TTC after miscarriage

Hi ladies, I’m currently (hopefully) at the end of an early loss, baby was 6.5weeks and I think I’ve passed all/most of the tissue etc and bleeding had started slowing down and changing to a more brown colour….
I’m looking for advice from people who have conceived straightaway… I know you can conceive 2 weeks after a miscarriage, BUT do you have to wait for a negative test or is it ok to try even when you still have a positive line?
I have no pain or anything and won’t start trying until bleeding has definitely stopped (to prevent infection) but I’ve seen that many people have said they didn’t get a negative test until 6-10weeks later and I don’t want to wait that long.. so have people done it without waiting for that negative test???🙏🏻

This is my test today: for reference I started spotting lightly 8 days ago, period like bleeding started 4 days ago and large clots and definite tissue etc passed yesterday morning…

any advice welcome! Many thanks 🥰

I’m sorry for your loss. It’s such a rubbish time.

That’s an extremely dark line so you may not be out of the woods yet. My miscarriage took 5 weeks in total to complete and I kept getting positive tests throughout that. I ended up taking the pills on a few occasions to help.
My doctor advised not to try again until I’d had a period again after the miscarriage so although it seems like a wasted few weeks I’m going to just wait to ensure there’s no remaining tissue etc .. I think they also advise it for dating.

Cariadxx · 10/04/2024 09:12

I remember being told not to have sex or use tampons for 2 weeks after the bleeding stopped as your cervix might still be open and therefore risk of infection.
Your line is very dark.... have you had a scan? Stranger things have happened.....

Rosesanddaisies1 · 10/04/2024 09:14

I’d definitely wait for a negative test because this indicates that there aren’t any retained products. Waiting to have a normal period is advised as it makes dating the pregnancy easier. And also gives yourself some time to recover physically and mentally.

Rosesanddaisies1 · 10/04/2024 09:15

And have you had a scan which confirmed the MC? That’s an unusually strong line to have.

ThelastRolo20 · 10/04/2024 12:40

So sorry for your loss. I agree the line is very strong if you've passed the tissue. They say to test after 3 weeks but I'd test in a couple of days to check it's at least going down. If it isn't or you continue having heavy bleeding I'd ask for a scan as you may have retained product x

Mommabear96 · 10/04/2024 13:05

Thanks everyone ❤️
Yeah the line is really dark I agree but I’m guessing that’s because it’s so recent? Do hope I don’t end up having any retained tissue or anything 😫 this is the last few days been using the app to show the ratio of the lines rather than just doing it by sight and it does appear that it’s going down slightly and slowly? Suppose it would be best to wait a few days or week then test again and hopefully it would have changed more significantly🤞🏻

they said they wouldn’t have me in for a scan unless I was in absolute agony which I’m not soooo🤷🏼‍♀️…. Also the closest EPU is over an hour away and we don’t have a car which makes things tricky as we haven’t told anyone else about this and don’t really know want to so would be hard getting a lift….

@Mommabear96 ah it's so hard, everyone's body's works out the hormone at its own pace but after 48 hours it should be a slightly bigger difference I'd say. Let me go through my pics from a 12 week MC to show you. If no other concerning symptoms just see where you are after a week has passed or so x

ThelastRolo20 · 10/04/2024 13:26

@Mommabear96 these are 3/4/6 days post my miscarriage. It took a full 3 weeks to fully go, and even then my next period I think to fully reset.(I think my pictures are attaching back to front!)

@ThelastRolo20 thank you for those! Yeah it sucks😓 I already have one baby and that pregnancy went so smoothly and easily 😫
did you take those after the bleeding had stopped completely? As I’m still bleeding now, called down a bit yesterday and thought it was stopping but it’s heavy again today so maybe I’m just testing too early? X

ThelastRolo20 · 10/04/2024 14:44

@Mommabear96 same! My first pregnancy was so straight forward and easy and then bam, two back to back missed miscarriages. We had a 3 months break and are starting again from next cycle which should start within the next week!

Hmm I must have still be bleeding, I think after the initial miscarriage (4 hours on a toilet) I had a normalish period so probably bled for about a week or so after.

