As the last thread is almost full, here is a nice fresh clean one.

In a nutshell, matched betting is a clever way of making ££££ from the bookies without ever having to gamble.

This is profit accumulator

This is odds monkey

Can anyone remember if Betfred email you when the free bets are added or do I just need to keep checking?

MaidOfStars · 21/04/2017 12:07

I didn't get a notification, they just appeared after about 16 hours.

MaidOfStars · 21/04/2017 12:08

Betfred free bets are added as a balance. You can split it how you want.

Choconuts · 21/04/2017 12:28

Brilliant thank you Smile

titchy · 21/04/2017 12:37

Does anyone know when paddy power add their free bets? I've got £10 placed so was expecting £30 to appear straight away, but the race hasn't yet been run so do they wait until then?

neonrainbow · 21/04/2017 13:06

Yeah i was confused about the liability thing too. You do have to have that amount available.

sherrifffatman · 21/04/2017 13:49

I think you will be able to do the Paddy Power vs Betfair thing but there's more chance of being gubbed as they're the same company.
It doesn't mention this on Oddsmonkey but it was on the Team Profit site.

sherrifffatman · 21/04/2017 13:51

Roly,
I started with £100 in Betfair as after your qualifying bet you raise the odds to around 5.0 which requires a higher liability amount in your Betfair float.

HeyRoly · 21/04/2017 14:54

I did end up putting more money in the Betfair pot - thanks sherrifff

Now I'm starting to realise that I'm going to get in a muddle unless I start tracking everything. I've noticed people talking about spreadsheets so I'm guessing there are templates out there. Only problem is I use my phone for everything because our ancient laptop is barely fit for purpose. Is there a mobile compatible spreadsheet out there? Especially one that appeals to someone who hates spreadsheets? Grin

OverthinkingSpartacus · 21/04/2017 15:12

Exactly @beefarseer

I'tll start of meaning well, I'll ignore his "tips" when something he's suggested wins and he asks how much I win and I explain I didn't back his horse he'll be like "whyyyy I told you blah blah blah" and I'll be telling him it doesn't work like that and he'll be like "umm I'm the professional jockey" stable hand and I'll be like "ummm you're also the professional wanker" and so on.

Bil is lovely and I know he'd be meaning well but still.... Dh gets its different but will still probably say " you should back Newcastle for your betting thing" he'll check results and ask how much I won and blah blah blah. Dh will listen and learn though if I explained it all, it's took me weeks to start understanding myself and i cba explaining it all again. :)

OverthinkingSpartacus · 21/04/2017 15:13

Roly, are you in android or iOS?

There's some decent spreadsheets for both.

OverthinkingSpartacus · 21/04/2017 15:16

Or you could print some off online and fill by hand? If you dint have printer you could print a bunch off at local library.

On android I use office suit 8, if you've used Microsoftword and excel etc, it's pretty much like that.

Spookle · 21/04/2017 15:34

Thank you Maid re: red flags. The work you have done on your tech thread is superb.

Spookily enough I have just done a qualifying bet which was a self found red flag.

Back at 2.2, lay at 2.18. Meant my loss on the £10 qualifier was only -19p rather than the -£1.08 that it would have been when the back odds changed to 2.0 a minute later.

Every penny counts! Grin

MaidOfStars · 21/04/2017 16:01

No worries. I learn best by writing so it's a tool for me too.

Spookle · 21/04/2017 16:08

I tried using one of the spreadsheets but as I had been using a notebook for a few days I didn't find it anywhere near as satisfying so I dropped it.

I'm really enjoying the writing down as part of the whole process as it keeps things fresh in my mind. I also have lots of pretty highlighter colours for different actions. It is becoming a work of art in my eyes and woe betide anyone that goes anywhere near it Grin

Spookle · 21/04/2017 16:10

Oh I still wasn't sure exactly what red fag meant until I read your post. When placing the bet I was thinking 'this must be what a read flag is!' and then your post confirmed it Grin

HeyRoly · 21/04/2017 16:24

Maybe I'll keep a written log then, that sounds like fun spookle Grin Would you mind telling me how you organise all your data? I don't know where to start.

MillieMoodle · 21/04/2017 16:48

Hoping someone can help me here as I am totally confused by an offer that I think I have taken advantage of.

Offer was: get a free bet up to £30 if your first bet does not win.

So I put a £30 bet on a horse to win at odds of 8.00. According to Oddsmonkey this type of offer is a risk free bet. Laid at 8.4, liability was 191.44. Horse won, so exchange took the liability of 191.44 but I now have 270.00 at the bookies. I was expecting £240.00. What has happened?! Why do I have £30 extra? It's not showing as a free bet and it's let me request to withdraw it all.

CalmItKermitt · 21/04/2017 16:51

Help! Can't find the "match odds" market on 138 😳

Spookle · 21/04/2017 17:01

HeyRoly it would be diffcult to put into words so I will work on a 'fake' mock up later tonight and take pics for you.

HeyRoly · 21/04/2017 17:04

That's really kind of you spookle, thanks so much!

Verticalvenetianblinds · 21/04/2017 17:37

I've had 2 days off it now coz I'm stuck. How do accas etc work? Not sure how to progress now Confused

BeeFarseer · 21/04/2017 18:38

No clue about accas. There are so many opening offers that I'm sticking to them until they run out.

I'm going to do what another poster suggested and book a half hour one-to-one tutorial with Oddsmonkey to learn about accas.

titchy · 21/04/2017 18:50

Milly your original £30 is in there too.

Does anyone know how to use the free bets on Bet365? My first bet won so I have both winnings and free bets in my account, but when i place another bet it comes off my winnings not the freebies Confused

Mrscog · 21/04/2017 18:54

Hi everyone, I'm back, just used up another of my free £5 bets from Coral - on a horse race in Bath at 7.30.

Have to place my other 2 bets tomorrow to use the free ones but struggling to find the ones with the right odds.

How long until you stop feeling sick when you place/lay bets?!

I feel so nervous when doing it even though I check and triple check and I'm in the fortunate position where if I made a mistake and lost £20 it wouldn't matter.
