As the last thread is almost full, here is a nice fresh clean one.

In a nutshell, matched betting is a clever way of making ££££ from the bookies without ever having to gamble.

This is profit accumulator

This is odds monkey

Have read. TAKE YOUR TIME!

And enjoy the money Grin

Neonrainbow sounds like we are at the same stage. I'm going to rewatch the video for the bet/lay tonight and try and do it.

Good luck Smile

neonrainbow · 23/04/2017 18:44

Thank you sandy hopefully we will both get the hang of this soon! Dh gets it but I always take a while to get my head around stuff like that.

TessTube · 23/04/2017 18:57

Blank - you can bet more than the qualifying amount as long as you make sure the calculator is correct - you are laying the bet you make so wether it's 5 or 10 it shouldn't be a problem.

Truckingalong · 23/04/2017 20:10

Well that went well. I could cry. I've just lost £10 on very very first try at this. I backed Liverpool to win this afternoon at Coral and I thought I layed a bet for Liverpool at Betfair. Liverpool lost, so I lost my £5 stake at Coral and clearly I did something wrong at Betfair, as I lost my £5 stake there too. What a total numpty 😐

HeyRoly · 23/04/2017 20:30

You shouldn't have had a stake at Betfair trucking. When you lay a bet at the exchange, you are acting as the bookie and someone else (another Betfair customer out there on the internet) lays the stake.

Are you sure you were on Betfair Exchange and not Betfair Sportsbook? Sportbook is - I think - the traditional "bookie" side of the business, so I'm wondering if you made a back bet on Sportsbook and not a lay bet on Exchange?

AmateurSwami · 23/04/2017 20:37

I'm about 8 days in, 11 sign ups and £93 up. Taking it slow but enjoying it!

Dec1314mummy · 23/04/2017 20:37

I've looked at doing this for a while and after a very expensive car bill have looked at it even more. I'm just too scared to start!

Truckingalong · 23/04/2017 21:00

Yep, just checked, that's exactly what I've done. Expensive lesson. I feel a right idiot. Such a rookie mistake.

AmateurSwami · 23/04/2017 21:24

Just missed an offer by not betting on odds high enough Angry

HeyRoly · 23/04/2017 21:25

Live and learn trucking. I've frequently found myself in Sportbook instead of Exchange, it's really easily done. I also messed up yesterday by misremembering my free bet balance at Betfred.

edengarden123 · 23/04/2017 21:32

Another question from me. I'm not very confident on the horse racing but with one of my free bets I backed a horse at slightly higher odds than my lay, but I'm kind of nervous that the bookies will void it or something.

The odds were low (under 5) so how likely is this to happen? Should I keep check on the bookies account before the race?

Verticalvenetianblinds · 23/04/2017 21:34

Remember the bookies see your bet, the exchange sees your lay, the 2 aren't see by the same business (unless you Dutch)

Dec1314mummy · 23/04/2017 21:38

How can I change from mobile view to full view in coral and also from fractions to decimals?
Sorry!

TheSleeperandTheSpindle · 23/04/2017 21:50

After using my 4 free bets I've made £15.79 today! Not sure if that's good or not but I'm happy I haven't lost anything.

Is it best to keep all of this money in the exchange so that I can cover higher liabilities or should I take some out to cover the next qualifying bet at the next bookies?

GardeningWithDynamite · 23/04/2017 21:57

@TheSleeperandTheSpindle - leave the money in the exchange unless you need it.

@Dec1314mummy - not sure about the mobile view, but in the desktop view in coral, there's fractional and decimal options right at the top of the page (top right)

Verticalvenetianblinds · 23/04/2017 21:58

If you can afford to, leave it at the exchange to build up a float. Also it'll take days to transfer to bank so will hold you up!

TessTube · 23/04/2017 21:59

I did that on my first 2 amateur, so annoying but I think it's a common error! Live and learn though.

TessTube · 23/04/2017 22:01

It's quite fiddly to get used to trucking!

Just keep ploughing on though you'll get than tenner back soon enough.

Maybe use smarkets I find it easier to navigate and they give you ten pounds back after your first ten pounds loss - that will get your tenner back in no time.

OverthinkingSpartacus · 23/04/2017 23:59

I've found an odds matching calculator online that shows all bets for all bookies. I've been checking it agains the free trial versions on odds monkey and PA and the data matches. There's also nations of sites that detail sign up free bets for various bookies.

Im just wondering if I use the free odds matcher and find my own sign up offers, is there any benefit to me paying £15 + a month to odds monkey or PA?

I'm £25 up with the first two offers, should have been bit more at £35 but I fucked up first free bets. I still have a free £10 bet with betfred but there's no decent bets for tomorrow showing yet.

I also still have some referral bingo codes for tombola if anyone wants one. you get £5 credit when creatin new account, bwithout needing to give card details or deposit, they don't have a wagering requirment so if you win on the fiver you can withdraw straight away.

DeleteOrDecay · 24/04/2017 02:13

Quick question does anyone use PayPal to transfer money to the bookies & betfair or is it better to use a bank account?

Verticalvenetianblinds · 24/04/2017 07:11

Ooo yes please overthinking Spartacus. But I have done a few so might already be signed up.
Also the advantage to odds monkey and pa is they show you the offers a d how to do it, and the forums.ita not just the odds matcher

HeyRoly · 24/04/2017 08:18

Can I have a code too please, spartacus? Smile

SierraJensen · 24/04/2017 08:20

Please can I have a code spartacus? Thanks Smile

HollySykes · 24/04/2017 08:24

I've done three this weekend and am £47 up. I made one mistake where somehow the lay bet wasn't placed so lost £10 at the bookies and I did gamble £1 on a special offer that won £19.

I've learnt a few things. Firstly it's tricky to get going, but I think it speeds up once you get the hang of it, so I'm going to hang in there for a while. Secondly as others have said you need a sizeable float, I ended up using about £250 as I was nervous of using more and I do think a separate bank account is a good idea. Thirdly I can see that it could be a gateway to gambling, I was tempted although resisted all but the special offer £1 thing so you have to be disaplined.

What happens when you use up all the free sign up offers?

OverthinkingSpartacus · 24/04/2017 09:36

I'll send the bingo codes this afternoon I'm at appointment and iPad is slow as a snail...

I don't know which to go with, odds monkey or profit accumulator OMis cheaper and the site looks more detailed, but reading about PA seems to get better reviews. Is it just a case of personal preference?
