Interesting article on ESPN of all places on a newer mlm...AdvoCare. Could Aiirix already be losing its new kid on the pyramid block status.
Seemingly for the more sporty bots out there. Big weekend "success" day, t shirts for the bots, guest speakers, all the usual culty balls that come with "opportunity" "success" companies.

Interesting article, foxes. Here is a screen shot of their official figures for 2014. Don't forget that the amounts are gross income, before operating expenses are taken into account.

Looks like a typical pyramid scheme to me, and this one relies on endorsements from sports stars and others who are heavily involved in the sports industries, to legitimise their scam and sign up downlines. Bastards Angry

I could do with some help. There have been a few posts on local facebook groups advertising mlms. I would like to message the admin to advise they don't allow these but I don't feel I am literate enough to make my point succinctly.
Would someone mind writing me a little statement so I can keep it and fire off to these groups when I see a post come up? Also, a link to the sunday times article would be good, I have had a search and can't find it. Thank you!

Kanga59 · 17/03/2016 07:26

I explain the company is a disguised pyramid scheme and preys on sahm and link to TV

Kanga59 · 17/03/2016 07:28

Anyone else noticed how whenever a good idea is tabled that we have a visit from either a Bot or bot supporter. and then they dominate discussion.

The latest idea that we didn't quite finish discussing was about raising finance for a more targeted facebook compaign

Send em in FL....

Melaw21 · 17/03/2016 08:11

You are so right Kanga from now on, I am
Going to screen shot the convo every time a bot arrives so that We can remember the topic at hand. There was a few concurrent topics running wasnt there?

Melaw21 · 17/03/2016 08:12

Oh dear... My grammar... Sorry! Lol

Eyespying · 17/03/2016 08:13

This is quite an new encouraging article on the 'MLM' phenomenon by American economist, William Keep. That said, I've yet to find anything entirely original in Keep's published thinking. However he has acted as an FTC adviser and he retains influence over US regulators/legislators. Keep timidly refuses to employ the word 'cult' in public, because he says he's not a qualified expert in that field, but privately Keep has openly stated that 'MLM' companies hide cults.

Melaw21 · 17/03/2016 08:27

Sorry... Should have clarified the 'bot' statement with next time a 'angry and or agressive' bot arrives.

DairyingLass · 17/03/2016 08:34

Delurking again briefly.

I find it interesting that despite the massively widespread criticism of their industry on here, so few bots have come out of the woodwork to defend it. Only 3 I think, in the course of 15 threads!

I am also in an industry which attracts a degree of strong and public criticism at times. A telling difference is that I and many many others are happy to put our heads above the parapet if needs be to defend what we do and debunk various myths. (And when we do that we are often able to assay criticism because a lot of it comes from crap that's peddled on facebook that bears no relation to what we do.)

It's clear to me here that if all the MLM 'slating' on here was as unjustified as Natasha claims, there would be a deluge of bots on here defending their case. The fact that they aren't suggests your campaign is working, raising an awareness of the bullshit, even if it's just at a subliminal level for many bots at this stage.

Keep up the good work!

DollyTwat · 17/03/2016 08:36

I wonder if FL up lines are now doing what notcompliantbot was doing. Telling people to hold secret shizzles where they can spout any old rubbish.

I'd very much like to have a recording of one of those

Bovnydazzlers · 17/03/2016 08:37

botofspother that's a good idea to have. Also these posts are deleted by my town's admin, but sometimes not before people have responded to the message for 'more details hun'. A good succinct one pager we could link to with key MLM failings with evidence (this may already exist) would be great to post, with links of course to the more detailed TV, botwatch, eyes blog etc.

Note the offending non compliant video has now been removed from YouTube (not before it was saved) Surprise surprise. Reckon the bots will also be getting emails saying no training allowed on YouTube unless with prior approval of FL UK.

Bovnydazzlers · 17/03/2016 08:37

Also, where is lastuser, has she changed names or has she been kidnapped by FL HQ?

Dolly of course they are. I work in sales, I take a look at MLM products and think how on earth would I sell these, they're overpriced, awful packaged, have no substantive health claims/value and the market is saturated. You've never going to be able to create a large and ongoing customer base.

Unless you tell your customers they're miracle cures. You might not do that on your public page any more, but you certainly will on your private group, over the phone, by text message or face to face.

Eyespying · 17/03/2016 09:00

holdontoyourbutts Just by applying common-sense, you can see that no one with fully-functioning critical faculties has been buying 'MLM' wampum based on value and demand. Apart from the miraculous properties generally ascribed to effectively-unsaleable 'MLM' wampum, most buyers of it have done so because they have been slavishly duplicating a proven plan to achieve financial freedom. The plan always says buy a specific quota of products each month and recruit others to duplicate the same plan, etc. ad infinitum.

Tellingly, commission payments have been offered to 'MLM' Bots on their own purchases and those of everyone whom they recruit and those of everyone whom their recruits recruit, ad infinitum.

Purchases of 'MLM' wampum by members of the general do exist, but for obvious reasons, they have been negligible.

Eyespying · 17/03/2016 09:07

Eyespying completely agree. I also notice how no-one in an MLM scheme refers to themselves as a salesperson. It's always a mentor, advisor, expert or distributor.

Sales is hard. It takes a lot of mental effort, you need to deal with a lot of rejection whilst maintaining a positive attitude, no amount of Dave O'connor's mindset training is going to help you sell aloe gloop.

throwingpebbles · 17/03/2016 09:33

Quite holdon and if you read between the lines of FL head offices order to distributors sent out in the wake of the Sunday Times article, it left precisely that loophole open. In essence it said : don't put these claims on social media, and you are responsible if you make any claims. What was interesting was that it didn't make any kind of exlicit prohibition on making those claims "behind closed doors" .....
It's always what isn't said that is most interesting Wink

throwingpebbles · 17/03/2016 09:35

*explicit

Ps. I believe last read natashas impassioned posts about the how ethical and lucrative FL is and skipped off to peddle aloe and dream of a yellow suitcase. Possibly. Grin

Eyespying · 17/03/2016 09:39

holdontoyourbutts I'ts even more absurd than that, because, only when faced with various federal and state investigations, the 'Herbalife' bosses now say their insolvent Bots, weren't ever trying to sell anything , because they were merely 'Members and Discount Customers.'

Remember, since the 1980s, tens of millions of take-it-or-leave-it contracts arbitrarily defined a never-ending chain of insolvent 'Herbalife' Bots as 'Distributors' and 'Independent Business Owners,' but now these contracts say 'Members'.

As I've said before, when painted into a corner, the ultimate pathetic defence of 'MLM' racketeers is:

If you read the word 'seller' as 'buyer': then fraud becomes legal.

Since Natasha failed to answer any of Bettyberry's fantastic questions I think they should be stickied and reposted anytime she returns until we get an answer.

  1. Over the last 2 years how many people have you personally recruited?

  2. How many of those recruits have stuck it out?

  3. How many of those recruits have made back the cost of the start up box?

  4. How many of those recruits have made money every month?

  5. what is the average earnings per month for those recruits who have stuck it out?

Is there any suggestion abroad - so far - that some MLMs might be considering diversifying/expanding into Home Security products? That would seem like an interesting development to me. Wink

(And a good 'hook' as well as real 'high margin' potentially.)
