Hello everyone and welcome to the new thread for Round Two!

To recap, the basic rules are:
No chicklit
No abuse memoir type stuff
No horror
No hardbacks

Auto/biography is allowed as long as it?s not anything too obscure (or crap, obviously).

Chocolate to the value of about £2 each time.

Here is the list:
artifarti
aristocat
Dysgu
PistachioLemon
TheBuggerofSuburbia
stickylittlefingers
AgentProvocateur
LolaLadyBird
Itsjustafleshwound
pooter
muddleduck
LadyBee
FlyingMonkey
Maria2007
johnworf

johnworf is a new member so be nice!

As before, please email me at artifarti at hotmail dot co dot uk with the initials of your chosen book and author (e.g. ROTN by TH for Return of the Native by Thomas Hardy) so I can check there are no duplicates. I will assume all your name, address and chocolate details remain the same unless you tell me otherwise (johnworf, please send me yours)

Please do this on or before July 10th. Then I will email you all with the name of the new person you are to post the books to (we are reversing, for anyone that hasn't picked that up.)

No-one has indicated that they want to drop out so I am assuming not at the moment.
I have now read all the books so I am thinking about which was my favourite - so many good ones, a difficult choice.

pooter - I'm sure you are very very fragrant. I'm thinking freesias (I'm feeling guilty!)

dysgu - do not fear, choc will be winging its way to you just as soon as I dig myself out of this snowdrift when I get to work on Monday. Dreadful to think of someone being chocolateless in this weather.

We had such a nice day today, playing out in the snow this morning and watching (or in my case, snoozing in front of) Harry Potter this afternoon. Snow is so brilliant when you don't have to get to work! I feel a bit like we're buried in a Bilbo Baggins burrow :)

AgentProvocateur · 28/11/2010 13:42

Well, it's thick, thick snow here, so I'm just going back to bed to finish this month's book - it's another biggie.

pooter, it would make more sense for me just to buy Chandelina's missing book, then send it to slf at the start of Jan, as usual.

Otherwise, you'll be buying it, not reading it, then posting it. If someone can let me know what it is, I'll replace it and keep the circle going.

Happy snowman building, all you mums with small children.

Dysgu · 28/11/2010 23:37

I too am happy to buy a copy of whatever book I was due to receive from PistachioLemon at the beginning of November - apart from the fact that I am not sure whose book it was/is?

And, apart from a smattering of snow over the weekend - just enough to get the kids excited at even the possibility of schools closing - we are sitting at freezing point and there is no white stuff around!

It has been my birthday today though - so, as I bought LOADS of biscuits to take to school/work tomorrow, we treated ourselves to a box too - chocolate biscuits now seem to be VERY popular with my two girls!

Hope all of you who have snow are enjoying it and coping with the cold!

stickylittlefingers · 29/11/2010 06:48

hello (head emerges from snowdrift) - I'm only on because I'm trying to find out about trains and schools this morning... so much snow! Extremely pretty, tho - there's no wind so it's all settled in a thick blanket and all along the tree branches.

Anything to do with chocolate is good for my girls too, Dysgu. We were making chocolate crispies yesterday afternoon, and I think some of the mixture actually made it into the paper cases...Grin

Go carefully all of you coping with the snow this morning...

AgentProvocateur · 29/11/2010 20:21

SLF posted your book and choccie today. Good job I did - the journey home from work that normally takes 20 minutes has taken 2 hours, and I abandoned my car and walked the last mile. Don't think I'll be going into work tomorrow.

Hope you've done your Christmas shopping - the book's got over 700 pages. Happy reading.

stickylittlefingers · 29/11/2010 23:32

Shock 700 pages!!! Wow. 2 hours commute sounds horrendous - bet you were pleased to get back in.

I ended up not going to work today, the schools were shut and the trains were mad, so I worked from home - but no post office here, sorry Dysgu. Hoping to make it in tomorrow. The school is closed again tomorrow, though. Hmm I hate indecision!!

I hope the post gets through tomorrow, I'm going to need to get going - and I need to be going to work to get my reading time too!

pooter · 29/11/2010 23:45

wowzers - you are all having very interesting weather. East Anglia is its usual dull self! Not that i'm complaining as we move house to the Midlands on Wednesday, so dull weather is fine by me! And if anyone else refers to the Midlands as "up north" they may well find a map of the British Isles stuck up their bottoms Shock.

slf im almost jealous that you have those 700 pages to read - i loved that one!

Dysgu · 30/11/2010 01:01

Pooter the West Midlands IS up north from where I am - but so is East Anglia and almost everywhere else in the country!

SLF don't worry about when you get to the post office... and liking the idea of the chocolate crispy cakes. I might have to buy some rice crispies tomorrow just so we have some in the cupboard in case some snow does head this way.

