Ovulation after pregnancy loss

Hi everyone
I sadly had a mc which started with bleeding on 1st Jan and I believe I miscarried completely on 2nd Jan this year. It was confirmed as a complete miscarriage on 4th Jan with a scan. I bled until Saturday 7th and I have been taking hcg tests everyday which are getting lighter - as of today, they are basically squinters. I was 6weeks 2 days and things happened quickly and with little pain.
I'd like to try again ASAP as my husband works away and it's difficult to plan these things.
I have a very regular cycle - usually 27 or 28 days but I've not really tracked ovulation before so not sure when I typically ovulate - I guess probably around day 13 but not sure.
I am wondering if people can share when they ovulated after their mc? I've become confused by reading online as some have said 2 weeks later but was this 2 weeks after bleeding started or 2 weeks after bleeding stopped?
Or am I unlikely to ovulate until 2 weeks after HCG has fully gone? I am getting myself confused. I can only see ranges online but not sure if the range is smaller for your next period if the mc was early.
I'm going to track BBT and use OPKs too but I'm just interested in others experiences. Could this happen as early as this Sunday as this was 2 weeks from the start of the MC?
Also, I already have one ds who is 18 months and I'm still breastfeeding. No idea if this has any bearing on things but it was a straight forward pregnancy and birth with him.
Thanks so much in advance!

@AnotherEllie good luck for this week - that was me last week. last loss was 7+2 or 3 and I'm now 8+2 but then my friend just lost a baby at that point, and I found out last week which I think set off my anxiety tbh

Had my booking appt and it was very surreal. Just kept thinking I can't do this again if I have another loss. Can't connect to the pregnancy at all! But one day at a time.

Good to know your symptoms are fluctuating too. I'm definitely more nauseous when I have my toddler around lol.

My two scans were both NHS but am tempted to pay for a 10 week one. Will decide this time next week. I can't really afford it to be honest!

Hopefulhoney6 · 19/02/2023 18:47

Oh wow it is such an anxious time!! I really think symptoms vary person by person and pregnancy by pregnancy but can be hard to tell yourself that.

@Travellingislife Ive been off MN all weekend, been feeling very sad and low as it’s 74 days since my MMC and I thought my cycles would be back by now. No - I’m still getting flashing. And no BBT rise. I run out of sticks tomorrow (which will be day 10 since getting first flashing) so I think I’m just going to stop testing for a while and try and chill out a bit 😬 but also speak to GP to see if they recommend any tests.

Travellingislife · 20/02/2023 06:29

@Hopefulhoney6 It is such a shitty time when all you want to be is pregnant 😔
I think it would be great to do what will make you chill out ( I should take my own advice on this..) and definitely speak to your gp.
When I wasn’t ovulating because of overtraining/ undereating which made my hormones messed up, a fertility specialist recommended Letrozole to me. It made me ovulate and kickstarted my system, well I had to eat more and train less too.

Hopefulhoney6 · 20/02/2023 08:39

@Travellingislife finally got a solid this morning!! Already feel like a weight has lifted… hopefully will get a BBT rise in next few days and confirm. DTD yesterday and will do again today and then hope I get a period / BFP.

the chilling out if the hardest thing….! I’m trying to do deep breathing twice a day.

AnotherEllie · 20/02/2023 08:57

@Hopefulhoney6 I'm so pleased you got your solid smiley - particularly after feeling sad at the weekend! I remember feeling relief that my body was regulating itself and getting back to normal so hope you feel the same too! Hopefully one step closer to your rainbow baby 😊

@Hopefulhoney6 Great news!!
Deep breathing is great, I should do it more often!

Hopefulhoney6 · 20/02/2023 11:54

Thank you @AnotherEllie ❤️

@Travellingislife I do 4 seconds in, 5 seconds out 10 times… in bed and before breakfast/lunch (supposedly). I’ve got an injury (also used to train a lot!) and the physio said my stress (often high with work etc) is making it worse. Sure it’s not great for TTC either.

AnotherEllie · 24/02/2023 08:54

How's everyone getting on?

I had my booking appointment this week and all fine. My midwife didn't seem at all bothered about my MC (e.g. she nearly forgot to log it), which I guess means she wasn't concerned but it did make me feel a bit odd because to me it was a big deal and I felt she could have offered a bit more reassurance. Maybe she thought I seemed relaxed about it - but still.

