@Domesticgoddesshaha I did my wagering on BlackJack. I used the strategy on Odds Monkey which basically tells you what to do on each hand. It's not guaranteed every hand will be a winner, but the grid is matmatucally the most likely outcome if you follow it. I won way more hands than I lost so ended up in profit doing the wagering.

Had a bit of a stress earlier, was using my free £5 William hill bet on horse race, about half an hour before it started I noticed I could trade out for 3 pound profit, I did so, thinking I can re lay as the odds had dropped loads and calculated showed my free £5 bet would have had a profit of £6. Did the new lay bet and realised just after race started that I'd fucked up. Two horses had very similar names and it was a totally different horse I'd laid against. Thought fuck it and cashed out the lay again for 20p loss thinking worse case scenario I don't make anything in a fee bet, horse I'd backed won so it worked out good.

Second cock up, trying to place my free in play bet I should have received from last nights qualifying bet at Ladbroke and it wasn't showing, it kept trying to take stake from my cash balance. Contacted live chat and was told that yesterday's bet wasn't at high enough odds so I didn't qualify for free one. Not a problem really as odds were so low I'd have made a pound, or so high I'd have needs hundreds in liability, plus the qualifying bet gave me a profit. Whilst clicking on 'my account' to see if I could find the free bet, I had a pop up saying I'd been credited 5 spins with no wagering req, played the spins and won £15 so was happy :)

Also got £13 profit from betfair free spins, with Profits from paddy power 2ups I've made about £40 profit today, and a free bet from paddy power bet £25 get free £5 bet to come on Friday. Really pleased as I've only spent 30 mins on MB today.

I've made almost £300 for May alone, looking at spread sheet not many are from new signups but from promos for existing customers and meeting requirements for the weekly free bets on sky bet, coral etc. Starting to know which bookies have which offers and on which days without searching for hours so am getting more efficient.

There's a big post on placing risk-free bets in the technical thread.

Can someone explain the Oddsmonkey racing marcher to me? I see there's a lot of offers for one particular race, but I don't understand the data.

The blue boxes show all the bookies that have a particular offer on a race. The value is the biggest bet you can make within the offer.

If you click on a blue box, the offer for that bookie pops up. The red star writing tells you what the offer is. The calculator tells you which horses are currently the closest odds in that race, for you to make qualifying bets on.

MaidOfStars · 17/05/2017 10:09

Of the big bookies today, the most obvious offers are:

Betfred/Totesport - free bet if your horse comes second, regardless of who wins. Max £10.

Paddy Power is a little stricter (but can get up to £25 free bet). Your horse has to finish second but the winner must be the starting post favourite, which might not be the favourite when you place your bet.

Coral is also offering bigger free bet opportunities but stricter conditions - your horse needs to come second but within a length of the winner (any winner, no SP odds conditions).

WH are offering 15% stake as a free bet if your horse wins by more than two lengths. I wouldn't bother with this one. I've been trying it for a few days (it's a permanent offer, as far as I can see), and it's not come in yet.

Betstars are offerng a free bet if your horse falls. I refuse to bet on this.

MaidOfStars · 17/05/2017 10:11

Oh, and Ladbrokes will be offering extra places on York races today. This means they pay out "each way" bets on a greater number of places. As I haven't started "each way" betting yet, I'm not about to learn today.

My money is going into Betfred. Easy offer.

HeyRoly · 17/05/2017 10:16

I won't bet on horses falling either.

Sky Bet are paying up to six places on E/W bets as well. Certain races, especially at York, IIRC.

MaidOfStars · 17/05/2017 10:24

Oh hang on, Betfred are only offering this on the 14:20.

titchy · 17/05/2017 10:38

Skybets are also paying 6 places instead of 4 on York 14.20 (1/5 for a place) - does anyone know how on earth to lay that one? Confused

titchy · 17/05/2017 10:39

Blush cross posts! Think I'll leave the each way ones for now....

titchy · 17/05/2017 11:21

Ooh 10bet have a free £10 if you bet £20 at York.

MaidOfStars · 17/05/2017 11:25

188bet are running a "free bet if 2nd" too.

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/05/2017 12:07

This is my qualifying bet with bet Fred, have I done it right?.

MaidOfStars · 17/05/2017 13:06

At 2.56, you should have layed £9.48.

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/05/2017 13:09

I was on odds monkey & the odds they stated didn't match when I went on Betfair.

How much will I lose?.

HeyRoly · 17/05/2017 13:14

If the odds are different to the Oddmatcher, which happens a lot, you just have to recalculate by changing the odds.

titchy · 17/05/2017 13:23

On the 2nd to SP favourite ones - what happens if YOUR horse ends up being the favourite - that;s what puts me off those ones...

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/05/2017 13:23

I clicked on the odds monkey calculator but nothing happened.

What's my loss?

HeyRoly · 17/05/2017 13:40

What do you mean nothing happened?

If the lay odds have changed from 1.86 (as in this screenshot) to, for example, 1.90, all you need to do is delete 1.86 and type in 1.90. Then it recalculates the lay stake for you.

I'd really recommend rewatching the Oddsmonkey tutorial videos, because if you're getting confused with the basics you're going to get into a right pickle and lose money unnecessarily.

Also, you can use this to calculate how much you've lose. You've laid too much, so will be worse off if the back bet wins.

Fluffy
-£2.25 if you win at the bookies.
-£0.22 if you win at the exchange.

MaidOfStars · 17/05/2017 13:47

Fluffy
What you've done is called an "overlay" - you've layed too much of a stake to balance the loss with the bookie.

Overlaying has its place in matched betting - read the OM tutorial about it. But I'm not planning on underlaying/overlaying except accidentally (as you did).

anon1987 · 17/05/2017 13:52

Can some explain this matched betting please. Preferably in the most simple earns possible Confused