So far just a very cold wind blowing in over the sea and lots of kids getting their hopes up that some snow will come. Personally, I am happy for it to stay away although almost everywhere here is walkable if need be!

aristocat · 30/11/2010 13:26

pooter are you coming closer to me? i am in the West Mids Smile and we have about an inch of snow today ...... not enough for schools to be closed but enough to excite DCs

stickylittlefingers · 30/11/2010 13:41

no post today :(, but can't complain since I'm still here too, so can't expect postie to be fighting his/her way through! [whines] I want my book...

Pooter - the north is a state of mind. When I lived far south, Birmingham seemed quite northerly. Now I'm Proper Northern, like, nothing south of York counts.

I am quite amused by how now the snow has come down to the South East it is now officially Snow and A Problem. Presumably Scotland would just be used to it, and since we're all down't Pit in the North East we haven't even noticed Grin. I shouldn't listen to R4 weather, serves me right.

Do you ever get snow Dysgu? I seem to remember once seeing a report that "even the Scillies" had snow once, so presumably it must happen with you sometimes?

AgentProvocateur · 30/11/2010 20:58

No, I'm in the North - the rest of you are all southerners to me! Wink

So, what's the plan for tomorrow's posting? Pooter do you have a book to post to me, or is that the one that's MIA?

AgentProvocateur · 30/11/2010 21:03

arti can you tell us what PL's book was (just because you said it was a good read!)

artifarti · 30/11/2010 21:05

I can! The trouble is now I think if I take it out of circulation, there is going to be a big gap somewhere...I am getting very confused. I think I need to do a list of where all the books are at the moment AND WHERE THEY SHOULD BE!!! This may take some time...

OP posts:
AgentProvocateur · 30/11/2010 22:49

Hmm, yes, confusing. You'd either need to find someone else to join in her place, or we could all have a month with no book.

It all sounds far too complicated for me, so I'm off to bed with mt RL bookgroup book.

aristocat · 01/12/2010 14:14
Xmas Smile

Christmas is coming ladies ........

artifarti · 01/12/2010 15:16

Right. Here is what I am going to do! Over the next week or so I am going to produce a list of where all the books are (presuming most people will be posting in the next few days). Then I can work out where all the problems are and what we can do about it!

So, as soon as you post or receive a book, let me know and I will add it to my glorious spreadsheet. Xmas Grin

Lots of snow here and DS vomited all last night so we are hunkering down today. It snow fun haha.

OP posts:
AgentProvocateur · 01/12/2010 21:53

OK, I have posted JohnWorf's book to StickyLittleFingers. Xmas Smile

Dysgu · 01/12/2010 23:10

I still have no book (no problem) but WE HAVE SNOW here on the Isle of Wight! Grin

It may even turn out to be enough to have the day off work for me - I teach in an urban school (for the island!) but most of the teachers live too far away to get in if the snow is heavy! What with all the little lane-type roads we have here too, there is a lot of the island that does not get gritted! SO... if not enough teachers can get in tomorrow then we have to close!

Fingers crossed - especially if DD1's pre-school is open so she will go there, DD2 will be with the childminder, DP can walk and catch the boat to the mainland for work and I will get a day to myself - unheard of and unlikely to happen, but I can dream Smile

Snowballs and snowmen, here we come (maybe!?)

artifarti · 02/12/2010 11:38

slf - have finished your book and posted on the thread. Respect - it is all parcelled up and ready to go but the post office is currently at the bottom of a ski slope and I don't fance my chances today!

Lots of snow here - anyone fancy a snowman competition? Grin

OP posts:
artifarti · 03/12/2010 17:31

Respect - posted to you today.

OP posts:
stickylittlefingers · 04/12/2010 14:19

dysgu you book went away on Thursday, so hopefully will be with you soon.

My book hasn't arrived - I know you posted it ages ago AgentP, but we're not getting a whole lotta post at the moment. I am definitely Bored of Snow now. I could really do with a nice new book to cheer me up as well... Xmas Sad

stickylittlefingers · 04/12/2010 14:20

the [fbear] and Xmas Biscuit are cute! Don't know when I'd use them in anger, so am trying them out now... I like Xmas Envy too

AgentProvocateur · 04/12/2010 15:21

SLF, I posted something to my friend in bangkok at the same time, and hers has arrived!!

stickylittlefingers · 05/12/2010 16:52

I will move to Bangkok forthwith. Xmas Grin

Dysgu · 05/12/2010 17:33

SLF I have received the book and the chocolate Grin thank you very much.

And we no longer have snow on the Isle of Wight - we had a big rain storm and it all got washed away Sad

I am unsure though - is this the book for last month or this month? Confused Should I read it quickly and send it on to Aristocat (as she did not get a book or chocolate from me last month) or should I relax and read it sometime and send it at the New Year Confused Confused
