Hi

I've had a ERPC (D&C) nearly 3 weeks ago they asked me to do a pregnancy test which has come back positive I've had no bleeding what so ever..

I was 10 weeks pregnant, pregnancy failed at 8 weeks had to wait for the heartbeat to be booked for the ERPC

Has anyone experienced this as I'm worried

Thank you

Hi @pattaz2711, I’d contact the hospital where you had the surgery and let them know. The same thing happened to me so they brought me in and scanned me and unfortunately found that a big piece of tissue had been left behind. I had to have the procedure repeated last week.

pattaz2711 · 27/08/2020 09:32

@Dbrook hey how are you I was on the other group with you.. thank you for messaging. I've been told to do a test again.. it's horrible. They left it for so long as we couldn't do anything until the heart stopped.. an now this...

How are you getting on lovely

Of course I remember you from the other group, I’ve been wondering how you’ve been doing. Hopefully your levels are just taking a long time to go down and this whole ordeal will be over soon. We have really had the worst luck.

I’ve been finding it really hard to cope actually, especially as I now need to start the investigations into recurrent miscarriage. We had the embryo tested and it was chromosomally normal so the issue is probably with me. Feels like I’m at the bottom of a mountain.

What are your next steps? Are you going to do more IVF?

pattaz2711 · 27/08/2020 19:58

@Dbrook bless you it's such a lot to take in getting the positive then taken away.. an obvs seeing mine an kept seeing it to be told to stop everything..

I know how you feel what is wrong why can't we just do it..

I asked my doctor about abnormalities an he said even if they come back normal there is still a chance of it failing so don't be to hard on your self.. how many do you have left..

They've said I can try a nutural cycle this time.. which I'm kinda nervous about it didn't work with a medicated cycle.

I'm here for you anytime hun xxx

@pattaz2711 have your tests turned negative yet? It’s two weeks since my second surgery and I’m still getting faint positives. Worried sick.

pattaz2711 · 04/09/2020 10:22

@Dbrook hey nope still very positive, I went for a scan of Friday they said there's nothing there.. but it's been 4 weeks now.. I've rang the fertility clinic they keep telling me to wait 7days 10days. So I phoned my own doctor..
my hormones are all over the place I'm crying I'm angry...

How are you feeling?? How long since your first one.. i feel for you hun xxx how are you anyways

@pattaz2711 it’s just a nightmare isn’t it. It’s been over 5 weeks since my first surgery and 2 since my second. I called the EPU and they said to give it another week. There’s no way I’m going for a third surgery, I’m already terrified of Asherman’s. But not sure what else can be done.

Have you been testing with the Clearblue weeks indicator? That might show if your levels are dropping and it’s just taking a really long time. I’m getting 1-2 so I know the HCG is under 153.

Sorry we both have to deal with this xx

pattaz2711 · 04/09/2020 11:24

@Dbrook I've just done the clear blue one an it 2-3 weeks ffs I'm in tears today I literally don't know what to do no one seems to understand

OP posts:
Dbrook · 04/09/2020 12:02

@pattaz2711 mine were reading 2-3 weeks before my second surgery. I know you have already been scanned and they didn’t find anything but could you call them again and ask them to repeat the scan?

That said the 2-3 week range is quite wide - I think it goes from 153 up to 2000ish so you might be at the bottom end of the scale.

Have you had anything like this before with a miscarriage? In my last one everything just happened naturally and everything went back to normal relatively quickly.

pattaz2711 · 04/09/2020 12:05

@Dbrook no nothing like this. I've called the ivf clinic an asked them as all the doctors work at the hospital. An I've also called my doctor. Lol..
I don't know why the can't just do 2 blood test to see if it's going down.

How are you feeling in yourself xx

OP posts:
Dbrook · 04/09/2020 12:19

@pattaz2711 Just keep at them, we know our bodies and need to advocate for ourselves. They’ve told me to wait another week and it will go down but I bet you anything my test will still be positive in a weeks time, I just know it.

I feel ok physically, worn out from all the stress and trauma but not sick or anything. How about you? Are you going straight back to IVF once this is all over or are you going to wait? We’re going to see a miscarriage specialist before we do anything else. Then might transfer our last embryo or do another round of egg collection.

pattaz2711 · 04/09/2020 12:23

@Dbrook so mine was 2-3 weeks which means 4-5 weeks surely that would be lower now.. they told me last Sunday to repeat again in 10 days..

We was hoping to do it straight away.

Have you had a lot of miscarriages? It's so bloody hard isn't it.. there's people out there having children taken off them an there's people that can't have them struggling..