She went off the loss for my due date. I think it'll be about one week out based on when I ovulated. I think it might become a little confusing as my DS measured 95 centile the whole time during my last pregnancy - so I'm wondering if it will look like the baby will come in line with the earlier date as it will be measuring larger? (Does that make sense?)

I suppose it'll only be an issue if the baby is late and I think my due date is a week earlier than it should be - but I suppose I can have that conversation if we get to that point! My DS came at 39wks so maybe it won't be a problem.

Hope you're all doing okay!

Hey @AnotherEllie so glad to hesr you’re doing ok💕 i’m doing fine …. Still nothing dramatic to report really, bit of sickness, lots of vivid dreams and absolutely exhausted !! I’ll he nearly 6 weeks by loss date this weekend. See how the next week or so goes symptom wise! away for the weekend which i’m really looking forward to relaxing a bit :). Interesting that they haven’t offered an early scan for dating , I thought they might xxx

Travellingislife · 25/02/2023 05:56

Hey everyone,
So I got a BFP yesterday! Eeeeek! 10dpo. I felt like my period was about to start around day 6-8 and when it didn’t I thought something must be up. I’m worried but cautiously happy. I wasn’t going to test until I was about a week late because I might experience a chemical ( I hate that word!) but here we are. My insomnia has started now, that’s probably because I know I’m pregnant 😅 but other than that I don’t have any symptoms.
I’ll be super worried about another loss but I’ll try and take it one day at a time. I’m preparing myself mentally in case I start to bleed, it’s so sad I’m doing this but I’m not sure how I can stop it.
I took my test in the afternoon yesterday but the line was still quite strong which feels reassuring, I’ll still test a few more times to see if the line gets stronger, that’ll reassure me for some reason.

@AnotherEllie I’m glad the booking appointment went well! I think the dating will be adjusted by week 12 or even week 20 when you do the scans.
I’ve noticed that professionals don’t tend to think a loss is a big deal and they don’t show a lot of empathy. Maybe they’re just so used to it and maybe they can’t “ care” too much because it would be so emotionally draining. I don’t know but I find it quite hard as it’s a massive heartbreak for the ones going through it.

LMM91x · 25/02/2023 07:03

@Travellingislife OH wow !!!!! Congrats congrats congrats 💕💕💕💕💕💕 how are you feeling?!xxxx

OhGodIAmTired · 25/02/2023 09:49

@Travellingislife I am so so so happy for you!

When I had a chemical the line got fainter (tested 2 days after period was due, but by 4w6d it was non existent, and the next day I bled).

So I think a few days of testing at first is a good thing, because at least with my chemical I kind of new it wasn't looking good and could mentally prepare for that.

Sorry to be negative though! I am sure that such a strong early positive is a really, really good sign and I'm thrilled for you.

I have no advice on the anxiety over loss though clearly, as I've been a wreck and have like 12 days until my 12 week scan (which will actually be at more like 11 weeks) and I just can't imagine getting past that point right now!

@AnotherEllie glad your booking appointment went well and I agree, midwives can be quite insensitive about loss.

My dates are all just guesses at the moment but the 8 week scan helped a little. If I went by my miscarriage as the last period then I'd be 10+5 now. But because I know conception date then I know I'm more like 9+4. Am sure this will change again at the next scan!

AnotherEllie · 25/02/2023 11:41

@Travellingislife yay I'm thrilled for you!! I think that's definitely a good sign that you had a good line in the afternoon! I did maybe 3 tests and definitely felt reassured as the lines got stronger.

@OhGodIAmTired hopefully your scan all goes well! Each new week seems like a small victory now. But the time seems to drag and go quickly at the same time. My 12 week scan is around 4 weeks and I'm counting down the days!

@LMM91x enjoy your weekend away!!! Also my dreams get so crazy when pregnant!

Hopefulhoney6 · 25/02/2023 12:45

@Travellingislife yay!!! That’s great news 💕 there’s so many BFPs on here recently after loss it’s making me cautiously hopeful.

I’m 4DPO I think, based on BBT/FF and getting my solid smiley on Monday so I’ll wait until next Sat (11DPO) to test. Last pregnancy I was negative at 10DPO and positive at 12DPO.

@AnotherEllie Feeling so much happier now I’ve had a smiley, but last month I had a smiley and didn’t bleed. So if I don’t bleed this month the worry might start again but let’s see. Trying to stay calm right now.

I also may have to go to India next month with work and I really can’t work out the Zika risk?!? The gov website hasn’t been updated since 2019.
I’m going to Barbados in May but I’ve done research on that and they haven’t had cases in a while.

