Hello everyone and welcome to the new thread for Round Two!

To recap, the basic rules are:
No chicklit
No abuse memoir type stuff
No horror
No hardbacks

Auto/biography is allowed as long as it?s not anything too obscure (or crap, obviously).

Chocolate to the value of about £2 each time.

Here is the list:
artifarti
aristocat
Dysgu
PistachioLemon
TheBuggerofSuburbia
stickylittlefingers
AgentProvocateur
LolaLadyBird
Itsjustafleshwound
pooter
muddleduck
LadyBee
FlyingMonkey
Maria2007
johnworf

johnworf is a new member so be nice!

As before, please email me at artifarti at hotmail dot co dot uk with the initials of your chosen book and author (e.g. ROTN by TH for Return of the Native by Thomas Hardy) so I can check there are no duplicates. I will assume all your name, address and chocolate details remain the same unless you tell me otherwise (johnworf, please send me yours)

Please do this on or before July 10th. Then I will email you all with the name of the new person you are to post the books to (we are reversing, for anyone that hasn't picked that up.)

No-one has indicated that they want to drop out so I am assuming not at the moment.
I have now read all the books so I am thinking about which was my favourite - so many good ones, a difficult choice.

Come on come on...

aristocat · 23/07/2010 22:01

well......who had best book?

pleeeeeease

artifarti · 23/07/2010 22:21

Sorry, didn't mean to be quite so mysterious - I started watching a film and forgot!

Well, the winner is...

Any Human Heart by William Boyd, which was FlyingMonkey's choice!

(And for anyone who liked this one, I have just finished Brazzaville Beach by the same author, which was also a cracker).

Congrats FM!

Let the new battle commence...

OP posts:
aristocat · 23/07/2010 23:14

oooooh well done FlyingMonkey

i loved your book - no pressure on you then!

Dysgu · 23/07/2010 23:32

Well done FlyingMonkey - although I just had to check the book on Amazon not sure if I actually managed to read the whole thing! have added it to my list of books that I SHOULD read!

Very unsure about my next choice - I think it is a great book bit very different from anything that came round this time. Still, I argue that we are all in it to try different books, and at least my next choice will not take long in reading!

So, will be buying chocolate aristocat and posting in the next few days; will endeavour to do better than last time and post in time.

Ladybee sorry to read your sad news. I hope you are being looked after and looking after yourself.

FlyingMonkey · 25/07/2010 14:06

Oh, that's very exciting! I never win anything I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'm sorry that I won't be taking part in the next round but maybe I'll return for the one after (if I'm allowed).

Ladybee, so sorry to hear you news. Take care of yourself x

LadyBee · 25/07/2010 15:04

Thanks all.
FlyingMonkey, I have your book now - bizarrely, in all my crapness with reading last year, this book was one that I bought and actually read that wasn't part of the swap! I had to chuckle when it turned up in the post the other week. I'll send it back to you as soon as I feel fit to leave the house.

PistachioLemon · 27/07/2010 10:12

SLF I got the book and the scrummy chocolate, thank you!

Ladybee I'm so sorry to hear your news.

artifarti · 27/07/2010 19:53

aristocat - book and choc received, thanks, and both look great.

Is everyone on track? Some people haven't posted for a while so do pop in and say hello (especially you new ones!) just so I know we are all still up for posting on August 1 (or before for the very efficient amongst us )

OP posts:
AgentProvocateur · 27/07/2010 22:42

Yes, I've posted to StickyLittleFingers (although I think she's gone on holiday). Looking forward to receiving from Pooter.

aristocat · 27/07/2010 22:59

arti glad it got there ok.
cant wait to start it all again

muddleduck · 28/07/2010 13:04

Hi all.

Congrats to FM on her winning book. This was the last-but-one for me and I had to change by vote to it as I loved it so much. (Sorry Pooter - yours had my vote before I read this one.)

FlyingMonkey - do you have any other top books that you can recommend to those of us who have wimped out of the next round?

Maria2007loveshersleep · 28/07/2010 17:01

I loved 'any human heart', was my number 2 choice after 'cat's eye'... Congrats to FlyingMonkey

Will be sending last book tomorrow & will also send my new august book on august 1.

This was just to say 'hi' to everyone really .

muddleduck · 28/07/2010 19:26

glad to see my book got at least one vote Maria

LadyBee - I'll be posting yours tomorrow. The choc will be a bit rubbish as I will have to buy in the village. I'm a bit relieved to hear that you'd read FM's book. Given how late I posted it you'd never have finished in time

feel a bit sad now that I've finished my last book...

johnworf · 29/07/2010 10:34

Hi ladies,

sorry not posted for a while

I'll be sending off my first book either today or tomorrow as we're off on holiday coming Monday. I'm looking forward to seeing the one sent to me when I get back

ciao for now!

Dysgu · 29/07/2010 13:06

aristocat will buy the chocolate and post tomorrow - hope it reaches you before your holiday. Is a curious choice, to be honest, just thought I would 'put it out there' and see what people think!

Always an exciting time - I tend to forget that the start of the month means book swap and get VERY excited when a parcel arrives for me and then hey..... it's chocolate and a book!

Looking forward to seeing what the first one my way is.

aristocat · 29/07/2010 16:02

thanks Dysgu it will be strange at first receiving from you instead of sending to you.
looking forward to it, will take away with me if i can

artifarti · 31/07/2010 12:07

RespecttheDoughnut - posted your parcel this morning.

Don't forget to start a new thread for your book. For those of you are new - we set up a thread for each book so people can discuss it. Try not to put a plot spoiler in the first post! I have done one for my new book.

OP posts:
pooter · 02/08/2010 10:42

Agent - sent yours off this morning - hope you like it.

Muddleduck - please can i keep cats eye just a little longer as i haven't started finished it yet?

FlyingMonkey · 02/08/2010 13:24

Muddleduck, your book was my first choice!

My choice for this round was going to be Waterland by Graham Swift. I haven't read it for years but I did love it at the time.

Anyway, had my 12 week scan today and all's well. I'm bowing out of this round while I grapple with morning sickness and a very active 1 year old. Enjoy the next round ladies and maybe see you for the next one.

AgentProvocateur · 02/08/2010 20:17

Thanks Pooter, I'll get it later in the week, because DH gave me a huge surprise this morning - we are going away for a few nights tomorrow to somewhere that needs a passport!!

I've no idea where. He says it will be hot and exciting, and I won't need a swimming cossie. We'll be back by Sunday, because we need to collect the DC from camp, so I will report back.

aristocat · 03/08/2010 14:48

Dysgu book and chocolate received today Thank You

artifarti · 03/08/2010 15:06

Lucky you AgentP (my money is on Morocco!) My DP is also is my good books as he is working away at the moment but came back as a surprise last night to help me out as DS is ill (with the ominously-named Hand, Foot and Mouth disease!) and I am frantically trying to keep up with work from home.

Is everyone sending and receiving okay?

OP posts:
Maria2007loveshersleep · 04/08/2010 14:40

Hi everyone, have received my book & choc (many thanks JohnWorf!) & have also posted book & choc: LadyBee should have received it today or will tomorrow (sorry for the slight delay, no excuse I just forgot 2 days ago). Really exciting to be starting a new book swap!

RespectTheDoughnut · 05/08/2010 19:53

Hi everyone Sorry I've been a bit absent - busy, busy, busy. Anyway, I've posted my book to chandellina today (I know, it was a bit late ) but it should be there tomorrow. I've posted a thread for it, too.

artifarti - your parcel (I imagine!) arrived on Monday, but I wasn't in to accept it, so I'm having it redelivered on Saturday. It's exciting
