I have looked up the guy that stokeflatbot has mentioned, and he sounds exactly the same as stokeflatbot. Full of hot air. I doubt stokeflatbot has figured this out though.

Well done, acat. Smile

I was only a small part in a large uprising.

Thanks to TV for kickstarting this one!

Can I join? I've got two good friends who have both recently become seemingly fucking insane.

Ones in the States and is Arbonne mad. The other in Oz and appears to have been completely brainwashed by herbal life.

Are these both dodgy mlms? I'm assuming they are from the very odd crap my friends are posting. My Arbonne friend (who I've know for over 20 years) took to sending me messages about how her autistic child meant she couldn't work so she was struggling to put food on the table so could I please join up to help her family eat. I was Shock. Then she started banging on about how become a mum had seemingly been hard on my body and looks and she wanted to help me. I've distanced myself from her but as she'd been a good friend it's incredibly sad.

The one in Oz is the sweetest girl and it's awful to watch her losing all of her friends over this. Sad

YouOKHun · 25/07/2017 12:05

Yes anotherday both pyramid schemes and both awful. Have a look on MLMbotwatch, There's an article about what to do while someone you care about is under the influence of these cults. Have a look at the film Betting on Zero for a picture of Herbalife. There are lots of stories on the Timeless Vie blog about these crooks and others.

cozietoesie · 25/07/2017 12:29

Let me also re-link to John Oliver's piece on MLMs, anotherday. That may bring you some laughs amidst the negative feelings.

She's been well and truly brainwashed. I'm sorry. All you can do is keep your distance for now and be there for her when she gets out.

Does anyone know anything about some mysterious Australian cleanse thing? One of my friends has just done a 30-day cleanse complete with two dress-sizes dropped and copious references to 'mummy tummy' (spew). This is deffo leading up to her recruiting, and I've seen her post things about how pensions are unreliable, so we should be making extra income instead.
I'm watching the script unfold, and it's kind of fascinating, kind of awful because a) I really like her and b) she's a bloody medical professional - who probably knows something about 'cleanses'.

cozietoesie · 25/07/2017 13:27

Best have a read of Botwatch or Timeless Vie, Callamia. (They're linked anyway.) Botwatch in particular has some good pieces on what to do if a friend etc is inculcated. (If she's a medical professional, she's a 'prize catch' because she'd be able to recruit from clients who might take her word for the 'benefits'. )

Here's the link to botwatch anyway. Just scroll down a little bit until you come to the Table of Contents. You'll see the links there.

Lots of luck. Smile

cozietoesie · 25/07/2017 13:30

Sorry. That should be the 'CONTENTS PAGE'. Blush

acatcalledjohn · 25/07/2017 13:40

Does anyone know anything about some mysterious Australian cleanse thing?

Could it be Isagenix at AU$ 490 (!!!) for a 30 day cleanse?

she's a bloody medical professional - who probably knows something about 'cleanses'.

Clearly she doesn't if she believes in the myth of detoxing/cleansing.

EnormousDormouse · 25/07/2017 13:45

Long time lurker here- this may be old news but was just posted by an Arbonne bot of my aquaintance.
I thought HuffPost was a reasonable journalistic site but obviously not!

cozietoesie · 25/07/2017 13:47

There's not a one of us who couldn't be 'caught', acat, if we were approached in the right way, at the right time and by the right person.

Some of us would, admittedly, be more difficult to recruit than others. (I like to think that it would be impossible with some people but who knows?) This really is a case of 'forewarned is forearmed'.

Smile
cozietoesie · 25/07/2017 13:49

I'd contact Huffpost, Enormous. Smile

acatcalledjohn · 25/07/2017 13:51

I never said people couldn't be caught. I only pointed out that this person clearly doesn't know (or chooses to ignore what she does know) much about cleanses, despite her medical training.

Interesting article on Isagenix from the Sydney Morning Herald

cozietoesie · 25/07/2017 13:53

She's likely been caught in some way. Sadly, her 'position' will give her a spurious authority with the more vulnerable.

Callamia · 25/07/2017 14:04

It looks like Isagenix. The cryptic posts about a cleanse, the increased energy. And how much? I'd want to do more than lose some weight for that much money. I'm going to see what happens next.

cozietoesie · 25/07/2017 14:18

Always follow the money. Where does she think it comes from? Smile

lasagnefortea · 25/07/2017 15:15

I requested more info from StoleFlatBot about his new opportunity but he never PMed me. I mustn't be enough of a gullible Hun for him!

acatcalledjohn · 25/07/2017 15:30