See what it's looking like in a couple of days and if very much the same I'd push for a scan. Better to get it sorted quickly if there are retained products so you can move on (physically at least) x

Mommabear96 · 10/04/2024 15:10

@ThelastRolo20
When you say:
‘Hmm I must have still be bleeding, I think after the initial miscarriage (4 hours on a toilet) I had a normalish period so probably bled for about a week or so after’
Do you mean you had a break in bleeding after the miscarriage tissue passed and then a period? Or are you saying once it passed you had period like bleeding for a week carrying straight on from it?

thanks for your words. Sending baby dust and love and hope for you this time!🥰✨✨✨

ThelastRolo20 · 10/04/2024 15:29

@Mommabear96 it was a continuation of the miscarriage, so from MC starting to ending was about a week 😊

Mommabear96 · 10/04/2024 21:35

@ThelastRolo20 thanks. Glad it went so quickly for you, feel like although mine has progressed it is taking its time😫
This is day 9 now, but was just lightly spotting with no pain for the first 4/5 days or so, then lost the tissue etc now I guess I’m in that time where you have that period like bleed afterwards? Hopefully it will start to lessen soon and I get that negative test without intervention 🤞🏻😫

ThelastRolo20 · 11/04/2024 08:49

@Mommabear96 fingers crossed! A bit of spotting is totally normal ❤️ how are you doing today?

Mommabear96 · 11/04/2024 09:31

@ThelastRolo20 still just having period like bleeding, on and off light cramping. It’s definitely not just pregnancy spotting as all my symptoms which were really strong have completely gone….. did another test this morning and it’s still dark as can be!🤦‍♀️
Managed to get a GP appointment for Monday so going to go in for blood tests to see if my HCG levels are falling or not and go from there I guess….

OP posts:
ThelastRolo20 · 11/04/2024 09:55

@Mommabear96 oh bless you, have you tried calling EPU to see if they'll scan you as well? They'll be able to see any retained products 🤞🏻

Mommabear96 · 11/04/2024 10:50

@ThelastRolo20 No not yet, I figured I’d do these blood tests at the GP first to see what my hormone levels are doing, and then depending on the results I’ll see if I need to go to the EPU.
Was hoping to avoid it if possible as the EPU is over an hour away from me and I don’t have a car, or money for the extortionate trains, and we don’t want to ask family for a lift as we haven’t told them about this🤷🏼‍♀️ so kinda hard to get there, so only going to figure that out if we absolutely have to….

ThelastRolo20 · 14/04/2024 15:42

@Mommabear96 hey how are you? Thought I'd check in x

Mommabear96 · 14/04/2024 15:49

@ThelastRolo20 awh how sweet, thank you🥰
Just the same old really, just light/mild bleeding and constant mild cramps 🙄🙃
Want to say my pregnancy tests are getting lighter but idk if that’s just my eyes being hopeful. Should be having 1st blood test tomorrow so hopefully be able to see my hcg levels and check that they are changing😫

Just wondering do you/anyone else know if it’s possible to have a complete MC without passing anything huge? Is it possible for it all to come out as just tiny clots and bleeding?😬
(I was 6.5weeks when bleeding started so might have lost baby at earlier stage…)

OP posts:
ThelastRolo20 · 14/04/2024 17:07

@Mommabear96 hmm I don't know I'm afraid, I was further along 😔 feel free to post the test and I can also compare?

It's so frustrating when it seems to be never ending! X

Mommabear96 · 14/04/2024 17:23

Started spotting on 03/04 and think most of tissue (although only small pieces) passed on 08/04 and 09/04….. day 13 of bleeding now, definitely reducing but I’m worried than not enough product has come out….
The top 3 tests (oldest) are definitely much darker, however they were from a different batch of tests so not sure if that makes a difference….

@Mommabear96 yeah I'd say they're a bit lighter but I think you would see a bigger difference now 🤔

You're seeing the GP tomorrow right? Hopefully the blood test will shed some light ❤️

Mommabear96 · 14/04/2024 19:41

@ThelastRolo20 yeah such a pain, feels like it’s dragging on forever…..
Yeah getting 1st blood test hopefully tomorrow with GP so should have had 2 tests and results by the end of the week🤞🏻 Do hope these show more progress than the tests, really don’t want to have any complications 😫
Going to get drinking some raspberry tea as that made me go into labour so will hopefully push something out if there’s anything left🤷🏼‍♀️
Do you know if the GP can prescribe the pill to speed things along? Or would you have to get this at hospital following a scan?

OP posts:
Mommabear96 · 15/04/2024 19:58

@ThelastRolo20 and other readers…..
got a great one here! so just went to see the GP (still got scan at EPU tomorrow) and the GP says ‘Do you not think you’re just having a period? Are you sure you are/were even pregnant’ 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ what an idiot

ThelastRolo20 · 15/04/2024 20:17

@Mommabear96 oh my god how insensitive and useless! I'm hoping they did the blood test?? How are you feeling?
