hiya,

i didn’t know where else to turn to for human advice….

i found out i was pregnant over three weeks ago, im around 6 week pregnant, i got a clear blue 3* a few days ago (wasn’t testing daily just had an feeling it would be 3+ by now ). i had hope that meant everything was fine and i wouldn’t miscarry, i know that sounds silly.

anyways this morning i woke up thinking i had wet myself, very watery blood was pouring out. then after i got off the toilet nothing. an hour later im just spotting more brown. i’ve had barely any pain at all. mild cramps which ive had this entire pregnancy.

im not sure what to do, ive only had a chemical pregnancy a few years back which was extremely painful and vlotts. this feels weird and and i don’t know what to make of it

any experiences? the bleeding was very very heavy at least a cup full in one go.

i think so too, just want to know for certain, but i don’t think the doctors will do anything at this stage, waiting for a call back from them currently, little lost as to what to do

Hope the drs were able to help you a bit today on where to go next. When I was having pain at 6 weeks I called the hospital early pregnancy unit and they booked me in for a scan and it went from there. Contact your community midwife if the gp hasn't been helpful and they will hopefully be able to guide you a bit more. Bleeding doesn't always mean miscarriage. Hope you are OK.

hiya, the doctor was very supportive and kind. however told me i was 100% miscarrying without even checking anything at all; just went off the fact i had a gush of blood. the bleeding continued all day but all night i’ve had nothing and this morning nothing when i wipe.
is this normal for a miscarriage? i have no clue what to expect

Bleeding can stop and start with a miscarriage, but also sometimes people have pockets of blood that leak out and its not a miscarriage. Have you had any pain? I really would calk your community midwife/EPU and see what they say - they know what they're talking about more than GPs and will be able to give you more guidance on what to expect.

ahh i didn’t realise that, thank you! the lady i spoke with was in pregnancy place in the hospital, so i had hope she knew her stuff🤞🏻 i haven’t had any pain at all, it’s been rather painless and i haven’t had any clots either. was like a heavy period. she said i wouldn’t need a scan as 6 weeks is early and to just ride it out

@kmorri sorry you going through this op , I really sounds to me like subchronic hematoma , where you bleed with no pain . With misscarrige you’d cramp soo soo bad . I had hematoma in my pregnancy too at 6 weeks and was bleeding heavily and then it suddenly stops . It’s a blood pocket between baby and placenta . It can go both ways if it’s that . It can cause a loss because it can pull the baby away with the heavy flow but many have had it go away on it own and baby has been totally fine . Wishing you luck ! I’d imagine if it was a loss you’d be super cramps right now and passing clots and stuff .

i too have been thinking the same, i have had very mild cramps every now and then, but had those since i found out! with the gush of blood i had nothing. just watery blood, not thick or anything! then yesterday all day ended up being like a period not heavy and today brown spotting! no clots throughout all of this at all

no clue ); how will i ever know? when will my symptoms go? do i re test at a certain time to know!

Can you afford an early viability scan? They're around £50-80 depending on the provider and they can usually do them from around 6 weeks which will give you an indication if there is a pregnancy in the womb and if so, if all is looking as it should.

@kmorri yes I totally agree with @SlowlyLurking , I’m not sure how old you are or anything ? But could you possibly Scrape together some money for early scan ? I went at 6 weeks and they do scans from 6 weeks in most places and by that point you normally see heartbeat and location . Plus it would 100% tell you if you have hematoma bleed , and if you find that you do , then it puts your mind at rest to know where the bleeding is coming from . But at the same time , if you can wait , maybe wait few more days and see if it gets worse so you don’t have to spend the money if it really turns into misscarrige ? If no cramping and clots in few days , I’d surely go for private scan then . If it is subchronic hematoma then waiting for few days won’t harm you as they won’t be able to do anything about it anyways , just watch as see approach basically . The fact your bleeding has turned into spotting , makes me even more positive that it’s hematoma bleed . Thats how it was with me , I’m talking from experience :)

