I thought my US friend was making sales the way she was talking and travelling and how excited she was. It was only afterwards when she was left severely depressed and a hermit that I realised what had happened.

eyespying given the personality transformation of my "Arbonne" friend and my experience there I am going to read about cult / religious exit counselling as there are definite parallels and I can see that there are some resources. Of course they are "post brainwashing" resources but maybe I can find something to help me approach her constructively.

The US is awash with MLMs and there must be an industry (even if it's small) who deals with people who've been brainwashed (and I realise that not all people are). My friend tonight's post was markedly out of character.

cubic At the time I signed I had an ill child and thought it would be my way to work from home. It was explained that you would get the start up back within 3 months - yeah right! If anyone queried it they were told it was an essential thing to build your business. I tried to cancel the next day but was told it was impossible. Turns out the contract I had signed but was told not to date stated I had 14 days to change my mind. It was such an absolute nightmare.

Ah. I didn't know about FM. They breed like tsetse flies.

Sadly I do know that my 2 stories are typical for MLMs. That's why I'm so worried and angry for this friend.
