (we weren't particularly close after age 13) has been doing Scentsy for the past few months. She's recently been on the training day as she's post the pen and notebook with a bunch of motivational quotes.

On one hand i'm really happy for her as she had her LO at 17 and has been a single mother since. She seems genuinely more happy and confidence on social media. But I know she doesn't have any money, I know the others in her social group who have all jumped on the bandwagon also have no money either. I just really want to tell her it's a scam and that she's wasting her money on all the give aways/posting pictures constantly of the products.

What shall I do or should I just stay out of it?

BSintolerant · 31/01/2018 18:35

How many right-thinking, intelligent people would join networking groups / franchises run by people involved in MLM schemes? I certainly wouldn't! All these mlm shills can offer in terms of business advice and training is that "It's a monkey see monkey do business!" or a "Come to my house and pose for photos with my oversized cheque! Fake it 'til you make it!"

Bugger that! Wouldn't you rather be mentored by someone who is experienced at running a real business, who wouldn't dream of being referred to as a mumpreneur, bossbabe, girlpreneur, manpreneur, or a bunch of networking ninniesmummies?

WellThatsATurnipForTheBooks · 31/01/2018 18:58

You can read some of these bots like a book and see exactly what their next move will be.

One of Yawnbot's downline is now the area facilitator for Networking Mummies in her region. I knew it as soon as she started asking on fb if anyone knew of any local business owners.

Interestingly her post was a tumbleweed moment as nobody replied to it - I think people are reluctant to reply to bot's posts sometimes because they've sussed there's usually an ulterior motive.

PancakeInMaBelly · 31/01/2018 19:08

I think the move to running networking franchises is pretty natural as the bits are repeatedly told that they're getting valuable business "training" and gaining skikz...
So the more delusional bots actually think they've learnt things that real businessnesses will want to learn from them.

They think that network marketing is transferable to business networking. It's not
They think that manipulating downloads = business mentorship.

They're in so deep that they really believe that they have experience in the business world and will be utterly convinced that all of their local sole traders NEED to pay them to join their "networking & support" program

It's really sad & pathetic

Mielabel · 31/01/2018 19:14

Pancake, I'm inclined to agree with you.

In fact one of the things I was told when I joined FLP as a very naive student years ago (who had never heard of MLM) was that 'even if you don't decide to sell the products you'll get amazing business training from a Gold Investors in People company which will help you set up any business, for just £200"!

I thought it sounded awesome and joined, made hardly anything, got serious anxiety from it all, thought it was my fault for not working hard enough and nearly sent my genuine career path down the drain because I was chasing the MLM dream instead, thinking it would be better financially once i could get it going.

I've come across many previous FLP managers who do seem to genuinely think they now qualify as business coaches, life coaches, career coaches, business mentors and international businesswomen because of their experience in MLM, and zero experience in any other business. But they'd never believe you if you told them there was a difference.

PancakeInMaBelly · 31/01/2018 19:18

We have a family business (small but brings in a steady profit of over 20k per year AFTER expenses) and the way you run a business is to behave the exact opposite of a bit IMO.

PancakeInMaBelly · 31/01/2018 19:19

Bit/bot

ArbunneHun · 31/01/2018 20:10

The Investors In People award refers to corporate head office - no relation at all to the ‘training’ you get as an ‘FBO’. That often seems to consist of emotional manipulation by your up line and trainings that are simply top bots repeating their rags to riches story in order to keep you believing/buying/recruiting...

Spongebobette · 31/01/2018 20:23

Dear Forever Living FBO

You are not a business owner
You are a rep and only paid on what you sell and how many others you recruit

You are not a business woman
You are a rep

You are not a trainer
You pass on from your upline to your downline a hotchpotch of tricks, mainly ‘copy this system’

You are not a mentor
Mentors do not make profit from mentees. You love bomb, manipulate, cajole and bully your downline so that they add to your income.

You have no transferable skills

People in real business find you ridiculous

Rarerabbit · 31/01/2018 20:26

When I don't think it can sink lower. Just seen the live feed from the doorstep cash giveaway. Felt very scripted tho as I would be slightly more excited winning five hundred notes.

Spongebobette

You’ve hit the nail on the head with that FBO description...

Ha ha!

dadandmum · 31/01/2018 21:56

It does seem that some one who seems to be successful has had in building her own network has then had to trample into someone else's more successful and useful business and franchise. Have you see the photo, it is the best bit.

Eddierussett · 31/01/2018 22:29

I was looking at a bot the other day when was transitioning into advising outside the mlm world and wondering how much use advice like 'showcase the real you', or 'the products sell themselves' would be to a real business. It is a bit worrying to think that an inexperienced business owner with a good product might actually attempt to follow mlm advice.

PancakeInMaBelly · 31/01/2018 22:34

"It is a bit worrying to think that an inexperienced business owner with a good product might actually attempt to follow mlm advice. "

I don't think they do, it's mostly bits trying to poach other bits and all selling to each other so real business owners won't stay long.....
A bit like "pamper evenings", you don't get many real health and beauty professionals signing up to them more than once do you? It's all tragic mlm stands and a few hobby jobbers.

PancakeInMaBelly · 31/01/2018 22:35

Bits = bots. Silly phone

Spongebobette · 31/01/2018 22:38

Some events are so MLM heavy that it must be like a feeding frenzy as they all try to convince each other that their MLM is the best

Spongebobette · 31/01/2018 22:40

Lol and Pamper Evenings should be renamed as

‘ Bot buys cheapest Prosecco they can find and uses up products they have had to buy themselves in the hope of getting a few email addresses or at least to sell a few lip balms’ evenings

Spongebobette · 31/01/2018 22:45

It absolutely boils my piss to see a top bot posting about mentoring a new recruit and putting a plan in place so she can earn 5k a month

How much sodding Aloe Vera sludge will she have to shift to earn that?
