Good question, Dora, what was that whole DBDMovement? It reminds of a load of really constipated people struggling to have a movement, as my mum would call it!

Moose23 · 26/05/2017 20:36

I often see my "favourite" bots showing selfies with new recruits who they've brainwashed into buying a business in a box / convinced that they've found a path to flexible working and a flash lifestyle.

Would it ever work to message these poor dears before they are too far in, outline our concern and send them a link to bot watch?

Slugsandcabbages · 26/05/2017 21:13

I've just seen other posts saying similar, but can't believe one of my bots has posted and used the Manchester Arena tragedy to promote how good it is to work for an MLM. Aaarrgghhhhh

Anyone watching Gogglebox?

The family with 2 grown-up sons and lots of big dogs were just on and the mum mentioned that she'd been to a candle party (Scentsy?) and bought a car air-freshener for £12 ( as it was "cheaper than a candle") - the dad's reaction was sweary and incredulous!

Sounds like she was in that awkward situation of buying something because you feel guilt-bound.

Spongebobette · 27/05/2017 16:18

Just saw this post from a top shill bot; 5 hour round trip to another sucker who thinks she's going to be a six figure earner by posting stuff on social media and pretending she's a huge success

"Great day spent with xxxx who is working with me in order to build a six figure income within her health & wellbeing business

Today we have come up with some great networking strategies, we have fine tuned her social media presence & we've looked at how to ooose sassy confidence & to be a total boss babe

Totally worth the 5 hour round trip ... I work smart with my time - meeting this little fire cracker was certainly smart !! "

cozietoesie · 27/05/2017 16:32

She didn't really say 'ooose' did she? Not really? Shock

Spongebobette · 27/05/2017 18:54

Yes

Sigh

cozietoesie · 27/05/2017 19:05

Gosh.

BSintolerant · 27/05/2017 20:52

Are you in ore of her ooosing? Grin

A five hour round trip? So much for a laptop lifestyle. Merchants of Deception mentions very long journeys that shills made to their victims. It's another way of making them feel guilty if they see the light and think about quitting. "But hun! I drove for hours to meet you and this is how you treat me. I'm ooosing sadness."

cozietoesie · 27/05/2017 21:34

Not so much in ore as thinking that even if she'd spelled it half-way correctly, it's a very odd word to choose. It has .........slimy connotations. Makes you think of 'exudate'.

I can think of any number of better words to use. Smile

cozietoesie · 27/05/2017 21:47

BS

Might the 5 hours thing also be useful to 'impress' those reading the post in a 'See how committed X is!' sort of way?

BSintolerant · 27/05/2017 22:17

Cozie Exudate would be a good name for a new MLM. I like that word: it's right up there with "ordure". Grin

The five hours thing may impress some, but others will view it as five hours of precious life which has gone forever.

It's similar to bots who kindly offer to take victims to business presentations. Imagine being stuck in a botmobile being indoctrinated into some cult or other. Captive audience ...

BSintolerant · 27/05/2017 22:22

I wasn't being facetious talking about five hours of precious time 'gone forever'. It could be similar to something going west though. 😉

cozietoesie · 27/05/2017 22:25

Put it this way. If I thought someone was likely to 'ooose' over me, I'd be checking there was plenty of hot water and a handy scraper! Grin

BSintolerant · 27/05/2017 22:32

I'd be inclined to use dettol and wire wool! Grin

Spongebobette · 27/05/2017 23:21

Quick question; this occurred to me when a shill bot said she's determined not to borrow, but to pay in cash for house improvements....

I was wondering how 'business owners' manage to get a mortgage if their only income is through an MLM. I know that mortgage lenders are very careful to check income and require all sorts of proof. So how would a building society or other lender view someone wanting to borrow money based on an MLM business?

cozietoesie · 27/05/2017 23:54

Well. Once they'd stopped laughing....................

BSintolerant · 28/05/2017 00:00

Good question Sponge. Maybe bots think they don't need a mortgage because they'll be buying their own castles with all the hard cash their so-called mlm businesses have created.

cozietoesie · 28/05/2017 00:08

It would have to be cash, wouldn't it? Wink

BSintolerant · 28/05/2017 00:15

It would, Cozie, and cash purchases of property have tax implications in some countries. Then there's good old money laundering to consider... Having lots of cash isn't likely to be an issue for most mlm bots such matters are theoretical.

As for the shill bots - will a photo of a big plastic cheque suffice as proof of income? Grin

cozietoesie · 28/05/2017 00:35

Maybe they 'feel' successful because they have jars of fivers - which have likely come from people who could ill afford the cash. Perhaps having those notes in their hands makes them feel good? Even able to forget all the normal bills that are racking up inexorably against the plastic. (Or the (dwindling) bank account.)

darceybussell · 28/05/2017 07:48

I guess if you're a shill bot and you have two years of accounts showing a decent profit the bank won't necessarily care what industry you're in. It's pretty high risk though - I think MLM has definitely peaked in the U.K. so I'm not sure what they'll all do when their income drops and they've got big mortgages.

In other news I now have a bot work colleague - FFS - hoping it's going to be short lived.

Spongebobette · 28/05/2017 12:27

Ooh which flavour of bot, Darcey?

Spongebobette · 28/05/2017 12:37

Btw 'I have overcome bullying' bot said hi to us (I assume) calling us 'jeslous women' and 'bitches'

We are still here. We are not going away. We will continue to point out the deceits and the false promises your 'business model' makes.