Travellingislife · 26/02/2023 06:33

Thank you everyone! I’m happy, excited and worried in equal amounts.
I saw a fertility specialist privately before and he recommended a “ managed pregnancy”, so scans every 2 weeks until 12 weeks, apparently that increases the chance of a successful pregnancy, they research can’t tell why though. I’m probably going to go with his advice.
Because of my age I’ll definitely do a NIP test around week 10 if I get that far.

@Hopefulhoney6 India! Far more exiting than the countries I go to with work 😁 Maybe speak to your GP about the Zika risk? And check that the travel insurance would be valid.

Hopefulhoney6 · 26/02/2023 08:42

@Travellingislife yes it’s an unusual one… don’t normally do this sort of thing. I’ve decided if I get a BFP before I don’t think I’d go anyway and just talk to my boss. If I’m just TTC still I’ll talk to my GP, you can get a blood test when you get back and check the travel insurance. It’s a funny one because they advise you not to travel to places like Singapore and I have multiple friends who live there and have had children there!

Hopefulhoney6 · 04/03/2023 16:08

My temp dropped so I’m not pregnant…. But also no AF except a couple of spots of brown (second month in a row). Speaking to GP next week and want to get a referral for scans to check everything is OK after my surgery for MMC.

Hope everyone who is preg is feeling ok!

DBBW · 04/03/2023 17:00

Hi everyone
hope you don’t mind me commenting on this thread but it’s been so lovely to read all the positives. I’m just coming to the end of a chemical pregnancy trying to conceive for the first time and it’s given me some hope for the future x

LAURAPAX · 04/03/2023 18:31

Hi @Hopefulhoney6 hope you are doing ok. Sorry to hear your temp dropped. Have you taken a test? When was your AF due? I am half way through my TWW (2nd cycle post MMC) but feeling really negative about it : (

@Travellingislife congrats on your news that’s very exciting! Hopefully we will be behind you soon 🤞🏻

@DBBW sorry you are here, hope you are looking after yourself xx

Hopefulhoney6 · 05/03/2023 16:46

@LAURAPAX I did a test at 10dpo and BFN. I’m having spotting just not a full on AF which is what has happened since by ERPC so I’m going to try and see a specialist about it.

It’s hard to stay positive in the TWW. I’m always so up and down, but I’ll keep everything crossed for you! And there are lots of positive stories on here :)

AnotherEllie · 06/03/2023 14:30

@DBBW so sorry you are going through this but glad you feel encouraged by the thread! There is hope after loss.

@Hopefulhoney6 sorry to hear things are up and down. I found not knowing what was happening with my cycle difficult - and from reading various threads, spotting seems to happen quite often. I think seeing a specialist sounds good. A few of us in the thread have noted how tricky it is with the lack of info out there too - so hopefully speaking to someone will help you understand more of what's going on and what next.

Hopefully we will have even more positive stories soon 😊

It's been a while since I checked this thread so just wanted to say a big congratulations to everyone who has had new pregnancies :)

I am still having a positive pregnancy test 4.5 weeks after my miscarriage, I had a scan on Monday and there was nothing left, all was ok apart from a very small cyst on my left ovary and an irregular lining. It measured 7.5mm. I don't know if that's good or bad... she seemed happy and said I just needed to wait for the hcg to come down and for my period to start but its so frustrating! I've been having mild cramps the last few days and it makes me keep hoping my period is finally coming, but it never does.

Just really want my body to go back to normal!

DBBW · 08/03/2023 20:50

@LAURAPAX thank you, been really feeling awful the past week or two, I guess everyone handles it differently but starting to have a bit more hope now my bleeding has stopped after two weeks. Hope you are okay x

DBBW · 08/03/2023 20:51

@AnotherEllie Exactly that, trying to think positive so seeing other peoples success stories can really help x

Travellingislife · 15/03/2023 06:50

Morning! How is everyone feeling?
I decided to have an early scan yesterday and saw a heartbeat, I’m so relieved! It’s such early days so anything can happen but when I lost the pregnancy previously I had an early scan as well, but that only showed an empty sac and I ended up losing it 10 days later. I’m still anxious but I’m trying to take one day at a time and whatever will happen will happen regardless of me worrying or not.
I haven’t booked my booking in appointment yet though, I’m worried I’ll jinx it.. So silly I know..
Hope you’re all doing well!
