Wadingthroughsoup

It's a classic case of: 'Well they would say that, wouldn't they?'

Anyone with an ounce of common-sense can immediately deduce that all the constantly-repeated, tragicomic, scripted-claims made by 'MLM' bots to have cured themselves of, or protected themselves from, illness and poverty, etc., have ultimately been based on their false-expectation of receiving a future reward.

norbert no problem with discussing the blocking and her posts, I'm all for bot watching and calling them out on lies, it just seemed like it was just starting to get slightly personal. Just don't want to give them anything they can legitimately complain about so potential recruits know which side they should be on!

Ribbet8890 · 31/01/2016 14:59

Finally registered after reading all of the threads regarding mlms, a forever living rep approached a good friend at a time of complete emotional and financial crisis, thankfully I was able to talk her out of joining!

Something that I have not seen mention yet on the thread or as a blog post on TV, is that most bots will probably not have thought of getting themselves Product liability insurance which is protection for people who resell /distribute products and do they have public liability insurance? If they are entering peoples homes or other premises for selling, or having people at their house, they should have public liability insurance?

Whilst it is not illegal are the bots aware of the risks involved?

xenu1 · 31/01/2016 15:01

Good one stopfaffing!

"Order swapping" looks like a way to get round the "ibos-must-sell-to-outside-customers" rule that was part of the Amway investigation and the reason Amway was not declared an illegal pyramid scheme. (Not that rule was ever enforced of course :( )

cozietoesie · 31/01/2016 15:02

I doubt they're given enough time to be aware of much at all, Ribbet. 'Keep 'em moving' seems to be the watchword.

Motorheadmum · 31/01/2016 15:07

Eyespying thank you, once I realised what was going on I then became determined to get my money back, I helped the lady who actually got the up line to recruit me to get hers and another 2. Arbonne then removed the whole region from the Arbonne program. There were a lot of people who didn't like me as I exposed what they were doing but they were deliberately conning people especially when I had said just over 12 hours later I didn't want to do it!

Wadingthroughsoup thank you :) I am normally pretty savvy it was just me on a very vulnerable time.

I have had a FL bot try to tell me that the Aloe Gel has worked wonders with her Fibro...

Ribbet8890 · 31/01/2016 15:11

www.cap.org.uk/Advertising-Codes/Non-Broadcast.aspx full code for advertising on social media here.

also wonder if bots are aware that if they are selling and collecting orders they have to abide by the distant selling rules

does the cleanse9 marketing or marketing by individual bots fall foul of this? whilst they are becoming more aware of making medical claims, weight management claims are also regulated.

Motorheadmum The classic ego-protecting reaction to the cult phenomenon is: 'only fools and weaklings join cults' or 'I'm certain no one in my family would ever join a cult.' In fact, before I saw members of my family undergo sudden radical personality transformations, triggered by 'Amway,' I would have laughed at anyone suggesting that this was possible.

As you have bravely explained, absolutely anyone can start to fall for this form of 'commercially' disguised, cultic racketeering, because everyone has times of vulnerability.

darcey I suspect that is becuase you do an honest and respectable job which you would have worked damn hard to qualify for.

Motorheadmum · 31/01/2016 16:45

Eyespying totally agree there. There are a few arbots still on my Facebook and I see all the rubbish they spout. So many of them have their family involved.

Surely there must be some sort of notice period for all these bots who having #sackedtheboss to start their own business are now jumping to a different ship……..*wonders how you #sackyourself ;)

kamchatka23 · 31/01/2016 17:41

My FL bots team leader cooked beans on toast for her team the other day, but my bot wasn't invited as she's out of favour.

Hello. Have followed these threads since the beginning of last year after I was sent a random text from a toddler group acquaintance inviting me to a webinar for Juice Plus. Was most perplexed so looked it up and found all this excellent MN info and advice. I didn't join the webinar!

They approached again whilst me and my child had stinking colds, offering some "nutritional advice" and have at various times tried to strike up conversations about returning to work and the problems that might involve / whether I'm happy !! All very transparent and all met with a WTF face. They've given up with me but I've seen the cynical trawling and manipulation of toddler groups etc and I've kept up with the various FB nonsense.

However toward the end of last year there was a mass exodus of the JP bots from a particular group, with a lot of local members, to Ariix led by the very top of their pyramid group. Not that it's ever called Ariix - instead it's the Opportunity Company with a creepy double infinity logo. And instead of powders and magic beans, it's drops and water filters (and some sort of air purifierConfused)
I know that one of the upline made a big deal out of explaining that they would have liked to continue with JP whilst persuing this new Opportunity but weren't allowed by the JP company. As far as I can make out the Ariix bots can concentrate on specific products in the range and build a team around them rather than all the bots trying to sell the same stuff to the same people. Or something Grin

I hadn't realised that quite often the big name MLM names they go and get hypnotised trained by at these big venues are addressing more than one MLM company at a time. No wonder they all spout the same nonsense across SM.

It is all fascinating and horrifying and I'll add my voice to those wondering why there has never been any mainstream exposure of these practices?

LikeBigBotsAndICannotLie · 31/01/2016 18:14

Well, For a very long time I was hated on for my profession. I worked for HMRC and started my own business during that time using experience I gained from my main job. I was born with and have suffered from chronic kidney disease all my life. I became ill after having my son eight years ago and after investigations found that during a routine out-patient op as a child I contracted MRSA (I had been in hospital about a year with a spinal infection at age 12)

We had no idea. Sadly, it was discovered my spine never healed and I had end stage Osteoarthritis, Spinal Stenosis and four bulging discs. Because of the time until diagnosis, it is beyond surgery and I have only pain relief. Possibly because of the meds, I have had five episodes of kidney failure, two resulting in coma in the past six years. I have now as of last year retired medically from work as the stress was causing hospital stays and infections. I had to stop my online business as well.

I mention this to give you some background about me and why I would go absolutely fucking mental if approached about juice plus, herbalife, or fl re medical claims. I would also go to fucking town on any Younique 'presenter' who claims their make up is on par with Mac and Bare Minerals. My online business was branded cosmetics - Estee Lauder, Clinique, Bare Minerals, Clarins ie proper brands with years of research behind them. I was a top rated seller right from the start and kept that status, we sold branded products at drug store prices. That was our goal, to beat the rip-off Britain culture. I welcome any of them to come at me. Tell me how 'empowering' and fab your shit is.

Eyespying · 31/01/2016 18:15

prettyusefulsometimes Thats vey interesting information. Many thanks.

If you think as these groups as (Prosperity Gospel) Churches/cults, you realise that the fake 'MLM' message of salvation and the step-by-step pay-through-the-nose 'plan' to achieve it, is always essentially the same. Hence, the most convincing perverted preachers can peddle their bullshit to any 'MLM' congregation.

Your question about the mainstream media failing to expose this massive scandal, is one that I've been asking for 20 years. Don't forget that, with a few notable exceptions who were largely ignored, mainstream journalists also failed to warn the world about the: Madoff fraud, liar loans, Jimmy Savile, etc. etc., until well after the event.
