As the last thread is almost full, here is a nice fresh clean one.

In a nutshell, matched betting is a clever way of making ££££ from the bookies without ever having to gamble.

This is profit accumulator

This is odds monkey

Have read. TAKE YOUR TIME!

And enjoy the money Grin

Does anyone else get really annoyed when their back bet wins? Now means I have £30 stuck in William Hill and my Betfair pot is smaller so can't cover a high liability - still made £4.08 on a £5 free bet so can't complain I suppose.....

TheSleeperandTheSpindle · 03/05/2017 14:52

Also does it look dodgy to take my william hill money out straight away? This is what a
real gambler would do right?

Dangerismymiddlename · 03/05/2017 14:53

Yes :) match betting is W L or D

MaidOfStars · 03/05/2017 14:58

I am mug betting it. Will lose a few more pennies but keeps WH happy.

(Assuming the mug bets lose, of course. Can be pushed to loss by picking long odds events).

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 03/05/2017 16:12

Just a heads up that every bookie you sign up with will show up on a credit report Blush

It appears that they all run a credit check when you sign up, and some again as well (for withdrawing?)

It doesn't seem to affect credit score, but will appear on the list of checks run on you.

bonfireheart · 03/05/2017 16:13

Has anyone worked through all the initial offers on PA? Am on number 3 of 66!

CalmItKermitt · 03/05/2017 16:26

66 sign up offers?!?!

Maybe I should have signed up to PA instead of Oddsmonkey!

SierraJensen · 03/05/2017 16:29

Apparently the credit checks are soft checks - done just for ID - and won't show up if a lender is looking at your file. I looked into this before starting as it concerned me.

domesticgoddesshaha · 03/05/2017 16:29

itsallgoingtobefine is that likely to affect future lending?
Eg will a mortgage provider run a mile if they think you are a compulsive gambler?

bonfireheart · 03/05/2017 16:32

Mortgage provider would see your bank statement which would show you depositing money into betting sites too.

calmitkermitt I had the trial versions for both PA and OM, but found PA didn't overwhelm me with too much info on their odds checker and calculator.

domesticgoddesshaha · 03/05/2017 16:39

bonfire not if you have another ac only for betting and don't tell them it exists.
calmit how many offers are on OM?

I'm planning to sign up tonight and wondering which to go for.

domesticgoddesshaha · 03/05/2017 16:44

What bank have people used to set up a new account for betting?
Was just about to sign up for first direct then spotted a £10 monthly fee if you don't deposit or have average balance of 1k.
Want to avoid hsbc and halifax as other banking is with them.

SierraJensen · 03/05/2017 16:47

bonfire that is why it's recommended you have a separate account. You could always close it before applying for a mortgage (assuming you've withdrawn all your winnings, of course!)

I'm trying to decide between Oddsmonkey and PA at the moment so am interested to hear everyone's opinions on them.

TessTube · 03/05/2017 17:00

I did the bet £20 on Stan James Monaco v Juventus and for a free £5 bet.

I prefer oddsmonkey - they've all got the same offers but it's a bit cheaper and I think the reload section and daily offers is easier to navigate.

I've just cancelled profit accumulator because we wouldn't need two I think.

bonfireheart · 03/05/2017 18:00

I'm just using my own account. I know it's not the done thing but once I've done to initial offers that's me done, find all the rest of it too confusing and don't have the patience or time for mug bets and the like. Won't be housing until another two years so all traces will have left bank statements by then :)

bonfireheart · 03/05/2017 18:06

Not much difference between PA and OM but I started with PA first and feel like I understand it's layout better. Plus I find the man's voice in the tutorials very calm, which helps me feel less stressed!

fairgame84 · 03/05/2017 18:21

I really need to speed up placing my bets. I'm too slow and the odds are sometimes changing on me. I think I'm over thinking it all. Hopefully I will get faster as I get used to it all.

HeyRoly · 03/05/2017 18:37

I logged into Sky Bet a little while ago to see if there were any offers. Not long afterwards I got a reload email for a £5 free bet if I place a £5 bet. So I'd recommend logging into Sky Bet, for anyone who has an account.

imnottoofussed · 03/05/2017 19:00

I got that too roly but didn't log in so possibly just sending them out randomly.

HeyRoly · 03/05/2017 19:01

Ah, maybe. It seemed like too much of a coincidence, that's all Smile

OverthinkingSpartacus · 03/05/2017 19:11

I think 188 is the one where you have to contact live chat after your qualifying bet is settled to claim it.

For the two up PP offer, yes you need to lay it at the start, but if your team goes two up at any point, you've won at the bookies, even if your team goes on to lose at the end, pp have paid you as a winner so if your team goes to 2-0 at say half time, paddy power out the winning money into your account, there's no need for the lay bet at that point, because you have your paddy power winning already.

cashing out the lay means you get some of your liability back, plus the winnings at the bookie that's already there, without the 2up offer you need the liability because full match needs to played to see winner, but with 2up promo and potential for winnings to be in bookies before halftime it makes sense to cash out the lay as the only benefit in keeping it active would be for your team to lose after being being 2 goals up and winning bet at both ends. OM say it's very rare for this to happen though so it's better to cash out if you can.

I had an email off betfair saying I've been credited with a free £5 into my games wallet to use on their new "exchange games" section, with a X1 wagering. Had a look about and decided would use it on The exchange blackjack. I figured that it's the opposite of playing blackjack in that I wanted to pick the losing hand and lay against hands winning, so used the blackjack strategy on odds monkey and reversed it. Played at £1 a time and after the £5 wagering was done I had £10 which went to real withdraw able money. Five mins for £10 quid profit and no risk at all to me.

Have signed up to smarkets and have £7 profit their offer so a total of £17 today.

OverthinkingSpartacus · 03/05/2017 19:14

Also.

I started with PA, then tried OM and much much prefer OM, it's cheaper, has more tools, their calculater has been spot on to the penny whereas PA was always out, only by 20p or so in most cases but was worried that a 20p error at the exchange could lose me hundreds Blush so always felt nervous using it, you also get a half hour one to one with OM which I may be taking up to ask about accas.

OverthinkingSpartacus · 03/05/2017 19:21

I also have sky bet promo.
Make sure to read t and c as there's minimum odds required and also a code that needs to be entered when placing qualifying bet.

HeyRoly · 03/05/2017 19:48

I didn't enter the code, I clicked through from my email and the offer got applied automatically. I did make sure to double check the minimum odds, though!

Placed both the qualifying and free bets on enhanced offers they had scrolling on the homepage banner. It just so happened that the lay odds were a good match. Figured I looked suitably "muggy" if I could show that my head was easily turned by special offers Grin

Spookle · 03/05/2017 20:06

Good move HeyRoly

I missed out on the Skybets offer as it told me I already had an account, I don't Sad. Possibly because the street number of my flat has several houses on the plot so I've realised I'm lucky it's only happened once so far.

I'm now sitting here praying that the Mon V Juv match is not a draw. Sorry if that buggers up any Mumsbetter's plans Grin
