Still continuing the discussion of the various network marketing schemes or multi-level marketing schemes (MLMs) that people we know are involved in.

If you have an MLM bot of your own then join us and share their claims and content.

Or if you are researching a company before signing up to be a network marketer please take a look at the previous threads here and here and also this thread which delves deeper into the workings of MLMs.

And don't forget our very own MN MLM Timeless Vie!

Grin

Surely people must realise someone who posts constant species and pictures of their office etc would be the first to put up a picture of them heading out looking glam in a glam location!!!!

And did you notice she's turned off the location bit on FB, I'm totally suspicious now!

acatcalledjohn · 01/01/2016 12:26

Happy New Year fellow bot hunters!

I'm waiting for the Clean 9 push which I'm sure will start soon...

LittleMissStubborn · 01/01/2016 12:46

I got half way through and gave up.

Do the children really get a guaranteed income or is this just another myth?

CheekySmile · 01/01/2016 12:58

The children can take over the business littlemiss but they would still need to do their 4CCs each month to stay active and receive their bonuses. It's not like they just get to sit back and watch the money roll in, despite what the bots want us to believe.

Its a crock of shite. You are more likely to go bankrupt, I reckon. All the things you are told to do which make good financial sense, the bots seem to me to be doing the opposite. I mean, renting when you've just been given the opportunity to buy, not just renting, but renting somewhere more expensive and bigger with bigger bills, more petrol bills ( because its in thr back of beyond). Dont you pay a lot more tax if you get a leasehold car for work? I even have friends who turned down a company car because it just cost too much in tax. Its opposite land, by spending more, you are obviously minimising residual income, not creating it.

LittleMissStubborn · 01/01/2016 13:10

They do write it like that though, don't they. Anyway surely most people want their children to make their own paths in life.

sminkypink · 01/01/2016 13:11

I compare them to my brother who actually does have a six figure income. (Think its quite a bit more now). He works in an office, Monday to Friday.... you know the sort of thing the bots laugh at.
Hes concentrating on paying off his mortgage in full and saving up before the kids leave school and start uni because that is gonna be expensive, obviously. They have one car, just got rid of one and never go abroad on holiday. Hes very, very, well off obviously, but hes simply making sure his familys future is safe by not taking advice from aloe idiot 'business' mentors.

sminkypink · 01/01/2016 13:16

Does anyone know anything about these wills that FL get the bots to write, that wills the business to their kids? That they are actually getting 'financial advice' from these crooks?

bettyberry · 01/01/2016 13:16

Its a bugger twitter, FB and instagram strip away the exif data of photos because that info makes it so so much easier to see the location, camera/phone model of images taken etc etc and to tell if they are lying.

Esp if the pics are taken with eg an iphone, samsung and a nikon camera. Its unlikely for many people.

Also find it funny that these bots go to 'events' and parties but are only ever tagged in pics from FL success days or training days...

CheekySmile · 01/01/2016 13:56

A great blog post here about Younique

Good blog with the usual smatterings of 'you are all jealous' and 'you only failed because you didn't try hard enough'

Willdoitinaminute · 01/01/2016 15:01

Small amount of digging and I've found out yellow field bot actually rented out her old three bed semi when they couldn't sell it and rents the 'country mansion' she now lives in. Having recently changed mortgage and being self employed I know how cautious lenders are at the moment so would be very surprised if they would lend to an MLM sub company.
I do know a few people who, in order to impress, rent big pads as it is much cheaper than a mortgage at that end of the market. It also means you can move on a wim very easily. I suppose it is sensible to have the original house if it all goes tits up.

stopfaffing · 01/01/2016 15:29

I interesting link, Cheeky.

Particularly like this bit, from the replies at the end of the article:-

Harvard 'B' School professor Thomas Bonora recently said in an article in Marketing News:

We do not teach such methods [MLM] at the Harvard Business School; they are not part of the curriculum; to my knowledge, they are not taught at this or any other reputable business school in the country . . . Multi-Level Marketing schemes, like chain letters and other devices, sometimes are at the borderline of what is legal -- and over the borderline of what is ethical . . .

I hadn't thought of the MLM business model being taught, or not, at business schools. Interesting.

Sairelou · 01/01/2016 15:55

Oooo bot spot! A FL bot just posted an ad on a breastfeeding FB group I am on. I won't post the photo, but suffice to say she got promptly shut down. Before admin deleted the post she was back peddling by saying she was only advertising the gel for stretch marks and bee pollen (which isn't advised if breastfeeding). Honestly is nowhere safe from them? Hmm

sminkypink · 01/01/2016 16:03

I think it could be useful to prepare a list of 'questions' to ponder on, like this on, for people to ask themselves, when considering joining an mlm scheme. Thats a great one, isn't it?
If mlm is so profitable, why is it not taught in the best business schools?
Can we think of more?
If mlm is so profitable, why do people doing mlm pretend they are going on holidays and post fake statuses and photos on Facebook?
If mlm is so great.....

Willdoitinaminute Yes, got very little chance of buying if you are newly self employed, so its not surprising that the bot properties are rented, they couldn't get a mortgage. But not only properties, someone was talking about their bot having a second hand clapped out motor, yet showing up to sales events in an Audi, that then seemed to vanish afterwards. We have zipcar in London. We're considering joining it when our car gives up the ghost. You can rent cars by the day or the hour. Its very good value. It can be cheaper than owning, I did the sums and it would be for us. There are five zipcars near us - two vw golfs, a big transit, a small van.......and a really flashy Audi.

sminkypink · 01/01/2016 16:04

Whoops that was meant to be bold not crossed out!

stopfaffing · 01/01/2016 16:13

If MLMs are so great, why do the people promoting them post lies about buying castles/barns/property with the money they have "made"?

CheekySmile · 01/01/2016 16:31

Well it seems there is one tiny community college in Kansas that does offer a degree in MLM according to this Time article Confused

Further analysis on a very interesting blog here

stopfaffing because they keep having to build their businesses in order to get paid. Everything resets for Chairmans bonus today, so they start over again with 0cc's and have to build up to 1500cc's to achieve their holiday for next year.

Plus they're always networking so always adding their prospects on fb who will be watching what they're doing.

I'm really looking forward to year end to see how some of the businesses have really done.

stopfaffing · 01/01/2016 17:47

Thanks for those links, Cheeky.

That second link has another here which is also fascinating.