Xx

pattaz2711 · 04/09/2020 12:37

I've just had a phone call I have to repeat again in a weeks time x

OP posts:
Dbrook · 04/09/2020 12:38

@pattaz2711 at least they’ve given you some sort of timeframe, hopefully they’ll take some sort of action once it gets to the 10 day point.

This is my second miscarriage, so want to see if we can find some sort of reason for them before we do any more transfers. Especially since the embryo was normal. If we don’t get any answers we’ll probably just take our chances. Though I’m so worried now that I’ll get scarring from these surgeries and that will scupper our chances even more.

How many miscarriages have you had? Did you get any testing for them?

pattaz2711 · 04/09/2020 13:00

@Dbrook this is my Third well 2nd proper on.. was it expensive to get the embryos tested..

They've said one to be put back this time. We wanted 2..

I've jsut Called my doctor an asked for a hcg bloods there calling me back. I don't think I can wait another week.
I feel so low an down.

Are the clinics testing you for re current miscarriage?

Which clinic are you with?

They've told me i can do a natural cycle this time no drugs nothing which I'm a little worried about.

Thing is aswell... I egg shared an rhey never got pregnant with my eggs ether which is worrying..

They've said one to be put back this time. We wanted 2..*

My clinic (best in my country, high succes rate for ivf, not UK) says that putting 2 back gives a higher chance of miscarriage than putting 1 back. Maybe your clinic feels that it is better to have a higher chance of 1 healthy child than go through another miscarriage?

Dbrook · 04/09/2020 13:40

@pattaz2711 we tested the remains after the surgery and it cost £400. Expensive but glad I got some sort of answer.

Hope the doctor agrees to do the blood tests for you. My hospital seemed to take notice when I said I was still getting readings of 2-3 weeks. It’s so hard just waiting, at least if you’re getting blood tests it will feel like something is happening.

Re: the miscarriage testing, we’re hoping to get an NHS referral even though I’ve only had 2 miscarriages. My GP thinks I should be accepted due to the embryo tests and since I’ve been trying for so long. We’re also going to go to a private specialist to do tests they won’t do on the NHS like immune testing.

We were with ABC for the IVF but think we’re going to move clinics. ABC is nurse led and fine if you’re a straightforward case but I don’t think I am anymore! Not sure where to move to though, guess it depends on what my results show and what other treatment or monitoring I may need.

It may be another reason why that other woman didn’t get pregnant either so not necessarily your eggs. I think the more miscarriages you have the less likely it is to be due to chromosomes etc. Does your clinic have any idea what’s causing the failures?

pattaz2711 · 04/09/2020 17:03

@Dbrook I didn't know you could have that done to check.

My doctor has told me no to blood test as it will still show high hcg it sAid your not pregnant so stop doing pregnancy test. He said we know it's still there but he doesn't know why,

When is your appointment. HVe you had a period yet?

Which area are you in?

OP posts:
Dbrook · 05/09/2020 10:21

@pattaz2711 I asked the hospital about testing so they helped me sort it out, but I had to pay for it myself and get my GP to ask as the referrer to explain the results to me. I think if you have three miscarriages the NHS will test for you but I could be wrong about that.

That’s so frustrating that your doctor won’t do a blood test. Does he think the hormone will start to come down on it’s own? Or has he seen anything like this before?

Have to call the hospital on Friday if the test is still positive and they’ll see me then. Have the appointment with the miscarriage specialist in mid October which feels like ages away.

No period yet. I think it can take 4-6 weeks to return.

I’m in London, you’re in the SW aren’t you?

pattaz2711 · 07/09/2020 10:14

@Dbrook heya have you done anymore? How you feeling??..
Xx

OP posts:
Dbrook · 07/09/2020 10:29

@pattaz2711 did one this morning and it’s still faintly positive. No change from the tests last week. At my wits end, just want this to be over.

How about you, have you tested again?

pattaz2711 · 07/09/2020 10:30

@Dbrook I tested Friday had 2-3 weeks tested today an 1-2 weeks

OP posts:
Dbrook · 07/09/2020 10:36

@pattaz2711 oh that’s good, I guess your levels are dropping? Hopefully for you it’s just a case of waiting it out.

Lisyloo725 · 07/09/2020 20:09

Just adding my personal experience which doesn’t include IVF but may give an idea of levels. I had MC that began on 29th July (6weeks preg) and my hcg was only at 98. It took a month for HCG to fall to 35 (which of course still comes up positive on preg tests as they detect 20mg I believe depending on brand). Only this week have I got the negative I needed to be discharged by the hospital. It is just personal experience and I know everyone’s different but my Hcg declined verrrrrry slowly. I thought these figures and dates would be useful to someone. Sending hugs x. X

pattaz2711 · 09/09/2020 11:41

@rorosemary I'm sorry for you loss hun.. mine was 22000 at 4 weeks had a dnc at 10 weeks
