Sorry for the double post, just read the post properly and it contains the sentence 'I feel energised to boss my work.' Hmm

throwingpebbles · 16/04/2016 16:45

Yes herbalife is an MLM and is currently the subject of a major investigation in the US and the topic of a new film that has just been released -"betting on zero" .... It is quite astonishing people are still joining Herbalife!

Got to go now or would explain more, will be back with links etc later

Toobusytowee · 16/04/2016 17:08

Donad, here is a good little video about Herbalife.

kamchatka23 · 16/04/2016 21:02

A white car you say? My Ariix bot was off "car shopping" today - only thing is she posted something very similar last year when she first joined Forever. It never materialised then either!

Here's a brief review of the Betting on zero film (about Herbalife) by a dear friend

"I now think that this is potentially the most significant mainstream media threat to the 'MLM' cult phenomenon to have ever arrived."

(He was about to write "but of course timeless vie, botwatch and mumsnet are still the bestest" but he got dragged of by one of his Bond girls)

stopfaffing · 16/04/2016 21:06

Just had a read of this link from the fb Botwatch page. It is a superb critique of MLM from Robert Fitzpatrick.

cozietoesie · 16/04/2016 21:17

A good piece, stopfaffing.

cozietoesie · 16/04/2016 21:19

...mainstream media .....throwing. Mainstream media.

donadumaurier · 16/04/2016 21:24

Thank you for the info, I suspected as much. What worries me is how many might fall for the whole 'this will get you through your exams' act :(

cozietoesie · 16/04/2016 21:43

Yes - the potential damage is tremendous. Perhaps you might be in a position to bring Timeless Vie and Botwatch to the attention of other students, maybe even student bodies?

clarinsgirl · 16/04/2016 22:25

Saw this and thought of bots

Good point, well made Clarinsgirl

Sadly once people have spent money on something it gets even harder to convince them that they're wrong because they've made the investment. We all like to think we have made rational decisions - especially those that have cost money.

Those that do realise end up feeling like fools. I think we need to emphasise that they are victims of a very clever, very manipulative fraud and it's not their fault.

I was a victim of a more blatant fraud once. I had to call the police and I was crying down the phone as I felt like such a fool. The call handler was lovely - she said "you're not an idiot you're just a nice person, and you expect others to be the same. Most are, but some people will take advantage of that."

And therein lies the whole MLM phenomenon.

BSintolerant · 17/04/2016 01:59

patzy The Mirror article on the Traffic Monsoon pyramid scam you posted above is very interesting.

Are the rude LTW bots no longer involved with Traffic Monsoon?

Patzy85 · 17/04/2016 12:10

BS - I don't think they are now. They are serial MLMers. Also involved with other schemes such as ACN.

cozietoesie · 17/04/2016 12:36

Sorry - I posted on the wrong thread this morning. Call it the Sunday morning effect. Grin

throwingpebbles · 17/04/2016 14:18

Not sure if this has been shared before but quite a clear explanation of MLMs

Toobusytowee · 17/04/2016 15:32

Someone sent me this link about Herbalife. It mentions the new film and also what sneaky things bots have been up to. The person complaining to the reporter has the initials T. V.

It's a Daily Mail link. www.dailymail.co.uk/money/experts/article-3543363/TONY-HETHERINGTON-Barclays-giving-boost-Herbalife.html#comments

cozietoesie · 17/04/2016 17:16

Interesting. I wonder if the practice is replicated elsewhere?

stopfaffing · 17/04/2016 17:20

Yeah throwing I have read that article before but it is worth reading again, particularly the comments and feedback at the end of the article. It is fascinating to read peoples' experiences with MLM - all negative, without exception. A lot of wise people out there.

Toobusy, Barclays allowing Herbalife to have a stall in the branch to scam customers to sell products!!! WTAF Shock. I can imagine myself becoming extremely angry should that happen at MY bank Angry.

BSintolerant · 17/04/2016 18:02

My bank's a trendy wine bar a Herbalife HQ! No wonder so many banks went tits up.

BSintolerant · 17/04/2016 18:09

Greengrocers sell vegetables – they don’t sign up other people to become greengrocers and sell vegetables in competition.

Grin Vegetables. Exactly. Are we to expect a farmers' market to pop up in Barclays next?

Toobusytowee · 17/04/2016 19:41

Barclays and Herbalife have been linked together by someone else. I don't know if you've heard of him?

cozietoesie · 17/04/2016 19:44

Might I recommend that people tread very carefully indeed, if they're minded to respond to the new post seeking positive experiences from those working in MLMs.

Remember the Talk Guidelines.

Just sayin' Smile

throwingpebbles · 17/04/2016 20:28

At least give me a clue where to find it cozie

cozietoesie · 17/04/2016 20:29

Interesting linking, Toobusy. Smile