@kmorri I have had few pregnancy losses at 6 week mark and I can tell from experience that as soon as red blood started , it got really really bad and full on cramps very soon after , few hours later , and iv also had hematoma bleed which was completely different , at 6 weeks , massive gush of blood , for a day, no pain at all , went for a scan and all was good still , hematoma seen on scan . So I know the differences between misscarrige bleed and hematoma very clearly . Xx

@kmorri but obviously everyone is different , I’m just talking from my own experience , but it can’t be much different from woman to woman I wouldn’t of thought . Wishing you the best x

thank you for the info! really helpful 💗 i’m 28! can afford a private one but everywhere near me seems to be booked up for 2 weeks! i have called my doctor again and asked them to refer me, so hopefully ill get a call back with a scan date and update more.

trying to not get my hopes up, i’m still suffering with nausea and breast pain which hasn’t got less or worse, but i’m assuming if it definatly is a miscarriage this would take a while to go?

i expected a miscarriage to be very heavy and very painful especially as i suffer badly with periods, so it shocked me for sure!

@kmorri ok fully booked , what a shame :( but I thought that if you have any bleeding in pregnancy , you can be urgently seen in early pregnancy unit for a scan , like fast . So yeah I’d try GP then and say you’re sooo worried and anxious and need to know . You could also say you’re scared it could be ectopic pregnancy ( in tubes , very dangerous ) you could lie a little to make it more urgent if you really needed , they don’t need to know that . And for me personally , when I had my 6 week losses , the symptoms went few days before I misscarriged , so that’s another positive for you that you still have symptoms . Or could you ring early pregnant unit by yourself ? Or does it have to be by GP? I hope all turns out well for you because I know the feeling of a heartbreak if it doesn’t :(

i did try to ring around a few of them to see if they can squeeze me in but no luck! and yeah apparently because i’m unsure of my dates and don’t know if im exactly six weeks and said i could be a few days less, they said would be pointless to scan as wouldn’t see anything! so yeah i have called them up and exaggerated a bit more to get the scan , would just like to know what’s going on so i can deal with it, ive been in tears for so long feeling very confused. i hope they fit me in this week🤞🏻

@kmorri so sorry you have to be in the unknown and wait :( it feels horrible not knowing ! But yes you wouldn’t see too much if your under 6 weeks but you could of said you are 6 weeks for sure 😉😆 and if they scan you and you’re not , then what can they do ? the worst case scenario is that you can say maybe you ovulated later than you thought 😁 at least you’d know where you stand , plus also if you was actually 5 weeks , they would still be able to see hematoma bleed even then so .. ok , what’s done is done , let’s hope they can get you in this week and hopefully your bleeding stops and all ends up being perfectly fine ! Fingers crossed for you 🙏

@kmorri some people go for a scan and are let’s say 7-8 weeks but find that baby stopped developing at 5 weeks , so there is no way they would find out if you fibbing or not about the dates :)

I'm glad you're going to get the scan. My midwife friend said EPU's don't scan if you're less than 6 weeks, but I totally get the need to know what's going on. Its so unsettling to not know what's happening.

hi everyone, getting a scan is proving difficult, my pregnancy test is still 3+ clear blue and dye stealer on line tests, wouldn’t they have started to go down by now?

OP posts:

@kmorri hey op , answer to your question , I realised that the dye stealers only went down after passing the actual pregnancy sac and baby , but because you only had bleeding so far , it wouldn’t go down just yet ! But hopefully it’s all going to be fine ? How’s the bleeding today ?

And the hcg level hormone is most likely to be in the thousands , which means it will go down really slow , IF it was pregnancy loss . So your hcg numbers could be at 15 000 at the moment and the clear blue 3+ only needs I think 3500? Or something similar , so you see , until you actually lose the pregnancy sac , I won’t move down much at all because the pregnancy sac is still there in the womb , my hcg level was 24 000 at 6 weeks but I still lost it . Xx
