yes. Have had another miscarriage since having dd as well but my pregnancy with dd was realtively incident free. But I do understand how hard it is,

nappyzonehasastroppytoddler · 26/10/2008 20:27

Yup, perfect first born easy non complicated preg - total shock when it happened to me when ttc our 2nd then again a few months later - contemplated giving up then got a bfp and panicked for the first 20 weeks - mini zone is 2 in 3 weeks - dont give up hope and go easy on yourself.

lucykate · 26/10/2008 20:28

yes, i had dd in 2002, after that, i had a m/c at 11 weeks in feb 2004, then another m/c at 7 weeks in may 2004, finally gave birth to ds in may 2005, third time lucky!

hope the same happens for you, x.

llareggub · 26/10/2008 20:30

Me!

one miscarriage in March, then another in May. Now 12 weeks pregnant.

My GP recommended that I take aspirin everyday, so I have with this pregnancy. No idea if the aspirin made the difference, but might be worth a shot.

Oh and try and relax as much as you can.

llareggub - Do you just take 1 aspirin a day?

do you think this advice would apply to all women who have had 2 MCs, or did they do specific tests on you before advising this?

(Sorry to hijack, but I have also recently had 2nd MC in a row, and am contemplating whether or not to try again).

VickyJane77 · 26/10/2008 20:55

Hi littlepeanut I've actually asked my doctor about the aspirin, she's looking into it for me and I'm seeing her on Friday. But anybody else with any info pass it this way x

It was something my GP mentioned. I went to see her after I'd found out about the 3rd pregnancy and wanted an early referral to a consultant due to my past history. I also had fertility treatment to conceive DS1, you see.

She referred me to a consultant and suggested that I take 1 aspirin a day in the meantime. She said that some people believed that it helped reduce the risk of miscarriage, but there was no conclusive proof.

I took it because it seemed like it was something proactive I could do, and I really, really, wanted to believe that it would work. And so far it has (perhaps!)

I didn't have any tests, just a 5 minute chat with the GP.

llareggub · 26/10/2008 20:58

I'm pretty sure I'd read about it on here too. Might be worth searching the archives, perhaps?

LittlePeanut · 26/10/2008 22:17

Thanks llareggub. Good luck for the rest of your pg.

Vickyjane please let us know what your GP says about the aspirin. Best of luck to you too.

I had a MC in July, then another one last week. Heartbreaking, isn't it? I don't know if I'm brave/ resiliant enough to try again. But then again, I'm not sure I'm ready to accept that I will only have one child either. (I have a DD who is 2).

Tillyscoutsmum · 26/10/2008 22:19

Sorry to hear you're going through your second mc OP (and others)

I had two consecutive mc's (at 6 weeks and a mmc at 9 weeks) and my third pregnancy resulted in my dd.

Hope its third time lucky for you as well x

berolina · 26/10/2008 22:30

I had 2 mc in consecutive cycles between ds1 and ds2 (had also had one before ds1). ds2 was conceived 4 months after the last mc.

berolina · 26/10/2008 22:34

The aspirin thing relates to a specific problem (is it antiphospolipid syndrome?) that can cause recurrent mc. There is (usually) no knowing you have it without tests, but seeing as taking the aspirin can't hurt, it might seem like a senasible thing to try.

My mcs were very different, so that even before conceiving ds2 I tended to agree with my gynae's assessment that I had just had very bad luck.

Lesley Regan's book is very detailed on all this but clearly written.

twentynine · 26/10/2008 22:36

Yes, I was third time lucky, and fourth time lucky as it happens.

Try not to get too down, you will get there if you keep going. My friend just gave birth to a healthy baby boy after her ninth miscarriage.

LittlePeanut · 26/10/2008 22:46

Thanks berolina for the advice regarding aspirin.

I had 2 mc between dd2 and dd3. It was horrid and I remember crying that i was never going to be able to have another baby again. anyway I did and she is now 10 months...

AuntyFlo · 11/12/2008 21:00

Sorry to hear your stories of 2 m/c's VickyJane77. Same for me and I know how it must feel.
Their comments have lifted me too. Take Care.

CarofromWton · 11/12/2008 21:05

I had 3 mc between DD1 and DD2. Despite tests on both me and DH the doctors could find no problem and just put it down to 'bad luck' and 'keep trying'. I also took an asprin when I was pregnant with DD2 - not sure if I managed to carry her full term because of that.

Good luck - I know it's heartbreaking now but it really is worth trying again...

xxx

LilRedWG · 11/12/2008 21:11

I had two MC before DD. It is heartbreaking and I feel for the OP and others. I did have bleeding in the pregnancy wt all turned out okay.

snoopdog · 11/12/2008 21:15

THE ASPRIN MUST BE 'LOW DOSE'

boots do the 75mg ones,

you have to ask for them,

do not take a full, normal strengh one,

i had 3 mcs and was 4th time lucky,

it is bloody hard keeping sane,

good luck x

orangehead · 11/12/2008 21:16

I also had 3 consective mcs. I was then advised to take the aspirin and carried to full term a healthy ds1, I then got pregnant again just 7 months after, it was a bit at first but then happy. I took the aspirin and carried to 39 weeks healthy ds2. The docotors was convinced the aspirin had worked, but I suppose they is now way of knowing for sure. But I will certainly be taking the aspirin again if/when I have another. Like Berolina said its linked to antiphospolipid syndrome but my tests came back ok, but then the docotor said the test is not always accurate so to take it anyway.
Im so sorry for your losses, but dont give up hope

scarletlilybug · 11/12/2008 21:17

Happened to me, too.
I really thought I was never going to have another child (fertility issues, too). But, after a long wait, dd2 arrived and she is now 3. And she was worth the wait!
