Thanks, cazzy. Smile

BethanyBarleywater · 11/05/2017 20:09

That live is almost unwatchable. She's come a long way from Yazoo, tin foil and a crap knife set in a box for £165 a month.

MyCatsHateMLMtoo · 11/05/2017 21:39

OMG! So, I have waited patiently for a long time for a bot of my own, and today I found her....a teacher at my school. To say I am shocked is an understatement. She is promoting Arbonne. Last week a couple of boxes of Arbonne product were left in the staffroom but I didn't think much of it. Today I was chatting with a colleague and she mentioned that 'X' was giving her some sort of facemask to try. Alarm bells rang for me and I asked what it was (with a sinking heart). My colleague confirmed it was Arbonne and asked if I had been asked by 'X' to an evening do. She hasn't mentioned it to me....yet. Colleague said she would probably feel obliged to buy this product but would only do it once. I think that, once she sees the price, she might think again though.
I'm just back from the pub and decided to look at 'X's fb page and she has posted the predictable over-made-up face, airbrushed to death selfie, with the following message...

"One month in and in qualification for the first level of management with your amazing sponsor xxxxxxxxx! 🙌🏻💚💗💕 can't wait to celebrate with you both at the end of May! #teamxxxxx — feeling proud."

Fuck Sad.

I don't recognise this version of 'X', either the picture nor the tone of the message, I'm baffled, actually why a qualified teacher would debase herself like this. Come back 'X'!!!

I don't know much about Arbonne, any ex-bots here can educate me?

Tupperwarelid · 11/05/2017 21:51

Salon Bot lives on fb - how to speak for at least 10 minutes but actually say nothing at all...

cozietoesie · 11/05/2017 22:07

Botwatchblog have a section on them, MyCats. (In the 'Directory of MLM Information' if I recall?)

MyCatsHateMLMtoo · 11/05/2017 22:12

I've had a look, cozie. It's a disturbing account of the lengths a particular Arbonne bot went to in order to exploit the vulnerable Angry.

cozietoesie · 11/05/2017 22:30

The name sounds sort of .....pretty doesn't it? It's just an MLM, though.

ArbunneHun · 11/05/2017 22:56

An Arbonne recruitment pitch from a friend was what opened my eyes to the warped world of MLMs. Pretty sure she lost money & she's out of it now, but she was a prime target: just had a baby, employer wouldn't consider flexible/part time working, childcare costs ridiculous... Anyway. All mention of Arbonne has now ceased.

cozietoesie · 11/05/2017 23:15

Thank Goodness she's likely out, eh? Link her here if she'd like to talk about it. Smile (Although she may not wish to - and you might rather not say anything about MLMs.)

Lallypopstick · 12/05/2017 06:02

MyCats that would annoy me so much at work. I think I'd have to complain to the head, having the pressure of a potential sales pitch during my well-deserved lunch break would drive me mad!

MyCatsHateMLMtoo · 12/05/2017 07:33

I have found out that her upline is another teacher (from a different borough). Arbonne is spreading through the teaching profession like a rash Shock. I know that teaching is very stressful and getting more so, but being involved in such a scheme as this (MLM) as a way to make money? Ain't ever gonna happen.

Spongebobette · 12/05/2017 08:44

A FB friend has suddenly become a 'Weleda Wellbeing Advisor'

Is this MLM?

Eyerolling · 12/05/2017 09:56

My bot seems to have distanced herself somewhat from the Forever name, she still refers to her brilliant career as 'network marketing' but she's definitely not throwing the Forever name around like she used to.

Had to smile, she commented on her Travel blog Facebook page that she will still be racking up the money in the bank whilst travelling the world with her family, yet another comment was how she was looking forward to living frugally (not that she HAD to) she added.

Bonkers.

cozietoesie · 12/05/2017 11:30

I'd say not, Sponge. (Although I am below par today so may not be seeing entirely straight. Grin) it looks like direct selling still - with the caveat that you should always keep your eyes open for .....developments.Wink

Spongebobette · 12/05/2017 11:32

She's totally pimping out her children.

cozietoesie · 12/05/2017 11:41

One of the problems with direct selling is that you are still potentially making an income from the selling and - if you are very .......motivated - you might go quite far to do that. I wouldn't wish to be in that game - always waiting for the opportunity to eg sell to friends and family - even if there were no MLM activity in the firm. Just not the way I operate.

fitgirl26 · 12/05/2017 14:13

I was hugely saddened a while ago when someone I really looked up to in the fitness industry became a paid up Arbonne shill Bot and gave up her career in fitness to pursue it full time. She seems to be doing very well (she's now in Aus) but could be "faking it until she makes it".

cozietoesie · 12/05/2017 14:21

She might well be. On the other hand, she might have turned out - unusually- to be really 'successful' at it and now be paying the bills with other people's pain.

Either way..........

Toobusytowee · 12/05/2017 14:28

Fitgirl, you are probably right. Most bots make bold claims about how they love their biz and they are doing well, faking it a bit. And then they see it for what it is and they quietly leave. The people that saw those messages are left thinking it is legitimate and then might become a victim themselves one day.

I wonder if people who leave should have some sort of moral duty to go back and amend their posts about MLM and make it known than MLM is not all it is cracked up to be.

Although at the same time, I appreciate how upset, vulnerable and silly they might be feeling after 'failing' in their hyped up scheme.

fitgirl26 · 12/05/2017 15:33

I suspect she is probably quite successful - she had a massive following due to her career as an International Trainer for Les Mills and having actually been trained by her a few times I know she's a very forthright, larger than life character. It's a bit sad to see her talking in Bot Speak and sharing David Avocado Wolfe articles!

cozietoesie · 12/05/2017 15:39

People who potentially have large and/ or more easily manipulable followers - eg those in the legal, medical and fitness communities - are well worth the MLM spending more time on, right enough. They were likely chortling mightily when she signed up.

It's very sad, though. Imagine how all the people under her are doing? Sad (Or rather, their plastic.)

BSintolerant · 12/05/2017 17:26

Why is David Wolfe's middle name Avocado? Did his parents have a moment of madness when they registered his birth?

cozietoesie · 12/05/2017 18:00

I have a feeling that the "Avocado" is just a .........courtesy name/nickname and that he's really just David Wolfe.

BSintolerant · 12/05/2017 18:44

Courtesy? There's nothing courteous about being named after something green and edible. I wonder how many bots will call their kids Aloe Vera, or Snot? Grin

fitgirl26 · 12/05/2017 18:53

I really should have posted David "Avocado" Wolfe 😀
On another note Ex-Valentus now Lean Java Bean Bot has been asked for a link to the trials behind its claim of being clinically proven. The predictable response? "I'll get back to you on that one hun".
