Ovulation after pregnancy loss

Hi everyone
I sadly had a mc which started with bleeding on 1st Jan and I believe I miscarried completely on 2nd Jan this year. It was confirmed as a complete miscarriage on 4th Jan with a scan. I bled until Saturday 7th and I have been taking hcg tests everyday which are getting lighter - as of today, they are basically squinters. I was 6weeks 2 days and things happened quickly and with little pain.
I'd like to try again ASAP as my husband works away and it's difficult to plan these things.
I have a very regular cycle - usually 27 or 28 days but I've not really tracked ovulation before so not sure when I typically ovulate - I guess probably around day 13 but not sure.
I am wondering if people can share when they ovulated after their mc? I've become confused by reading online as some have said 2 weeks later but was this 2 weeks after bleeding started or 2 weeks after bleeding stopped?
Or am I unlikely to ovulate until 2 weeks after HCG has fully gone? I am getting myself confused. I can only see ranges online but not sure if the range is smaller for your next period if the mc was early.
I'm going to track BBT and use OPKs too but I'm just interested in others experiences. Could this happen as early as this Sunday as this was 2 weeks from the start of the MC?
Also, I already have one ds who is 18 months and I'm still breastfeeding. No idea if this has any bearing on things but it was a straight forward pregnancy and birth with him.
Thanks so much in advance!

Yeah definitely! Today I tested and it was just the circle 😢😢😩 I'm so gutted and annoyed. I just feel so disheartened by it all xx

moosey89 · 14/08/2023 12:38

@HollyBrwn I started bleeding lightly today after 2 days of spotting, so I think I've skipped ovulation completely and gone straight to period! So frustrating, but hopefully this next month my hormones will be back on track x

HollyBrwn · 14/08/2023 12:55

Aww really @moosey89 that's gutting. Are you still getting the flashing smile?
Hopefully our bodies are just regulating 🤞🏻 xx

moosey89 · 14/08/2023 12:57

@HollyBrwn yup still getting the flashing smiley! It's so confusing.... I really just want my body to be back to its boringly regular cycle now. xx

HollyBrwn · 14/08/2023 13:13

Has that maybe been implantation bleeding? I am starting to wonder if maybe I have peaked but the test hasn't showed it or that.
I'm probably just torturing myself tbh. Yeah I am in agreement with you about the cycles xxx

moosey89 · 14/08/2023 13:27

Nah, I'm tracking progesterone and it didn't rise, and I didn't get a peak OPK at all, nowhere near unfortunately. Just think I didn't ovulate at all xx

HollyBrwn · 14/08/2023 16:14

How do you track your progesterone? I was doing strip ones as well and their are some days they have been dark like the days I peaked before. Who knows 😓 xxx

moosey89 · 14/08/2023 16:21

@HollyBrwn I've got a Mira tracker which you can track all sorts through including FSH, LH progesterone and oestrogen (bloody expensive to buy all the different sticks, but I just wanted to make sure I get back to ovulating then I'll go back to my usual clearblue ones!)x

HollyBrwn · 14/08/2023 16:23

Aw yeah @moosey89 you said that, sorry! I will test tomorrow morning just to see what it's saying but after that I might take a break from the testing and just wait and see if my period appears xx

AnotherEllie · 14/08/2023 17:45

@moosey89 I think this happened to others on the thread - they didn't seem to get a peak before their first period. From what I remember though, they did after their period returned and then have gone on to conceive - so hoping the same applies for you😊

After having such a regular period, I found it really hard to not know what was happening with my body - so appreciate how hard it is for those of you experiencing this now. Things will re-regulate though!

@AnotherEllie thank you - I didn't read all the way back, that's really reassuring to hear. After my first loss me and my then husband didn't try again so I didn't track anything and don't have a clue how quickly or not I regulated again. That was 4 years ago, but clearly at some point my cycles were all ok as I could get pregnant again. Just got to keep waiting and hoping x

HollyBrwn · 14/08/2023 19:37

I think it's the unknown of what your body is actually doing :( x

HollyBrwn · 15/08/2023 12:02

Tested today again @moosey89. Clear blue is the circle but I also done the strip test and they are all still showing two strong lines so I am a bit confused. Who knows 🤷🏼‍♀️ xx

moosey89 · 15/08/2023 12:52

@HollyBrwn argh how frustrating! I'm CD2 now, super heavy period which isn't fun but hopefully all things lead to getting back on track!x

HollyBrwn · 15/08/2023 13:17

Yeah that's definitely positive! God only knows what my body is doing 😓 I have been feeling quite nauseated and slight cramping. My periods had only just got regular due to my PCOS before I fell pregnant so I am hoping they don't go back to be all over the place again x

HollyBrwn · 16/08/2023 11:17

I have attached a picture below to show you all my strip tests over the past two weeks to see what you think ..

OhGodIAmTired · 16/08/2023 19:12

Just to share my experience. I ovulate later in my cycle - days 18-20 ish.

3-4 weeks after my miscarriage (which was spontaneous and I’d had a negative pregnancy test a week after I started bleeding) - I saw some EWCM. I then did a strip ovulation test and it came up v dark. I hadn’t been testing or tracking but was paying attention to my body as was keen to know how it was recovering.

I also really wanted to have sex. For the first time since the loss. Was really shocked! We did that night - once - and I got pregnant.

i think the ovulation tests are helpful but ultimately believe cm and your own sex drive are the best indicators of fertility (assuming there’s nothing else going on like pcos).

HollyBrwn · 17/08/2023 07:16

So although I have been only getting the circle on the CB I continued to test just in case and today this happened ..

But now my only worry is, we haven't had sex since Sunday because I had just kind of thought aw bugger it nothings happening anyway. Are my chances low now? 😓

moosey89 · 17/08/2023 08:55

@HollyBrwn when I got pregnant we only did it once, the day after static smiley so it is possible! Chances are a little lower, but definitely still worth trying today/tomorrow x

HollyBrwn · 17/08/2023 14:40

Thank you, this has made me feel a little better @moosey89 xx

HollyBrwn · 18/08/2023 11:07

Did anyone feel such a big pressure regarding ovulation and peak day after MC? Last time I was a bit more relaxed but my anxiety is through the roof 😩 the dreaded 2 week wait and the dreaded negative test 🥺 x

AnotherEllie · 30/08/2023 19:58

@HollyBrwn I totally understand those feelings and felt the same. Lots of others on the thread expressed similar feelings too. I put a lot of pressure on myself and wanted to fall pregnant again ASAP - now I am nearly 35 weeks pregnant and it has gone so quickly - so I wish I had been a bit easier on myself!
It's positive though that you got a smiley test and positive OPK! Your body is readjusting.
Hope you are doing okay now!

Just wanted to share my rainbow baby was born at the weekend after appearing 2.5 weeks early! I thought she'd be late due to late ovulation - so she is already keeping me on my toes!

There is hope after loss, sending baby dust to those on this journey 💞

@AnotherEllie congratulations!!! I’m thinking I’ll have to wait a while as my DS was born at 42 weeks but they do like to keep us on our toes like you said. Enjoy the baby bubble 😍
