Got me stuff back on Friday Morgan two weeks after sending it.They said they will write to me shortly about my tax credit claim.A close friend lives with me as I can't leave my son alone in the house while I work.i pay all my own rent and bills and everything in my name but don't know if this will be enough.Without this thread would have lost the plot over this been three weeks of hell and now every day waiting for their reply.

charlie4556 · 09/02/2015 09:52

swlady01 thank you for rreplying. I will be telling them I'm taking it further I just can't believe they have the power to stop my claim with Touch of a button! If they were properly trained they would have asked me the correct questions to determine whether I should me making a joint claim. No questions were asked except will he be there for the foreseeable future? My reply well I don't know! I should have explained my situation Better on the first call. But I was just in such a panic! By the time I called back to make them.understand that we are.not a couple they had already ended my claim!

pepsi123 · 09/02/2015 10:05

God Charlie4556 that's so bad. They just don't care what they put people through do they.Hang in there and keep battling them.

SWLady01 · 09/02/2015 10:07

charlie4556 they would have ticked the 'sorted' box as soon as you mentioned your ex. Remember they have targets to meet and so would be delighted to be able to cross you off their books.

You could also insist on speaking to a manager at Concentrix, to see if that works.

Good luck, and let us know how you get on.

charlie4556 · 09/02/2015 10:21

Thank you for replying I just want this to be over its been the worst 4 Week of my life. I will let you all know the outcome whenever I hear from them

Don't understand why they can't send their decision when they send the stuff back.

PausingFlatly · 09/02/2015 10:46

charlie really sorry to hear about this.

I second the advice above about going to your MP.

I'd suggest that you don't do anything on the phone with Concentrix - it's too easy for them to lie.

Write to them (keep a copy), and send it recorded delivery, setting out what very clearly has happened.

So
"On DATE I received your letter suggesting I was living with a partner.
On DATE I called you and informed you that I had no such partner, and that my ex-partner visited over Christmas to see his children. I told you that I am not in a relationship with him, and he does not live here.
You instructed me to send in BLAH documents which you believe prove I live alone. I sent these on DATE."
etc
"On DATE I discovered you had stopped my tax credits.
This is clearly a wrong decision. Please tell me immediately what you will be doing to correct this decision. I will be discussing your behaviour with my MP next week, and would like your answer by then. "

SWLady01 · 09/02/2015 10:55

PausingFlatly - that is very good advice :-)

charlie4556 · 09/02/2015 11:29

Thank you Pausingflatly do u think I should. Write to them just now or wait till I hear from them?

PausingFlatly · 09/02/2015 11:34

Write to them now. You could be waiting a long time.Sad

Also, it can be important to get a "straight version" of what happened down on paper, so you can point to it and say, "Do you disagree with this?" if they try to get into he-said-she-said later on.

SWLady01 · 09/02/2015 12:08

Yes, I think it's a good idea to write to them now, even if you do decide to also see the MP (and you can give him a copy of the letter too). Important they have something in writing.

Maybe you can find out who is in charge at that dept. at Concentrix and address it to them?

bar22222 · 09/02/2015 12:41

It is already quite sad about being single parent. It is quite difficult to be alone responsible for everything. And instead to really help to children who don´t have a complete family, government freak out mums, making you feel as criminal. I prefer that government introduces a school buses that help me to send a child to school and go to work, creates more jobs and regulates prices. Only for electricity I pay more than £100 a month during winter time and still we worn a jackets at home. I leave in wet and smelly flat, trying to do my best and now I have being accused to hide a partner inside of my smelly flat. And to prove that there is no a partner under my bed, I have to pay £5 for the copy of bank statements, £7 for copy of bills, around £5 for printer, around £5 for postage. This is ridiculous!

bar22222 · 09/02/2015 12:44

How much money will be spend to this stupid check? But if someone really wants to hide their relation its not way to prove it.

Pen01 · 09/02/2015 15:32

I contacted the Daily Telegraph and spoke to a Nicky Harley last week with whom I had high hopes, but I haven't as yet heard anything back. The phone number is 0207 931 3533. Or phone the general line 020 7931 2000.

