BSintolerant Interestingly, I once worked for a short period of time for a major London auction company, but in the provinces. I was only a young guy, and the boss of the saleroom had no experience in auctioneering - he was an old school friend of the auction company's MD and he had done some trendy management courses (possibly 'Landmark Education'). I was supposed to be a trainee auctioneer, but since I'd been brought up in the world of fine arts, I was actually doing unsupervised cataloguing work.

One morning I was called into the boss's office and told that he didn't like my attitude and that I wasn't a team player. He put a blank sheet of paper in front of me and drew a line down the centre. He then told me to write down all my positive qualities on one side and all my negative qualities on the other. I told him to shove it where the sun doesn't shine and I walked out.

This episode immediately came to mind when my brother started talking about 'negative and positive mindset.' Loud alarm bells began to sound

I know this probably isn't the place for this, but if I were challenged to say one good thing about my time in MLM I would say it made me think a lot about what I really wanted in life. It wasn't fancy cars or a barn, or even a parslai patch. But there was something I wanted, and now I have it, but I did it through working and saving, not by some fantasy-land scam method. I'm not saying this wouldn't have come about if I hadn't been in a MLM, but it did focus my thoughts on it a bit.

Normal life comes as such a relief after being a bot :) And I am lucky to have my dream job where I feel I am making a REAL difference, not just peddling an idea.

thetemptationofchocolate I always think that an approriate sign to fix above the entrance of every MLM cult get together, is:

'Abandon hope all ye who enter here.'

Another quote which I think sums up 'MLM' cult adherents perfectly, is:

'None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free.'

thetemptationofchocolate · 12/02/2016 20:46

Or maybe the sign could be Mulder & Scully - Trust no-one" :)

Toobusytowee · 12/02/2016 21:17

There is a post on FB Botwatch that links to a dream/reality info sheet for helping bots see the truth. I am hoping any wavering bot reading it might start believing their instincts and get out? All the facts and info have been collected from people on these threads. I can't copy the post link because all my IT powers have been used up just creating the post.

Thanks Last! I was trying to make a link to the Bot Watch post. I don't know why I didn't just link to the new blog! My brain is spent. I'm going to attempt a post about the cult aspect of it when I am more alert and can phrase it without sounding weird and alarmist. I'm thinking of calling it a financial cult and differentiating it from the traditional religious types.

Eyespying · 12/02/2016 21:49

Toobusytowee -

'Commercial cult' and 'MLM Prosperity Gospel cult' are already established descriptions. I think Robert FitzPatrick has started to call 'MLM' groups, 'Business Opportunity cults.'

MrGrumpy01 · 12/02/2016 21:49

Good blog.

I'm going to go for this LoA business though, got my ticket on tomorrow's lottery and I'm thinking all positive and how the money is mine plus half my office and how I will spend it. Then tonight the numbers will come up.

Sorted. But don't anyone else be thinking positive I don't want to either have to share even more or be out done by someone who thought that little bit more positive than I managed.

MrGrumpy01 · 12/02/2016 21:52

Well I've blown it I can't even get the right night in my thoughts.

Banish those negative thoughts. I will win.

lastuseraccount123 · 12/02/2016 21:54

u can attract money to you just by holding it in your hands and throwing it around a bit like u have so much u just don't care. It totally works

cozietoesie · 12/02/2016 21:57

That's good. You can stand next to me and throw it around any time you like! Grin

Annie65 · 12/02/2016 21:57

Last, love the new blog Smile

BSintolerant · 12/02/2016 22:08

Eye, isn't that weird? The negative / positive list sounds like your boss was trying to suss you out in an attempt to bring you under his control. I'd have loved to have seen his face when you told him where to shove it!

It's a pity that most bots are so tired that they'll sleep through their alarms, no matter how loud they are.

thetemptation - yes, a brush with mlm schemes concentrates the mind. How many bots will be on their deathbeds (at home, in their pjs) thinking, "I wish I'd spent more of my life recruiting people and selling overpriced rubbish."

Unlimited wealth and financial freedom may be just around the corner. The same could be said of the Grim Reaper. One of these things is inevitable, whether you follow the plan or not. So use your time on this earth wisely: don't waste your life on crappy mlm schemes!

Last - that's an excellent post. I'm sure it will help the bots who are having a wobble.
