Gimlet - I know nothing of Mormons - so i won't comment on what I know nothing about!

cozietoesie · 18/03/2016 10:10

Of possible interest, Eye, as well as that discussion with Fitzpatrick, are the multitude of videos which came up on the YouTube 'sidebar' on the right hand side. (I'm afraid that I don't know the formal title for it if it has one.)

People could do worse than have a quick look through some of those I reckon. Smile

Eyespying · 18/03/2016 10:16

'i won't comment on what I know nothing about!'

Well that's never stopped WWC in the past.

Eyespying · 18/03/2016 10:24

cozietoesie In reality, there have been very few valuable exposés of 'MLM' rackets put on film. The most famous one in recent years was probably the 'Dateline' hidden camera documentary about 'Amway Quixtar' from 2003.

This documentary film about the history of the 'MLM' phenomenon (influenced by my published work), is apparently still in production.

Thanks for that, Eye. A useful pointer. Smile

We search and search for genuine published figures from MLM companies that prove their assertions about six or seven figure incomes achievable to many for working 5-10 hours a week in pj's around their family blah blah blah. Not found any as yet. Found evidence that most lose money though. You would imagine these companies would be falling over themselves to provide actual evidence of their fantasy promotions?

Twunk · 18/03/2016 10:31

Pootle yes I see what you mean! Grin but you have a good point that has been continually made on these threads - those making money out of MLMs (the tiny percentage) are clearly engaging and talented individuals who could do so well in other areas if they used their talents and energy in other areas.

Twunk · 18/03/2016 10:31

Repeating myself

Twunk · 18/03/2016 10:33

And I'm sure the entirety of MN would be blushing at your comments Eyes - it really is, for the most part, a fantastic bunch of women (and men, and chimps)

Eyespying · 18/03/2016 10:40

Twunk Please don't make the mistake of confusing genuinely talented, and engaging, individuals with otherwise mediocre Narcissists who inhabit a parallel reality-inverting totalitarian state in microcosm, complete with reality-inverting propaganda which constantly presents them as talented and engaging persons whose perfect example must be duplicated.

throwingpebbles · 18/03/2016 10:41

I've just had a message, on another forum I am on from a woman who is terribly worried about her student daughter. Since signing up for FL she says her daughter has undergone a complete personality change, won't talk about anything over than FL, cutting out lots of friends and family

  1. those who have been there, any advice?
  2. this is by no means the first time I have seen this kind of story. Indeed when you look at many bots old Facebook posts it is like reading posts by another person ....
Twunk · 18/03/2016 10:43

Well maybe Eyes but I am annoyed at the waste of human potential.

Eyespying · 18/03/2016 10:44

Twunk At the risk of making everyone blush, there have been some genuinely talented and engaging people contibuting to these threads (yourself included).

Eyespying · 18/03/2016 10:55

throwingpebbles Initial common-sense advice is try to stay cool and don't lose contact under any circumstances. You could send this concerned-mother to my article on the cultic nature of 'FLP.' This should give her some more insight.

Gimlet1984 · 18/03/2016 10:56

Chimps you previously stated to Eyespying "I can tell you this... you know nothing of slavery, or anything regarding Mormons - because if you did you would not be so flippant with your remarks. You may have swallowed the combined readings in regards to Turing or whatever - but that's where you knowledge ends...."

You are now saying "I know nothing of Mormons - so i won't comment on what I know nothing about!"

So what your saying is you can admonish someone freely however your own knowledge on the subject is non existent. You have been rumbled by your own slip of the tongue as Eyespying noticed and are now backtracking. You would be wise to follow your own advice otherwise your flippant remarks will continue to bite you in the ass.

de-lurks

Reality is that it is impossible to make a six figure income from MLM by working only 5-10 hous per week. All of the top earners have worked many hours per day for several years to achieve it or even round the clock to do it in a much shorter timeframe. You can never switch off from it so really unless you're asleep you're 'working'. Is this worth it for money? In my case I have to confess.....no.

buffythebotslayer35 · 18/03/2016 11:39

Throwing This is exactly what I am going through now with a family member that joined FL last year. At the time I was at a loss to explain how she could have undergone a mind lobotomy and personality transplant, overnight. Then after reading Eyes research and other material on net, realised she'd been taken in by a cult or cult-like bizniz. We still haven't got her back yet.

Like a bad gambling addiction, she keeps putting the money in the slot machine with no profitable returns. The monthly mediocre 'bonus cheques' , odd bottle of tat sold, endless mindset training is just enough to keep her believing.

Seriously i think there should be treatment centres/rehabs for recovering addicts of mlm, where they can undergo a de-brainwashing programme, reconnect with their core-self/family/real friends & 'kick' the habit.

Eyespying · 18/03/2016 11:49

buffythebotslayer35 Thanks for telling us that. Sadly, cult exit counselling, is an unregulated area already infested by cults themselves as well as by parasites various self-styled 'therapists.' People who have come out, or are in the process of coming out, of cults, are often highly-vulnerable to manipulators pretending affinity, and/or to recruitment into other exploitative groups.

Please let me know if you feel you need any help.

buffythebotslayer35 · 18/03/2016 12:00

Thanks Eyes I can well believe that. Seems there are always wolves sniffing around where vulnerability exists. The thing is the more you try and reason with her, the more she shuts us out. I understand thats the whole 'negativity/positivity' thing mlm's spouts. You dont believe that something like this is possible, until it happens to someone close.

I'm finding the whole subject of mlm's/pyramids/cults really fascinating and these threads, TV, Botwatch & your site are an invaluable contribution to raising the wider awareness of these things.

Eyespying · 18/03/2016 12:12

buffythebotslayer35 Legalistically, the criminogenic cult phenomenon doesn't exist in the UK and elsewhere. The UK government has never had stated policy on cults, and for years, the only UK governement adviser on cults was Prof. Eileen Barker - one of the world's leading, co-opted, academic cult apologists, who energetically obstructed all intellectually rigorous debate by UK government officials banning the use of the term, 'cult' at the Home Office, and who attempted to forbid everyone else from using it as well.

Barker's 'Thought Police' activities were funded by UK tax payers to the tune of several millions pounds. She was even given an OBE by Tony Blair's administration.

throwingpebbles · 18/03/2016 12:19

It is frightening isn't it buffy .... So many seem to lose their old life overnight... Think it was smiinky who has been reading a book on cults and helping people leave... Will ask her what it was called!

So sorry your family member is going through this.

I have seen someone I know begin to get sucked in to FL by one of her oldest friends, immediately all the normal posts stopped and cloney ones began...then she read TV, sent a v upset message but then she must have read the links I sent her and now it is like she has her old life back again Smile

throwingpebbles · 18/03/2016 12:20

Thanks eyes Smile -
