My bot has hit the news. Bit of a play on words about their jobs though Hmm

YouOKHun · 15/05/2017 21:37

I'm afraid I'm a bad tempered old trout so I called a meeting with the HT and gave him a lecture on the pyramid biz model, it's terrible social, psychological and financial outcomes, lectured him on the FTC/Herbalife debacle and the terrible PR for the school, and of course, the data protection angle which is a hotspot for HTs. Turns out that when I got vocal the HT and most staff were horrified and lots of parents didn't want this sort of thing in the school either, they just weren't aware up until then. I bet most of the staff don't realise what's behind the overpriced products. I'm a parent so I guess it's easier for me as they're not colleagues and those involved don't teach my DC. It's absolutely appalling she's moonlighting in the staff room!

YouOKHun · 15/05/2017 21:38

*its terrible social ... outcomes Blush stray apostrophe in front of a teacher ...

cozietoesie · 15/05/2017 21:45

Are the Trades Unions aware of these MLM issues and how they might affect their members? And membership. Wink

SSDGM · 16/05/2017 00:43

An American Thrive bot is attempting to flog patches on the local selling page for treatment for fybromyalgia and tiredness. She already took one post down this morning because she got horrifically trolled. I've had a look and it's similar to the Valentus pyramid inverted funnel in that you have to sign up to monthly shipments. Thankfully pointing out what she wants to do has put a few people off buying from her and a couple more have asked why she needs to do everything by PM.

cozietoesie · 16/05/2017 00:47

Is she making any health claims?

SSDGM · 16/05/2017 00:49

Also: the Safegirl post - "your husband called, he said you can buy all you want"

Husband said I could buy all I want = need permission to spend your own money = absolutely NOT empowering women. I want to start smashing up the Patriarchy just looking at it.

SSDGM · 16/05/2017 00:56

This is what she has posted and from what I can see from comments she's linking the people asking for info to a video but I've not seen it.
She is responding to those who are asking if it will help Fibro with "I'll send you info, Hun :)" pure script stuff.

Neal's Yard bot on community Facebook group posted this:
"It's Organic Beauty Week!

When you #lookforthelogo and see that it's got the Soil Association certification, you can trust that the product contains the safest, purest ingredients. Great for your skin, great for your long term health and great for the environment!

It's why I fell in love with Neal's Yard Remedies products.
I can totally trust the independent certification and the transparency of labelling.

I loved the products so much, I bought my own part of the business!
I've been an Independent Consultant for Neal's Yard Remedies Organic for 2 years now. It's been a life changing experience on so many levels.

Want to join me?
Right now, you can buy your organic Business in a Bag for just £45.

OR, DM me for more info and an information pack."

WIBU to reply saying that if the products are so great why is her post all about recruiting and not selling? Sign of a pyramid scheme in my opinion.

TheCatsWhiskers · 16/05/2017 08:58

On holiday and just seen a massive billboard advertising FL and a contact number to snare new recruits.

It made me feel quite angry! I really hate this company.

SSDGM · 16/05/2017 11:16

Response from one of the people the Thrive rep contacted! I think that's a medical claim, don't you? 🙄

WeldMeDaphne · 16/05/2017 16:05

A family member seems to have become an isagenix bot. I'm a bit saddened, as she's smart, and seems to have a lot going for her, but she's not long given up work to be a sahm. It just seems to be an awful lot of bollocks. What the heck is it actually even selling?

cozietoesie · 16/05/2017 16:18

Botwatch have done a recent piece on them, Weld.

cutting through

It might do no harm for you to read some of the other stuff on Botwatch as well. Especially if she's just joined that firm. Here is the general link.

botwatchblog

(If you scroll down past the first piece - or better still read it through Wink - you should come to the 'Contents Page' with all the links.

TFPsa · 16/05/2017 16:41

I've also noticed 'isagenix' launching in the UK. Looks like bog standard pyramid nonsense to me.

cozietoesie · 16/05/2017 16:58

For shame, TFP. Wink They're new to the UK and all. Grin

DomesticAnarchist · 16/05/2017 18:27

Hi, sorry, I'm out of the loop and haven't caught up on the thread for a few days, but I need help.

My NuSkin bot is ready for me to share some info about the badness of mlm with her.

Can anyone link me to anything NuSkin specific, please? I'm about to scour BotWatchBlog for the income thingy.

Thanks!

cozietoesie · 16/05/2017 18:35

I assume you've found Botwatch's piece by now. Timeless Vie also have a guest piece on them if I recall?

DomesticAnarchist · 16/05/2017 18:37

Not yet @cozietoesie, just found the income statement from 2011. Not sure it's relevant/recent enough. She'll be able to explain it away - and also suggests she's already beating the odds to get where she is.

cozietoesie · 16/05/2017 18:57

Here's that guest piece from Timeless Vie.

commission

Back later.

DomesticAnarchist · 16/05/2017 19:07

Thanks @cozietoesie, I've shared that with her.

I'm not sure she's ready to admit defeat yet, but that she's ready to hear why I'm not a fan (to put it mildly) is a start. I'm treading very carefully...

cozietoesie · 16/05/2017 19:12

If I were you, I'd read some of the Botwatch pieces real carefully - they're linked under the Contents Table. I'm no expert but 'taking her on' full broadside might not be the best thing for your relationship to survive and prosper.

Ultimately, it's what works for you and her - but some of the Botwatch stuff is very thought provoking.

DomesticAnarchist · 16/05/2017 19:21

Absolutely, I agree.

I'm not 'taking her on' at all. We were having a chat and she asked me to read up about the company as she thinks I don't know anything about it. I said I had, which is what's made me worry more about her involvement in it.

I've been very very careful to make sure she understands that my issues with her "business" are because I'm concerned she's being exploited by that industry.

So she asked me what I'd read to come to this conclusion. And I said something along the lines of how I'd read a lot, and I'd like nothing more than to share it with her when the time is right, but I don't want to upset her and lose a friendship over this. So I'm just as happy to go on and not mention the whole thing.

But she asked for something. So I've shared the TV commission breakdown post with the caveat of "look how well you're doing when the odds are set so heavily against you".

She's so deeply emotionally invested in it, and in the Law Of Attraction bollocks that puts the faults on her. Like I said, I'm trying to be careful.

She's cut me off before, she won't hesitate to do it again if she doesn't want to see/hear it. But I'm stubborn!

cozietoesie · 16/05/2017 19:26

You may need that strength to get your friend back. If she's deep into it, 'she' may have been driven into a very small space in the Inculcated One's mind.

Good luck, anyway. Smile
