Beware the ides of March!

The bots will be complaining that those nasty middle aged women (less of the middle-aged: you can piss right off) on mumsnet have stabbed them in the back with very sharp knives and now there's blood all over their white cars, barns, and rented castles.

"Infamy! Infamy! They've all got it in for me ....!"

Et tu, Eyes? 😂😂

Live by the sword and die by the sword, eh?

throwingpebbles · 15/03/2016 07:21

I'm younger than fay ...does that make me middle aged or not????

throwingpebbles · 15/03/2016 07:32

I think at least fays appearance has been a constructive opportunity for reflection. And I think people have articulately explained why we refer to them as bots, and why it is the unusual (and exploitative) nature of MLMs that mean there has to be a degree of focus on the individuals that do the dirty work for the "brand"

stopfaffing · 15/03/2016 07:43

Also, I think Fay should be aware that she is being prospected and softened up by her 'friends' in order to, at a later date, be signed up. She is definitely seen as a hot prospect Hmm. Hopefully, having read this thread (contentious though she says it is) she is forewarned now and may be safe.

Aloedofcrap · 15/03/2016 07:46

What is a real shame is that at lot of the high up bots have most likely developed some genuine skills over the years, such a public speaking, leadership, training & motivation.

If they were to go and and get some accredited qualifications (not from the Internet) they could possibly become genuine business women, working flexibly.

They could sell their services to corporates, helping to train and motivate sales staff, they could coach managers etc on public speaking skills.

But not in the form of the mindset gurus who are preying on the vulnerable MLM adherents, peddling brainwashing books and CDs, but genuinely freelance business owners offering a service which they in turn would get paid for.

Instead of encouraging vulnerable women to part with their cash to obtain an impossible dream they could instead use their stories of adversity for good.

The hot topic bot has obviously gone through very challenging times, and is clearly very motivated and driven. Why not use that experience as a way of helping others through similar experiences like Katie Piper has done.

This route would most likely not generate a 6 figure income but would probably be more rewarding less time consuming and is certainly a more admirable way of earning a living.

inthewildwildwood · 15/03/2016 07:59

Thanks to the joys of people posting their FB memories I now know that one of our local FL manager-bots has previously been flogging a couple of other MLMs. The irony of her using the same script for how this will change her life then as now isn't lost on me. Its clearly lost on her though!

Twunk · 15/03/2016 08:19

Aloed I agree. None of these people are idiots - and they clearly have a LOT of energy and drive. It's like using your powers for evil or good. I think the attention and the "look at me! I'm businessy" events become addictive. Eyes is right when it comes to the cult-like qualities - people don't want to leave and be ostracised from all these 'friendships' and attention, even though the relationships are based on exploitation and fear (fear of disapproval, fear of loss of income, fear of another MLM poaching your downline etc).

It all strikes me as terribly fake, despite the "I support my fellow women" hyperbole. We all know that isn't true!

Twunk · 15/03/2016 08:21

I am older than Fay - not much though. And I can assure her that 40 is just round the corner. Maybe she'll start rejecting her own opinions as "middle aged harpy" at that point. Somehow I doubt it.

Exactly inthe !

Eyespying · 15/03/2016 08:32

Apropos of fay81 - This was someone who arrived on these threads and who first claimed to have absolutely no vested interest in 'MLM,' but, almost in the same breath, then claimed to have been following these threads with interest. This doublethink character started reciting 'MLM' jargon and certain other reality-inverting key-words ('harassment, harassment order, bully, bullying, police, derogatory,' etc.). Thus, seeking to prevent other MN members from expressing their thoughts in accurate terms, by trying to make them feel guilty.

Eyespying · 15/03/2016 08:38

The Ides of March are come.

Ay BSintolerant, but not gone.

shirleyknotanotherbot · 15/03/2016 08:57

fay confessed to being an mlmer (20:04) "Although if you look hard enough you will see i am an arbonne "rep" purely because despite my millions I won't pay full price for shampoo".

throwingpebbles · 15/03/2016 08:59

Missed that shirley !

shirleyknotanotherbot & throwingpebbles Little of what fay81 said, made any real sense. The 'arbonne' admission was typical of the entire exchange.

Eyespying · 15/03/2016 10:14

This is a very interesting variation of a dissimulated closed-market swindle hidden behind a real investment-commodity; the theoretical market-value of which was being artificially controlled and pumped. This ingenious scam went for the rich and greedy: rather than the poor and vulnerable, but it shines a light into certain facets of 'MLM' cultic racketeering.

www.bbc.com/news/magazine-35802891

BTW, I have actually met some of the people who were involved in this. The one common-sense question which no victim seems to have asked, was:

Why, if these documents were such a sure-fire investment, would their owner want to sell shares in them?

Annie65 · 15/03/2016 10:31

Phew, I go to bed early and wake up to find 8 more pages have gone by. Chatty lot arn't you? Just caught up. I for one think the word Bot is fine especially as fl seem to exept it too. I am past "middle-aged" so I stand here, leaning on my zimmer-frame enjoying the brilliant discussion we are having. When my family member first joined fl, I also had 2 other people on my fb spouting all about the "lifestyle" you could also have if you joined. I wanted to know more about it and what all the fuss was but in an unbiased way. I remember thinking it sounds marvellous but also to good to be true. So I started to trowel through the internet and came across the very first thread . The rest is history. I have learnt so much since then, I didnt even imagine the horror stories I have since heard, and I for one am so glad I came across these threads. So I thank you all for the stories you have shared and for educating me on Mlms. Right, carry on.Grin

powertotheparslaii · 15/03/2016 10:36

According to my very very broke JP bot who is forever leaving her very very young children to attend training weekends. All this funded by her single mum benefits. I'd love to point out to her that if she put the money she's spent on JP towards a distance learning course of some type, she could have studied and easily set up a home based flexible business that would actually generate an income Sad

Eyes it falls under the old adage "If it sounds too good to be true - it probably is"

shirleyknotanotherbot · 15/03/2016 10:47

Bot has posted a pic of her cheques "loving my post thank you forever"

Two cheques totalling just over £150. On closer inspection one is dated December and one March. This is a very active bot with lots of followers.

Sorry, I don't know how to blank her name or I would post it here.

I'm still quite uneasy at the bullying comments made by fay. The people highlighted on here are sharing their lies all over the internet so how is proving that they are lying classed as bullying? I'm sick to death of the lies about how their snake oils can cure cancer. All this hounding of people to join the pyramids is getting out of hand too. There are a lot of different people who contribute towards these threads and I think it is very very important as it highlights exactly what these mlm's are doing.

Motorheadmum Let's face it, if 'MLM/Prosperity Gospel' cultic racketeering didn't exist, then these threads wouldn't exist.

By the same logic, if Anders Breivik hadn't committed mass murder then he wouldn't be in jail pretending that he's a victim.
