Hope this will make it clearer for you of for example you earn £9000 a year then the sum you need to.do.is as follows
9000 - 3850 = 5150 ÷ 100 × 48 = 2472

So £2472 would be the amount to take of your total yearly amount or about £47.50 a week worse off.

That is based on a taper of 48p in a pound. However I am unsure of whether the taper amount will change if your income is unchanged

MissE84 · 08/07/2015 15:10

12fedup12, that's a lot omg.

12fedup12 · 08/07/2015 15:13

I know. Do your sums now though so you are prepared for next April

efergie82 · 08/07/2015 15:24

mines 2648 taking into account wage rise to 7.20

efergie82 · 08/07/2015 15:27

Is it coming off wtc or ctc or overall all benifits like hb and ctb

jonny82 · 08/07/2015 15:29

I'm sure thats the amount they taper off IF your income goes up, so if yourincome goes up it will be by the 48p per pound.

12fedup12 · 08/07/2015 15:30

It's a lot isn't efergie, but at least working it out now we are fully prepared and won't be as big as shock when it happens

12fedup12 · 08/07/2015 15:32

That's for the work and child tax credits.

I ain't sure how they are working out the taper so just to be on safe side that's why i am working out it out at the 48p rate then if it is 41p then will have a little bit extra

jonny82 · 08/07/2015 15:47

Well I don't know but I'm sure your claim won't change that much unless you get a pay rise.

I might be wrong but I'm sure the taper is for income rises not to be taken off your claim now or in April.

12fedup12 · 08/07/2015 15:54

I hope your right Jonny.

ddigital · 08/07/2015 16:07

So Happy and Relieved! Just got a letter from HMRC/Concentrix dated 2nd July today (Got delivered to wrong house/road). Case closed no changes.

My claim is WTC self employment 16 hours/disabled. I supplied all my sales records beyond the period they asked for, my accounts, my tax return, a 25 page bank statement. A Complaint letter. A Cover Letter, Details/Proof of my Disability (DLA) and Illness, my low earning NI exemptions for the past 3 years. Renewed my claim in April, got letter from Concentrix May 30th. Now just waiting for award notice. Such a relief on my health and mind.

jonny82 · 08/07/2015 16:07

I think so because the current taper is 41p so that means you lose 41p per pound of your tax credits if your income goes up, with the change today that 41p changes to 48p so you lose your tax credits quicker , that's what I think that is.

Scousejo1967 · 08/07/2015 16:18

I thought it was just for child tax credit . I'm
So
Confused by whole thing

alexa15 · 08/07/2015 16:23

Couldnt wait any longer..so im on the phone again..my docs were signed for on 9th so surely they are scanned on system now!! Zolabud81 if yours are on then surely mine will be?!!

jonny82 · 08/07/2015 16:31

Mine were signed for on 10th June so please let me know how u get on Alexa.

12fedup12 · 08/07/2015 16:31

Good luck alexa

jonny82 · 08/07/2015 16:33

I'm confused by all these cuts.

Limiting to 2 children, I'm sure thats for new claims from 2017. I'm confused as they don't really go into much detail as to what actually they have done and how it affects current claimants.

alexa15 · 08/07/2015 16:34

Will do jonny82..cheers 12fedup12..getting bored of all this now..its beyond a bloody joke! Got a really rude bloke on phone last time..didnt want to answer my questions or look on computer! Just hope i get someone decent this time.only been on hold 16 mins..so im in for quite a wait.z?zzzz

jonny82 · 08/07/2015 16:34

To be honest I think George Osbourne has shafted us all right up the arse!

12fedup12 · 08/07/2015 16:37

Think that's what they wanted to confuse us.

From what I can work out the child limit is for new claimants And new babies born from April 2017 Confused

I only have two children and no plans to have anymore so won't be affected by the child limit

smokie19 · 08/07/2015 16:37

its for new claims johney, doesnt effect if claiming befor i dnt think

alexa15 · 08/07/2015 16:48

32mins..stillllll on hold

Mel25murf · 08/07/2015 16:52

I thought it worked like this:-

I don't claim childcare, so not 100% sure how that works, but I don't think it would be affected unless you now earn over the threshold to claim childcare costs!

Although what I have managed to work out with the reduction threshold being lowered from £6420 to £3850, it means that if your income was £15000 then it would work like this:-

15000- 6420 =8580( figure used for reduction by 41p per £1 previously) so,

8580x41%= £3517.80- this is how much your claim would have been reduced by previously.

Now it will be 15000-3850= 11150( figure used for reduction by 41p per £1) so.

11150x41%=£ 4571.50 would be the figure tax credits are reduced.

So a loss of 4571.50-3517.80 = £1053.70

I THINK I've deduced that correctly, if I haven't I am sure someone will correct me!

12fedup12 · 08/07/2015 16:57

Looks right to me Mel, with the new threshold would be £1053.70 a year worse off

alexa15 · 08/07/2015 17:00

What shall i say on the phone this time? Cos everytime i ring i just get fobbed off with the same old crap
