On Virgin trains on a weekend it costs an extra tenner each way on top of the price of your train ticket

That £10 represents a lot of aloe though if you're at the bottom of the funnel...

Melaw21 · 21/02/2016 18:03

Yes last !! Next time maybe? 😂😂

DairyingLass · 21/02/2016 18:09

Lurker here

Can't help but wonder if the government turn a blind eye to MLMs because whilst the majority of lower bots don't earn a living, they are at least self employed and can therefore be on tax credits rather than an unemployed statistics.

Enjoying the momentum of these threads ... secretly hope that a journalist takes THIS up as a story, - ie. mumsnet preoccupation with MLMs - that in itself could potentially do great damage to FL types methinks.

Motorheadmum · 21/02/2016 18:12

Love the video!

darceybussell · 21/02/2016 18:53

I'm reposting this anonymised Clarella and hoping MNHQ let it stay. Some people are recruited into MLMs at vulnerable times in their lives, some people are just trying to make a few extra quid, some of the shills are brainwashed into continuing.

And some people are just dicks.

I'm still giggling at 'grand master juice plus bitch'

Eyespying · 21/02/2016 19:06

This shameful book unintentionally sets why it has been so easy for 'MLM' racketeers to entrapped mums.

DairyingLass You're right, 'Direct Selling' has been seen by many short-sighted politicians as a way of lowering unemployment figures. However, certain politicians have been completely duped by the 'MLM/Direct Selling' fairy story and have become useful idiots. In this clip from the 1990s, Tony Blair recites misleading statistics fed to him by the so-called 'UK Direct Selling Association.' The Blair video is still being used by 'MLM' racketeers to commit fraud and obstruct justice. It is not known what exactly Tony Blair received in return for making this tragicomic propaganda broadcast.

new post is up! timelessvie.wordpress.com/2016/02/21/by-now-my-spending-was-way-over-my-earnings-ex-bot-tells-all-third-in-a-series/

Our brave informer talks about how she started losing money, and time with her family, in FL. :(

The whole Dot Com/Forever Living love in just popped into my newsfeed so I thought I'd look a bit more. Nauseating stuff. I'm sure it's a worthwhile cause so god only knows why they want to align themselves with FL.

throwingpebbles · 21/02/2016 19:44

They seem completely entangled in FL to be honest.Angry . Might be worth a report to the Charity Commission....

Toobusytowee · 21/02/2016 19:59

Good blog post Last. Depressing though. That poor woman! Hopefully other bots can relate to her and see themselves.

stopfaffing · 21/02/2016 20:13

OK so I found a DM article through Tina Crowley's fb page here which mentioned workingmums.co.uk website. I had a quick look and it seems to have details of employers in all sorts of industries. Some areful searching led me to this list of job opportunities. I clicked on the second one on the list and it led me to this page...

I imagine this site is crawling with "work from home" business opportunities like this example and I wonder whether the person who runs this site is aware of MLM companies and how destructive they are. Perhaps they should be told?

Thanks Darcey, that's what I wanted to do then realised I didn't know how to do the scribbles Grinthought I'd posted without the pic!

To be honest the guy just wants as many likes as possible for his own business - but it's an honest business and about basic good old fashioned 'eat sensibly and work out' ethics. (As far as I can tell).

ambler21 · 21/02/2016 20:38

Eye I have sent you a PM.

Eyespying · 21/02/2016 20:52

ambler21 Got that PM, thanks!

Kanga59 · 21/02/2016 20:55

That guys JP video has received lots of attention! #fuckjuiceplus

cozietoesie · 21/02/2016 21:03

Well it's difficult to tell, crumpets. All the (many) shopping websites associated with one prominent MLM, for example, seem to link to one main shopping site where the name of the 'Business Owner' comes up differently each time. It also looks as if these 'Business Owners' are either senior managers within the prominent MLM or, in some cases, prominent personalities from one field or another who don't always appear to have direct links with it.

Sadly, I shall have to forego the endless hours of interest looking at all these aspects. Others should feel free however. Smile

Dozyoldtwonk · 21/02/2016 21:04

Long time lurker here, not an ex-bot but someone who has seen a fair few friends & family members sucked into these god awful scams schemes. I wanted to post to vent more than anything else! Why oh why do people get so sucked in, to the point where they genuinely believe they're going to be a millionaire 'one day soon, just you watch'. To the point where they have to sell their souls, air their innermost private life moments just to keep up their bullshit brand? To hassle & annoy almost everyone they know to the point where people in their droves just roll their eyes at the mere mention of what they do? I don't get it. How can these top bots be so persuasive? So manipulative? The reason it has got to me so much is as follows. . .

One particular family member of mine is a prolific bot, posting on social media tens of times a day, all the usual gimmicks like working in the garden & including stupid, amateur, unprofessional and totally pointless IMO various videos of her doing this look, her trying out that look, her explaining her story blah blah blah. She has a history of MH issues. She was at a low ebb when she joined this MLM (younique) & really believes this company has saved her life. For fucking real. Anyway, she posted a video last week that i have just seen tonight. 'The real reason I joined this Company - be prepared to get emotional'. This was following on from at least 2 other videos where she talked about her depression, her other failed attempts at carving out a career in various industries, how she has found herself with this Company etc. What has really grinded my gears about this latest video, is she is putting down & badmouthing our family - 'we were working class (true, nothing wrong with that), we couldn't afford to have much, we had to go without, I've never got on with my dad, attempted suicide 3 times, and on it goes. . .interdispersed with crocodile tears & poor little me persona. Very little of the above is true. Very little. I say that as a close family member, we grew up together and shared a childhood.

The video ends by explaining that Younique has given her a new lease of life, it has saved her life, they are all her family now, she has something to live for etc. She finishes by saying 'you just watch, I will be a millionaire, I will be able to give my family absolutely everything, they won't want for a single thing, and it will all be because of this company.'

There are now many, many comments on this video saying how much they feel for her, how much of an inspiration she is, how amazing she is to have come this far, 'you can do it'. Plus a few people have shared the video with their networks, so lots have seen it.

I'm so, irrationally angry and cross. But I also feel desperately sorry for her, because surely this isn't going to give her the riches she so desperately wants? I just want someone to give her a good talking to and persuade her to do something else with her life, and time. Will she really become as wealthy as she is hoping by doing this? She reckons she has been with Younique since the very beginning, and has about 250 people in her 'downline' (not sure if thats significant). Her next promotion will see her being two places away from the 'top of the company'. I don't want to be overly negative but I just smell bullshit all over this.

Thanks for reading (if you got this far).

it's great, if a bit harsh

Dozyoldtwonk Many thanks. On these threads we are always wanting to make contact with first-hand witnesses to the results of 'MLM' phenomenon. You are far from being alone. Can I ask you, you do know that the 'Younique' racket is linked with the 'Mormon Church'?

DayToDayShit · 21/02/2016 21:23

#Fuckjuiceplus video is absolutely brilliant and going viral.

throwingpebbles · 21/02/2016 21:32

dozy that was upsetting to read, I can only imagine how hard it is for you to witness

Willdoitinaminute · 21/02/2016 21:34

fastday I spotted a FB post about Dotcom and FL and also had a closer look. Dotcom's mission statement smacks of MLM. I would not be happy if they were to come into my DCs school, and will be making sure they don't.
It is a relatively new charity set up in 2013 and their Patron is none other than KR the strictly come dancing pro.
I assumed it was to do with online bullying but it doesn't clearly say what they do, again very MLM.
