Hi all - long post, not sure what I’m trying to get out of it. Maybe I just need to hear someone tell me there’s a glimmer of hope.

Pregnant with my third pregnancy (1MC, 1 living child). We’re under the care of a private Fertility doctor. Had my first scan at around six weeks and all looked fine. A couple of days later, I started having some bleeding. Went to my early pregnancy unit for a scan, and they found that I had a bleed (quite a big one). Baby looked fine and heart rate was seen but told to come back in two weeks for a scan to look at the bleeding.

Today I’ve been to see my private Fertility doctor as he wanted to scan me due to the bleeding. Should just add the bleeding is taping off, still there but not as bad as it was and scan showed it was clotting and reducing in size. Again baby itself looked okay growth wise, but the heart rate was measured at 75 bpm, which I know is low.

I’m booked in for a follow-up scan next week to see what’s happening and have been told that it could go either way at this point. Am I just kidding myself or is there a chance that things could work themselves out?

Im on medication to try and give us the best possible chance of a good outcome. I trust my doctor completely but would just appreciate hearing other people’s real life experiences.

Would really welcome any positive stories at this point.

So sorry you're going through this, OP. I'm just bumping your thread in the hope someone with a similar experience sees it. You might also find our support pages helpful while you wait for your scan. Wishing you all the best.

Your comments are horrible!!! Please be kind with your comments. CAN get pregnant does not take away pain from a loss and what she is currently going through. And just because she can have fertility treatment is non of your business or validity to compare to your daughter’s journey. I hope you do not say stuff like this to your daughter

"Can get pregnant" doesn't really help when you're scared you will lose your baby. Lots of people break their leg or lose a parent or a spouse - doesn't mean those things aren't painful just because they happen to lots of people. She does know she's pregnant, so your comment is not really relevant and a bit unkind.

Fertility isn't really a good place to compare journeys and say one is better than the other. It's so sad your daughter can't conceive. It's also sad that the OP has had a miscarriage and is worried about her current pregnancy. It's not very nice to imply she should be grateful for the one she's got, it invalidates what she's going through now.

OP, sorry to hear about your problems. I haven't been in exactly your situation but I've had lots of losses so I know the pain of "it could go either way, just have to wait and see". I hope you get through til your scan as best you can, and hope it's a good outcome for you. Nothing is certain yet. Take care x

I’m so sorry OP that you’re going through this. I previously had a much wanted pregnancy slip away during an IVF process and it was awful.

I’m now 22 weeks with an IVF pregnancy and I had very heavy bleeding including large clots at 7+1, around 13 weeks and again at 18 weeks. I know the heartbeat is a separate issue, but I had blood and clots literally all over the table during the scan and on two occasions the sonographer and midwife assumed I was having a miscarriage. Thankfully baby has continued to develop well despite all of this.

I know our circumstances aren’t identical but I wanted to share my experience because I remember how desperately I wanted to hear positive stories when I was going through it.

And about the deleted nasty comment: I also wanted to say that having a living child doesn’t make the prospect of losing another pregnancy any less upsetting or frightening. You shouldn’t have to justify how much this pregnancy means to you or be grateful because you can conceive. My miscarriage was shattering, even though people even well meaning tried to reassure me it showed I could conceive. Nobody would ever dream of saying to someone who was getting divorced “Well at least you had a marriage”.

I’ll be keeping everything crossed for you ❤️

Hi @Ihaveneedofwaternear @SlightlyTerrifiedButPolite @sd8809

Thank you for your posts regarding the first comment posted on here 🩷 So nice to hear people get it, whereas perhaps others don’t quite. Taken a lot of comfort from your kindness.

At the moment I’m still a sitting duck… My bleeding has improved a lot (which is good, ofc). But I can’t shake the niggle of the issue with the heartbeat. Unfortunately there’s nothing I can do, so will just have to keep everything crossed until my next scan early next week xxx

Hi, sorry to hear about what you’re going through, it’s such a scary time! I felt more anxious with my ivf pregnancy because it felt like everything was in the balance, all the time, energy and money! But I had an early bleed and also had an early scan around 6 weeks because of this, in that appointment the doctor said the heartbeat was really faint - came out of that appointment even more worried! But the following week everything was fine and I have a perfect 11 month old!! It’s not easy but take each day as it comes, I would always focus on just the day ‘I am pregnant today and baby is growing’ - I suppose talking myself into it 🤣

keeping everything crossed for you!x

Thank you for your message @TTCK8 So glad everything worked out for you 🩷

Unfortunately we had it confirmed today that it’s a missed miscarriage, as we suspected. Although it’s awful, it was probably for the best. Taking comfort in the fact we feel positive for the future x

So sorry to hear this, OP. I'm sorry you lost your baby. It's unfair and it's shit. Hope you and your other half are ok. I'm glad you're feeling positive about the future, that's really great. Sometimes the relief of finally knowing and being able to move on can be better than the agony of uncertainty, even when the news is bad. Look after yourself xx