I also contacted the Lib Dems who concern themselves with privacy laws but it seems that noone is interested.

joy1968 · 09/02/2015 18:05

Hi i'm new to this site and thought i would add to this discussion. I have had the same letter as all of you above. When i rang Concentrix i couldn't even get through the security questions they asked me. In frustration i decided to ring HMRC direct and vent my anger onto them. I was advised to ring Concentrix back, demand to speak to a line manager and put a formal complaint in against this so called company. The reason i was unable to get through the security questions was because their system is totally screwed and they hadn't even got the correct information on me. I have 4 children, but they had me down as having only 3?....anyway to cut a long story short i have sent all the information they asked for, even though i was very reluctant to send bank statements in,but i did never the less. I have no idea who the other adult is,and they have not got a bit of evidence against me so its a load of bull!!!. They are just going to look through all 40 pages of my statements just to be damn nosey as far as i'm concerned. I i have also wrote a covering letter and want a apology for causing stress and alarm. I have nothing to hide and have never lived with anyone since i split with my ex 11 years ago,so they can kiss my rear end!!

carley24 · 09/02/2015 18:33

I too had this letter dated 16th january sent all my paperwork off few days after as nothing to hide just could do without this hassle sent paperwork back last week saying they will write to me shortly has anyone had a reply or theres been dealt with?

Redhead11 · 09/02/2015 18:46

I contacted the BBC about it this morning, and as yet have heard nothing back. I am going to post my documents tomorrow registered post and enclose a letter stating that if this is not sorted out very quickly indeed, I will be taking it further with them and that i am also writing to my MP and MSP to alert them to this. I am also going to write to HMRC and complain to them, also registered post, and while i am at it, point out to them for about the 10th time (literally) that i am no longer self-employed and will they please stop sending me letters demanding that i pay my own NI! I have been doing this for 4 years, every few months and am at boiling point with the whole bloody lot! Even if my hours do increase and i become eligible for WTC, i doubt if i will re-apply, as it isn't worth the hassle for the measily few quid I got each month.

Karo3161 · 09/02/2015 18:48

Sent mine in last week - what they asked for in a phone call not what was in the letter - it was signed for last Wednesday but not heard anything yet. A little concerned they are returning paperwork without a decision; does this mean all our private lives are sitting photocopied on a file while they think about it?

What particularly annoys me (and much about this does) is they are asking for information that was never part of the original deal.

charlie4556 · 09/02/2015 18:48

It's funny how some people.have said that they won't release the supposed other adult due to data protection. The man I spoke to told me this other adults name without me even asking! I think they just make stuff up as they go along tbh I don't don't think they have a proper strategy to deal with this atall. Cannot believe the amount of single mothers the are trying to f##k over over!!! ITs apparently not normal or Ok to be single and independent these days!! Hate this country and the government Angry

pauldevon · 09/02/2015 19:12

hi
Thanks for letting me join the forum

Have the same accusation levelled at me - "we have evidence ..another adult "
Interestingly , the return slip that I'm asked to attach to my documents
has someone else's reference , name ,and NI number .
Have suggested to concentrix that they apologise and attempt to reassure me of their data protection protocols before I post bank statements to them.

joy1968 · 09/02/2015 19:34

Poorly trained staff,on minimum wage who are answering phone calls, and they have no answers to the questions they are being bombarded with from totally confused single parents. They will make a killing out of the thousands of letters they have sent out,as they are after the the claimants who defrauding tax credits.....but there are lots who are genuine, and its causing a huge amount to those who totally depend on T/C to feed and clothe their children. I think i will refer to myself as collateral damage when i call them next,as that is exactly what most of us are. Concentrix is a shambles, and only interested in targets. Sometime in the future i think we will be reading in the media about this company and its unhanded methods.

SWLady01 · 09/02/2015 19:35

pauldevon, I didn't have a return slip to send back?

joy1968 · 09/02/2015 19:35

amount of stress*

joy1968 · 09/02/2015 19:38

SWlady01 there was a returns letter with your "case" number and name on it.
