Fred and Noah looks completely legit, they seem to be using social media to advertise by asking ppl to share pics of kids wearing their products for a discount, nice way for them to spread the word IMO

EauDeParslaii · 19/06/2016 11:11

Very interesting comment on that YouTube clip asking for the commenter to be pointed to the relevant legislation that states a scheme is not a pyramid if you can overtake your upline.
Wonder whether that will get a reply!

cozietoesie · 19/06/2016 11:34

If a company eg offers discounts to volume purchasers, uses social media, has sales parties, offers commission to reps - in fact has reps - sells high margin goods etc etc etc, it isn't necessarily an MLM. It's best to do some delving - and to keep them on the radar in case someone in their sales proposes, one sunny day, that the company 'try out' certain practices. (There's at least one large organisation that has 'adapted', likely in a time of financial stress.)

acatcalledjohn · 19/06/2016 12:02

We need to do something more about Younique, and their infuriating claim that buying their shite make up helps empower sexually abused women.

No credible company, or one with morals, feels the need to use charity as a means of a sales tactic. It is sickening and quite frankly every Younique rep who shares this is a cunt.

This shit riles me so much! Angry

Most companies use such hooks in sales or advertising, I fear, acat - it's not a particularly MLM thing.

If it's not 'redressing disadvantage', it's eg emulating high sporting achievers (or anybody or anything in fact that will make their product look better to their particular demographic.) 'twas ever thus.

EauDeParslaii · 19/06/2016 12:55

I can't remember where I saw it (may have been one of these threads?) the younique foundation was contacted and they couldn't tell the person how much of a % of younique sales was donated to them :/
There's another one that does the rounds that says something like "we help battered women" and that saying just doesn't sit well with me for some reason Angry

MrshumbleBrows · 19/06/2016 13:23

Well said Acat and Eau!

ForeverYazoonique · 19/06/2016 13:24

Doesn't Younique have one inaccessible women's retreat which is steeped in mormonism?

acatcalledjohn · 19/06/2016 13:33

I believe so, yes.

"We'll help you if you convert to our religion, which has a history of marrying off underage girls to men old enough to be their grandfather, female suppression and polygamy for men only."

What a way to empower a sexually abused woman.

It doesn't even compare to Sainsbury's selling charity specific merchandise to raise money for Red Nose Day or Children in Need. It's not like they advertise with a "Buy our Be Good to Yourself Italian Meatballs and feel good about yourself helping to empower men fighting testicular cancer"

So no, no credible company advertises quite like that. And the vast majority of companies who donate money to charity keep their fucking gobs shut about it.

ForeverYazoonique · 19/06/2016 13:38

Yes it's not like they give the money raised in the UK to Women's Aid or Refuge...

acatcalledjohn · 19/06/2016 13:40

Not many Mormons in the UK...

EauDeParslaii · 19/06/2016 14:03

youniquefoundation.org/our-story/

"Although the Younique Products company is deeply committed to supporting The Younique Foundation, it is important to note that the Foundation was not established to support the company or sell cosmetics"

youniquefoundation.org/frequently-asked-questions/

"...the amount that can be donated by Younique Products or their founders depends on the donations from others. There is not a fixed percentage of product sales that is donated."

prettyusefulsometimes · 19/06/2016 15:36

Has anyone following the Younique Foundation stuff looked at last year's annual report which is listed on the website? Their US tax form was filed in March this year - of $1.5 million revenue, over $800,000 was spent on wages and expenses for the main "officers".

It is registered as a charitable body in the US (501 (c) 3 ) but doesn't appear registered with the UK Charity Commission.

LTW is still recruiting on local selling pages here - do the recruiters get the £35 registration fee or does it go direct to the totally legit LTW massive (thug life)

Forever Yazoonique and a catcalled john. Benefit did something with Refuge and Avon did something with Womens Aid. But they didnt make it their main source of advertising or tagline. In fact if i remember correctly Benefit donated some products to refuges.

Younique advertising in this way is disgusting. If they cant provide proof then it must be false advertising. Quite apart from the misogyny of the religious affiliations there is the insinuation that they are the only ones to support women in this way Well

a. they arent the only ones (thats assuming they do do as advertised.
b. The meme my friend has been sharing is "when you buy from a beauty counter no lives change"

How the fuck do they know what other companies are doing Not all of them shout it from the rooftops. And that meme insinuates that other companies dont do what they (supposedly) do. When there are at least two examples ive given which disprove that.

yesnyl0121 · 19/06/2016 19:25

Another LTW scam revealed. the cars they give to winners at monthly events are on lease. Bad news for winners when the company can't pay for them anymore as there not even paying out many bonuses.

Latest comment on TV's latest status... Poor lady Sad

ForeverYazoonique · 19/06/2016 20:21

My Younique personality is Forever Yazoo Grin

The more I hear about LTW, the more worried I become.

MrshumbleBrows · 19/06/2016 20:23

Toobusy does that not mean there are also potential tax implications for the 'winner' of these vehicles?

ForeverYazoonique · 19/06/2016 20:39

Goodness Eau I've just seen that! Another "dream" made nightmare *

darceybussell · 19/06/2016 20:42

So not only is LTW an illegal pyramid scheme, it also appears they are insolvent as they seem to be unable to pay their suppliers or distributors. Plus they are still continuing to trade and recruit new distributors whilst insolvent. So the directors are also potentially guilty of wrongful or fraudulent trading. The list of offences is multiplying. If you're in LTW get the hell out before you get the police knocking on your door.
