That meme makes me think of my incredibly irritating sister (who isn't in a MLM thankfully - I dread to think what she'd be like if she were). She once said to me, DH and my mum, 'I'm not going to get a job just so I can pay my bills'. She was unemployed and scrounging off my parents at the time (refusing to claim JSA because they'd tell her to get a bloody job). And she was totally serious. She then found a husband to keep her (her actual, overt plan) but it turned out that he didn't earn enough so she had to get a PT job. My mum explained to me that my sister couldn't possibly be expected to get a FT job; it would just be too much. However, I (who at the time had a FT job, a disability, two kids and was finishing off a PhD at the same time) clearly just had to get on with it, because bills don't pay themselves. (My sister had no kids and perfect health at the time). I think I'd've spontaneously combusted if she'd tried to sell me a big brush with a time of superiority about not having a j.o.b. at the time.

Thx for Norwex link. Another morning smile! (And when a grateful country turns to me for leadership, one of my first proclamations will be severe punishments for misuse of the term "system". As in "Toilet Cleaning System" instead of Toilet Brush.)

I have been to a Norwex party.

In my defence I was living in Australia and trying to make friends with the other mums. I went to anything. including 3 Tupperware parties

It involved a presentation and then we literally followed a consultant around the house as they cleaned it. I am naturally tightfisted, but my poor friend who was hosting was v. short of cash so I bought some cloths. They were OK until my husband appropriated them for his general car cleaning stuff.

They pushed their environmental credentials really heavily and told my friend whose son has autism that using fewer chemicals in her home would help with his behaviour.

They didn't try to recruit for anything but parties at the one I went to, but I know my poor friend is now (3 years later) a consultant for them.

I've already seen evidence that Norwex Bots have been taught to believe that by removing all chemicals from their homes, they can get rid all-manner of health problems, live longer, look younger, increase their mental capacity, etc.

These 'MLM' rackets can look so innocent at first glance. Years back I was warned that members of my family had joined a cult ('Amway'). I laughed out loud and said don't be daft, how can a cult be based on flogging cleaning products? If only I'd known then what I know now.

The Norwex party sounds, erm, awesome... What better than cleaning with an audience. Did you get a bog brush cleaning system demo too?

I love the fact that the Norwex bots don't seem to realise that everything is a chemical.

Maybe they need to be warned about the dangers of cleaning with dihydrogen monoxide. Vicious stuff.

Oh yes, I remember the bog demonstration! Tbh, I got a fit of the giggles and got sent moved to the back of the room as I said I found the smell of chemicals reassuring in a bathroom.

If you were having guests in your house, for a 'party', wouldn't you make sure it was fairly clean anyway? So when the bot goes round with the magic cloth, there wouldn't be much dirt about for it to clean, would there? It would be a crap demonstration.

I'm picturing the demonstrators looking like Kim & Aggie :)

It's the classic 'MLM' racket - an offer you can't refuse. Instead of threatening to cause physical harm to victims,' and/or their loved ones, and/or property (unless you keep paying for prorection), the Norwex mob persuades victims that the average home is poisoned and is going to cause harm to you and your loved ones. You're doomed unless you keep paying them for protection.

Sounds very similar to mine - saying how she worked every day this time last year and had to pay £x per day childcare and ask friends to have her DC. Presumably they're left to their own devices running riot around the house and neighborhood this time as she seems to be still working every day and evening.
