It is just a shame because we could have joined forces. Ah well, maybe we should make our own vid Grin

cozietoesie · 22/02/2016 08:13

Full of people with purple hair. (Blonde with a parslai power rinse.) It has possibilities. Smile

Powertotheparalai · 22/02/2016 08:18

I really doubt he's interested in joining forces with MN. He's doing a controversial critique to gain exposure for his own business! A lot of people in the fitness industry (quite rightly) hate JP, Herbalife, Forever.

GreenGoblin0 · 22/02/2016 08:25

In other news, barn bot has moved, stand by for gushing posts from other bots about how amazing her new home is and how anyone can have this if they join forever. meanwhile a certain other "lifestyle guru" shill has been spending the weekend slagging off her PA on FB for booking "cheapo travel and cheapo hotel" for the success weekend along with pictures of the train toilet that she was sat opposite!

Gimlet1984 · 22/02/2016 08:25

It seems like he wants to do his own thing rather than join with mumsnet. As you say being controversial probably helps him gain customers.

Gimlet1984 · 22/02/2016 08:30

Was this the one with the castle green goblin? You would have thought she would pay for her pa's travel and accommodation as business expenses. I guess 20k a month doesn't go very far in forever. She must be renting a warehouse for all the unused stock.

cozietoesie · 22/02/2016 08:33

She needs a PA? Smile

mlmbotwatcher · 22/02/2016 08:37

i wouldn't worry about RH. looks like he has a different agenda to you.

you want to stop mlm as vulnerable people are losing money.

he wants to stop people buying and selling supposed weight loss products alongside a healthy eating and excercise regime.

he wouldn't be interested in younique or nuskin for example.

hie video and campaign help his personal business.

GreenGoblin0 · 22/02/2016 08:40

no castle for this shill yet. she's BFF with barn bot.

cozietoesie · 22/02/2016 08:40

So be it.

Eyespying · 22/02/2016 08:50

In attacking 'MLMs' in this way, Ritchie the personal fitness trainer is not unique, but he is the most original and hard hitting to date.

There have been a steady stream other guys in the personal fitness world who have made videos taking the piss out of 'MLM.'

e.g. In the UK, Daniel Wheeler posted this call to a 'Herbalife' Bot, last year.

In the USA, there's a guy called Marc Lobliner who has made similar videos.

GreenGoblin0 · 22/02/2016 08:52

hmm interesting she has deleted all of her public content

Eyespying · 22/02/2016 09:06

Earlier in the thread someone referred to 'Mormons' not drinking coffee.

The actual rule in the 'Mormon Church' is even more weird, because in 1833 adherents of Joseph Smith's 'religious' fantasies were originally forbidden all 'hot drinks,' but this is now taken to mean tea and coffee.

In reality, if you are a practising 'Mormon,' you are only allowed to eat and drink what the leaders of the 'Church' say you can.

*dozyoldtwonk" A very moving post. Your family member posted: "The video ends by explaining that Younique has given her a new lease of life, it has saved her life, they are all her family now, she has something to live for etc. "
As many (eyespying especially) point out, MLMs use cult techniques. Well, religious techniques really. True MLM adherents have been sucked into a belief system and have undergone a conversion experience - been "Born Again". None of this helps you much but you might consider that - and treat her utterances as if - your relative has converted to some esoteric religion?

Patzy85 · 22/02/2016 09:25

I don't think Richie Howey has had the chance to realise this we are all on the same page, but whatever his reasons for the video I think he did a fantastic job of creating awareness and highlighting the disgusting behaviour of bots.

It went viral in no time, it's had over 60k views and most importantly it had a LOT of support. I think it really shows that most people really do feel the same way that we all do about MLM scams.

I just hope he creates a Forever Living one next!

xenu1 · 22/02/2016 09:29

Hi.

Just checked Mr Howey's FB site. I'm not impressed. He's flogging protein supplements. And this pic off his site is selling the "fitness" dream, as much as an FL "dream home" pic does. And his JP vid attacks the JP bots in a sexist manner w/o mentioning the MLM hook (I only got half-way through).

Anyway, my 2p.

Toobusytowee · 22/02/2016 09:55

I've read through Howie's comments on his fitness site. He is a little naive and not quite understanding how science works but is confident enough to say to ignore doctor's advice and is telling pregnant women they don't need folic acid. This is based on a couple of studies he has read by 'Harvard' scientists so it must be true. It was pointed out to him what the studies actually showed and that there are many other studies showing different results. He just comes back with the line that it was a Harvard scientist, you can't argue with science, doctors are uneducated.

As others have said, I think his motivation was just to go viral and get his business attention. He doesn't want to bring down MLMs, he probably doesn't even know the first thing about how they operate. He is only interested in the nutritional aspect of it.

Which is fine, some of the posts on his page are from people saying they won't use JP anymore. It will all help our cause.

DayToDayShit · 22/02/2016 10:06

Was just about to say that maybe RH has something of his own to flog. Rubbish JP then reveal what he wants to sell and perhaps the protein things are it.

Eyespying · 22/02/2016 10:17

RH is obviously flogging his own stuff, but the fact that he is in the personal fitness business, has enabled him to see elements the 'MLM' racket very clearly.

The bosses of groups like JP have been using exemplary shills to peddle magic pills and potions to vulnerable people; particularly women suffering from low self-esteem. Even the briefest investigation reveals that JP wampum can have little, or no, real effect.

RH knows that few people can ever develop physiques like his own, and those who do, have put in endless hours of work in the gym and have followed strict protein-packed diets.

Gimlet1984 · 22/02/2016 10:23

I do feel quite sorry for those in forever when I see some of these success day pictures. She looks exhausted and drained almost in a trance?

cozietoesie · 22/02/2016 10:28

On these 'Success Days' - remind me whose 'success' it's supposed to be?

Gimlet1984 · 22/02/2016 10:38

Kristina Rihanoff is now a forever ambassador she's encouraging people to join in this vid.

Eyespying · 22/02/2016 10:38

The tragedy is that these pay-through-the-nose-to-enter orgies of deluded 'MLM' self-gratification really are building Bots' self-esteem. We know that some time soon, they are all going to run out of cash, energy, etc., and come crashing back down to Earth, but they are progammed not to consider this reality.

user1455833347 · 22/02/2016 10:44

Hi

Long time lurker here. I just want to say, I think this thread (and all the others), bot watch and TV are great.

I started looking into MLMs because I was utterly fed up of all the posts on fb by my bots. It all just seemed so disingenuous. When I first typed 'mlm scam' into Google the results were basically JP, fl etc bots trying to tell me how sensible I was for researching their company first but there is no way, not ever, no siree that jp, fl or whatever is a scam.

Now, thanks to all you wonderful people, anyone searching 'mlm scam' will find this thread, TV etc, so it's working.

Fwiw, I've seen howie's video and although it's great that something anti-mlm is getting so many views, I think he's a bit of a twat. The constant reference of 'bitches' makes me a bit uncomfortable, it just feels as though there's an undercurrent of misogyny about it. We're doing great without him.

Melaw21 · 22/02/2016 10:55

Welcome user! waves 👋👋, I think you are absolutely right about the misogyny, think I got so excited about the prospect of a new #manhun that I missed the actually quite negative aspects to his video, we are raising substantial awareness with or without him, and your post has proved this!
Thanks for the gentle reminder 😊
